Chapter 1787: A War Without Winners (Part 237)
Chapter 1787: A War Without Winners (Part 237)
"How do I look?" Isabella asked, examining Albert in the full-length mirror and tugging at his arm to make him spin around. She nodded in satisfaction.
"In my opinion, they shouldn't have chosen you as the best man," Isabella said, smiling.
Katrina also studied the reflection in the mirror, her lips curving upwards as she noticed her man's increasing charm. Perhaps it was due to his meticulous grooming; time and age seemed to have left no traces on his handsome, 'seventeen-year-old' face.
With Isabella's help, Albert made slight adjustments to his gray-brown tuxedo.
Today, as Fred and George's best man, he had to ensure he looked understated and dignified, so as not to overshadow the grooms.
"By the way..." Katrina seemed to remember something and suddenly asked, "After the Weasley twins' wedding, aren't we leaving Britain?"
"Not as soon as you think," Albert reassured her, holding Isabella's hand. "We should have about a week to handle various odds and ends. So don't worry, we'll definitely have enough time to wrap things up here before we leave."
"That's faster than I anticipated. I'll have to speed things up on my end as well," Katrina said, kissing Albert and Isabella on the cheeks. "Have fun, and I'll take good care of Little Alice."
"Then we're counting on you," Isabella replied with a smile, kissing her sister's forehead. After whispering a few words in her ear, she left the safe house with Albert, using Apparition to head directly to Avalon for Fred and George's wedding.
The morning in Avalon was even busier than Albert had expected. A small group of acquaintances, under Shanna's command, were setting up large tents on the park lawn, leaving Albert dumbfounded.
"Did they change the ceremony plans?" Albert asked Shanna after parting ways with Isabella.
"Are Fred and George holding the wedding outdoors?"
"It seems the number of invited guests is much higher than initially planned, so the original plan had to be scrapped," Shanna explained, glancing at Mr. Weasley, who was directing another group. She lowered her voice, "It's probably a result of their private discussions, and I was only informed this morning."
To be honest, this news had left many people bewildered. No one could quite understand this unusual arrangement, and it was the first time they'd seen someone seemingly sabotage their own son's wedding.
Those unaware might even think there was a feud between the families, determined to ruin the wedding.
Under Shanna's urging gaze, Albert reluctantly approached Mr. Weasley to inquire about the situation.
As for why Shanna didn't ask herself, she was merely helping out and had no close relationship with the Weasleys, making it awkward for her to bring it up.
Truthfully, Mr. Weasley didn't want to make such a fuss either, but the number of guests invited to Fred and George's wedding was initially too small. Somehow, after the news spread, everyone wanted to attend their wedding.
Being relatives, Mr. Weasley couldn't easily refuse, and this was the result.
In a way, it was all due to their 'thin skin'.
"Other issues aside, what about the food shortage?" Albert asked with a frown.
"We've purchased plenty of supplies, and we can revert to the original self-service format for the wedding banquet. With drinks flowing, people won't eat too much anyway."
During their brief conversation, Albert realized that Mr. Weasley had more or less reluctantly agreed to the changes.
To be honest, he couldn't quite comprehend such an outrageous move.
At the very least, he couldn't fathom why Mr. Weasley hadn't informed Fred and George in advance.
Did they not worry about messing things up? Or did they think it was pointless to inform them beforehand?
After much hesitation, Albert finally asked, "Do Fred and George know about this?"
"They don't know yet," Arthur replied with a hint of unease. "I'm afraid they... I mean, even if I tell them now, it won't make a difference."
"As the people directly involved, Fred and George must be informed. Otherwise, things will only get worse," Albert said, sighing inwardly as he looked at the embarrassed Mr. Weasley. "They're adults now, no longer children. They won't let their emotions ruin their own wedding."
Arthur's face betrayed his unspoken pain, something he didn't want to discuss.
He didn't even understand what his relatives were thinking.
Upon learning the reason, Shanna also fell silent, at a complete loss for how to handle this situation.
In her opinion, staying away from this mess as an outsider was the best choice.
"The Weasley twins should still be getting ready in the dressing room," Shanna gestured towards a tent. "See you later."
"See you later."
Albert strode towards the tent, and just as he was about to pull aside the tent flap, he heard familiar voices from within.
"Are you nervous?"
"Why should I be nervous?"
A chorus of laughter filled the tent.
"Weren't you nervous when you got married?"
"I wasn't nervous."
Cedric's confident voice echoed from inside, "You should be happy because you're getting married."
"I think Cedric is right!"
Albert pushed aside the tent flap and entered, seeing Fred looking a bit sullen. The words he had been about to say remained unspoken.
"I think Angelina has scared you off."
Lee Jordan teased with a smile, though his tone carried a hint of sourness.
Fred couldn't help but roll his eyes. It was as if he was terrified of Angelina, but was he really afraid?
He was just being considerate of his wife!
However, Fred didn't engage in the pointless argument with Lee Jordan. Instead, he turned his gaze towards Albert, attempting to change the subject.
"What's wrong?"
"Don't change the topic."
George entered from outside, his face grim as he shared the news he had just learned with Fred.
Fred's expression also turned sour as he looked at Cedric and Lee Jordan, asking directly, "Did you know about this?"
"Today is your wedding day, Fred. Be happy," Albert patted Fred's shoulder firmly. "Regardless, let's focus on getting through the wedding ceremony first. Don't let Angelina down; she has already given up her dreams for you."
"I just can't quite understand," Fred forced a bitter smile. "How could such a joyous occasion be ruined?"
"Who knows!"
"Anyway, we should at least finish the wedding ceremony first. I think that's what they meant as well," George said coldly. "As for who invited them, let them handle it."
George was indeed angry, upset that his parents had kept this from him and Fred.
They weren't three-year-old kids.
And,
This was their wedding!
George was furious that his parents had kept this from him and Fred. They weren't three-year-olds, and this was their wedding!
