Chapter 178: Flipping the Table, the Exiled
Chapter 178: Flipping the Table, the Exiled
Su Nan was never one to back down from a threat.
If the Tower of the Distant Stars refused to give him a choice, then he would simply choose not to play by their rules.
He flipped the table!
A silver metal storm instantly tore through the invisible force field, and the moment Su Nan’s fingers touched the potion, he stored it in his spatial ring.
Following that, he swiftly gathered the books and mental crystals.
Only then did the floating blob react to Su Nan’s sudden attack.
Warning!
The Tower of the Distant Stars has been attacked. Defense protocols activated!
A beam of energy descended from above, silently striking Su Nan.
The shield surrounding his body shattered instantly, followed by the energy particle barrier. The beam finally stopped a few centimeters from his skin, distorting and dissipating.
The defense rating of the Extreme Protection Ring instantly dropped by over three hundred points!
Su Nan’s eyes narrowed slightly as he glanced at the ceiling.
The power of this beam was nearly on par with a Spell Cannon, if not quite as potent.
He had to take out the source of the beam first; otherwise, even with multiple Extreme Protection Rings, he wouldn’t last long.
In a flash, Su Nan had a plan.
A steel golem materialized in the air above him, just in time to block an incoming beam.
The steel golem disintegrated into metal fragments.
Seizing this opportunity, Su Nan identified the source of the beam. The metal storm redirected, flooding the ceiling and smashing the cannon-like device to pieces!
Swish!
Doors in the walls of the hall suddenly opened, and stone golems poured out, surrounding Su Nan from all sides.
"Want to play with puppets, huh?"
Su Nan sneered, unafraid.
One by one, stone golems emerged from his surroundings, fearlessly charging at the attackers.
A war of golems erupted in the hall!
The massive stone golems, each strong and resilient, traded heavy blows, the dull impacts merging into a deafening roar that echoed through the hall.
Golems fell every second, turning into piles of rubble.
The battle quickly devolved into a grueling war of attrition!
Su Nan didn’t intervene again, only remaining vigilant.
He didn’t know what other tricks the Tower of the Distant Stars had up its sleeve, so he needed to conserve his strength for the coming battles.
However, despite his caution, Su Nan wasn’t overly worried.
The Tower of the Distant Stars was merely a heritage facility for wizard apprentices, far smaller in scale than a true wizard tower. Its defensive capabilities couldn’t be too formidable.
For this operation, Su Nan had prepared extensively, bringing two small golem armies and holding numerous trump cards. This was the confidence that allowed him to flip the table.
Since the Tower of the Distant Stars refused to let him leave, he would simply bring the tower down and claim its resources for himself!
Seemingly realizing that stone golems were ineffective against Su Nan, the golems from the doors soon transformed into steel golems.
Su Nan didn’t hesitate, releasing his own steel golems and elite dual-blade spiders, outnumbering the tower’s forces and gradually pushing the battle lines toward the surrounding doors.
When Su Nan’s golem army occupied two-thirds of the hall, the silent blob finally stirred.
Intrusion intensity increased. Defense protocols elevated to Level Two!
The entire Tower of the Distant Stars seemed to vibrate as intense energy waves surged from the ceiling.
Su Nan looked up to see numerous arrays, each about a meter in diameter, materialize in the empty air. Cannons extended from these arrays, their tips glowing with concentrated light.
Eighteen cannons in total!
In the next moment, a humming sound filled the air, and the eighteen cannons fired simultaneously, releasing beams as thick as water buckets that tore through the void, all aimed at Su Nan!
Unlike the simplified cannon earlier, these eighteen cannons were true Spell Cannons, far more powerful.
Su Nan didn’t dare to resist directly. In an instant, his elite dual-blade spiders leaped up, forming a protective barrier above his head.
However, the Spell Cannons’ attacks could easily kill a Third Circle Legendary Knight, and the Second Circle Legendary elite dual-blade spiders stood no chance.
In a mere moment, over twenty elite dual-blade spiders were obliterated.
Their sacrifice only managed to block four of the beams, leaving the rest to continue their relentless assault on Su Nan.
But this gave Su Nan the opportunity to use the Mirror Image spell, splitting into eight and dispersing in all directions.
The incantation beams relentlessly dispersed, quickly homing in on the eight 'Su Nan's.
In an instant, seven of the clones dissipated into foam, and the real Su Nan was hit by two beams.
His shield shattered instantly, and the 1,000 defense points of his Ring of Extreme Protection were depleted in a blink.
Fortunately, after passing through two barriers, the beams' power was significantly reduced and easily blocked by the Magic Core.
After this attack, Su Nan's heart raced with caution.
"I can't let these incantation turrets keep firing. No matter how many Rings of Extreme Protection I have, they won't last forever!"
Without hesitation, Su Nan hurled over a dozen high-level rune gems.
When it came to firepower, he was confident he could match even eighteen incantation turrets.
Boom! Boom!
The deafening sound waves in the hall intensified, accompanied by blinding elemental light and beams zipping everywhere.
Unhesitant in his expenditure, Su Nan transformed into a human artillery platform, taking on eighteen turrets with unyielding determination.
The turrets crumbled and shattered under the relentless bombardment of high-level rune gems.
In a matter of seconds, all eighteen incantation turrets were destroyed!
Su Nan paid the price of seven Rings of Extreme Protection and over sixty high-level rune gems.
Holding a Spirit Pearl in his hand to replenish his mental energy, Su Nan couldn't help but feel relieved.
Thankfully, the Star Tower wasn't a true wizard's tower and only had eighteen incantation turrets. If it had the standard hundred turrets of a wizard's tower, even with his Ring of Extreme Protection and Magic Core, he would have been instantly obliterated.
In the short time it took for Su Nan to destroy the turrets, the golems dispatched by the Star Tower were already at a disadvantage, unable to lift their heads.
Seeing Su Nan's golem army about to breach the doors, the Star Tower immediately shut all the entrances.
Intrusion intensity detected. Defending intensity now elevated to Level 3 standard!
Warning: Level 3 defense protocol initiated. All non-essential energy consumption paused. Non-combat facilities halted!
As the announcement faded, the massive metal door in the center suddenly opened, and colossal figures emerged.
These beings resembled deformed ogres but were much larger, standing over twenty meters tall.
Their flesh appeared taut, like clay, with many distorted, agonized faces visible beneath the surface, as if other creatures were trapped inside, struggling to escape.
Their faces had no features, only a deep, black hole.
"Deep Dark Golems!"
Su Nan's expression grew more serious.
These golems were crafted from flesh and soul, using materials from creatures subjected to extreme torment, imbuing them with intense malevolence, pain, and despair.
Due to the evil nature of their materials, few wizards crafted Deep Dark Golems. Only those specializing in necromancy would create such wicked constructs.
The combat strength of a Deep Dark Golem far exceeded that of a Mithril Golem, reaching the level of a Fourth Circle Legendary.
And four Deep Dark Golems emerged from behind the doors!
Su Nan surmised this was likely the Star Tower's final combat formation!
"Aaaaah!!!"
A wailing cry of agony erupted from the black hole on the Deep Dark Golem's face.
The sound, filled with despair and pain, caused Su Nan's head to throb and his mind to momentarily lapse into a daze.
By the time he regained his senses, the four Deep Dark Golems had already plunged into his golem army, advancing toward him with unstoppable force.
Outside the Star Tower.
After Su Nan and his group entered the tower, the hidden crowd could no longer stay hidden. They emerged, surrounding the Star Tower and trying various methods to gain entry.
Unfortunately, none succeeded, and a few unfortunate souls were obliterated by the incantation turrets after accidentally triggering some taboo.
For a moment, the crowd stared helplessly at the Star Tower, like a group of hungry wolves eyeing a delicious cake but unable to take a bite.
Suddenly, a flash of light appeared on the open ground in front of the tower, and over a dozen figures materialized out of thin air.
It was the group from the Truth Council, along with the four individuals: Scepter, Rose, Traveler, and Koi.
"What happened? Why am I out here?"
Mavitch looked bewildered.
He had been diligently studying spell books, preparing to overcome the next challenge, when suddenly he found himself back outside the tower.
What happened?
No one answered his question.
Everyone, including Maygerson, looked bewildered and exchanged confused glances.
The four members of the Staff were equally baffled, their minds a jumbled mess.
“What happened?”
“Did we break some rule and get kicked out?”
“It doesn’t seem like it. Look, the members of the Truth Council were also teleported out.”
“Then what the heck! Where’s Su Nan?”
Koy’s reminder snapped the other three out of their daze.
Right, everyone who went in came out, but where’s Su Nan?
Could he still be inside the tower?
The four of them exchanged glances, a thought forming in their minds.
Could this situation have something to do with Su Nan?
If it’s Su Nan, causing this kind of chaos isn’t out of the question.
In fact, the more they thought about it, the more it seemed like Su Nan was behind it.
“Something’s not right, Su Nan didn’t come out!”
On the side of the Truth Council, Evans quickly noticed that Su Nan hadn’t been teleported out with them.
Mavitch’s face darkened, and he said in a deep voice, “Everyone was teleported out of the tower except Su Nan. He must be up to something. Grab his accomplices and interrogate them!”
“Don’t waste your time. Those guys clearly don’t know anything.”
Fabio glanced at the equally puzzled Staff members, frowning in thought.
“But this is almost certainly related to Su Nan. What did he do?”
Everyone was at a loss.
“No matter what happened, the most important thing now is to find a way back into the tower.”
Maygerson spoke with a frown, looking at the sigil stone in his palm.
“It’s no use,” Fabio said, having already tried. “The key isn’t responding.”
The others tried a few more times, but no matter how they activated the key, it didn’t work.
With no other choice, they turned to Maygerson, waiting for his decision.
Maygerson’s face darkened as he fell silent for a moment, then suddenly pointed at a middle-aged man in armor, clearly a Legendary Knight, and said coldly, “You, attack the Tower of the Shining Stars!”
The middle-aged knight’s face changed dramatically. “What do you think you’re doing?”
Mavitch immediately understood Maygerson’s plan. He stepped forward, his gaze icy, and said, “Attack the Tower of the Shining Stars, or die. Choose!”
The other members of the Truth Council also glared menacingly at the knight.
The middle-aged knight’s expression wavered for a moment, but he eventually submitted.
He couldn’t possibly stand against over a dozen third-level wizard apprentices.
With a pale face, the middle-aged knight walked toward the Tower of the Shining Stars, hesitated for a moment, then bit his lip and slashed out a sword beam before quickly retreating, eyeing the tower’s top warily.
Those unfortunate souls were killed by the beams of light that shot down from the top!
But nothing happened.
The top of the tower remained still.
Seeing this, the middle-aged knight’s face lit up with a look of wild relief.
Maygerson and the others exchanged glances.
“It looks like something has changed inside the tower,” Fabio said, frowning in thought.
“Why worry about it?” Mavitch’s face showed eagerness. “Since attacking the Tower of the Shining Stars doesn’t trigger a counterattack, we should just go all out. Once we break the defensive array, we can re-enter the tower even without the key!”
Everyone agreed with this plan.
Without delay, Maygerson and the others launched their attacks, and in an instant, countless spells rained down on the Tower of the Shining Stars.
The defensive array that enveloped the entire tower rippled violently.
Seeing the actions of the Truth Council, the Staff quickly understood.
“It looks like they’re trying to break through head-on.”
The Traveler hesitated. “Should we join in?”
The three of them exchanged glances and, without much hesitation, joined the attack on the Tower of the Shining Stars.
Koy hesitated for a moment but followed suit.
He wasn’t as eager or desperate to enter the tower as the others, having already taken the Dawn Elixir.
Instead, he was more concerned about Su Nan’s safety inside the tower.
Regardless, breaking through the defensive array and entering the tower to check things out was the best course of action.
As the two strongest groups launched their attacks, the other onlookers couldn’t stay idle for long and joined the fray.
Breaking through the defensive array would open the doors of the Tower of the Shining Stars to them as well.
This way, they could also get a piece of the action!
The thought invigorated many, and they eagerly joined the assault.
