Chapter 177: Spirit Creatures
Chapter 177: Spirit Creatures
"This is an Earth Pulse Eruption..."
Chen Mu found himself in mid-air, barely avoiding the mudflow that shot towards the sky. His face turned solemn as he witnessed the sheer power of nature.
The previous attack was far more dangerous than any encounter with the Black Demon Catfish or Cheng Houhua. This was the true might of heaven and earth.
The so-called Five Organ Realm warriors, or even those at the second step of their cultivation, merely borrowed a thread of heaven and earth's power. For the vastness of the universe, this was insignificant. The burst of Earth Pulse energy was at least ten times stronger than what a warrior could withstand. If Chen Mu had reacted slower and failed to dodge, forcing him to withstand the brunt of it, he would have been severely injured, if not killed.
Soon, the mudflow that had shot towards the sky receded, falling back into the river.
Chen Mu had already landed on the riverbank. He looked down at the water below, which seemed even more turbulent, and took a deep breath to calm his thoughts. Without wasting any time, he dove back into the water.
An Earth Pulse eruption would cause a temporary void in the Earth Pulse energy that permeated the underground, forming a cavity that could be temporarily entered. Although this was Chen Mu's first encounter with such a phenomenon, he understood it clearly.
As he dove back into the water, he saw that the Black Demon Catfish he had encountered earlier was nowhere to be found, not even a trace of its bones. The area where the Earth Pulse had erupted had formed a cave, from which muddy water was gushing out, but the Earth Pulse energy within had significantly weakened.
Splash!
Without hesitation, Chen Mu followed the path of the gushing mudflow and dove into the cave.
The slippery mud immediately enveloped his body, and the surroundings were soft, offering no leverage. Muddy water kept surging forward, but Chen Mu retracted his limbs and twisted his body a few times, forcing his way through.
After descending a short distance, he felt a sense of obstruction ahead, but it wasn't a physical barrier. It was a thin membrane formed by Earth Pulse energy, now fragile due to the recent eruption.
With a slight exertion of force, Chen Mu broke through it.
From there, he encountered no further obstacles and continued to slide down for about twenty zhang before landing in a warm and slippery space. The area was filled with muddy water, but it was warm, similar to hot spring water, though not as clear.
Chen Mu's gaze swept across the cave, and on the uneven and muddy walls, he spotted numerous glittering minerals. The cave was illuminated by high-quality Warm Jade Ore, Cold Jade Ore, and even Mystic Iron Ore.
"Earth Pulse is constantly in motion, so these minerals must have been stripped from deep underground veins and carried along by the Earth Pulse, creating this spectacle."
"After the Earth Pulse eruption, a cavity is left behind, but it will soon be filled again."
Chen Mu muttered to himself.
He didn't waste any time as he still had tasks to complete. Without thoroughly exploring or collecting everything, he quickly scanned his surroundings and extended his senses. Immediately, several items caught his attention.
With no time to spare, he flashed to the nearest muddy wall on his left. His right hand plunged into the mud, and although the walls appeared to be made of mud, they were tough due to the Earth Pulse energy mixed within, resembling a human's flesh membrane. Chen Mu gathered the sharp power of the Whistling Wind Intent and tore open a hole with his bare hands. He reached into the mud and felt around, grabbing a smooth and greasy hard object, pulling it out.
Without examining it further, Chen Mu took another step and lowered himself into the center of the cave. He crouched down into the warm mud and extended his right hand, reaching deeper into the ground to grab another irregularly shaped object.
Finally, he leaped up and reached for the top of the muddy wall, tearing off another object.
Without lingering, he dove back into the mud and then surged upwards, following the path he had come from. This time, he noticed that the muddy walls around him had become much denser, as the scattered Earth Pulse energy gradually converged, ready to fill the cavity again.
Chen Mu twisted his body like a snake and quickly made his way upwards. Soon, he burst out of the riverbed and emerged onto the riverbank, his entire body covered in mud. After shaking off the mud, his Primordial Energy surged, repelling the mud from his body, but his clothes still looked as if they had been pulled from the mud.
Chen Mu didn't pay much attention to it.
As he discerned the direction, he quickly made his way along the riverbank towards his destination. Meanwhile, he examined the three items he had retrieved from underground, all of which had the most concentrated Earth Pulse energy according to his senses.
The first irregularly shaped hard object was a piece of ore with a layer of Mystic Iron on its surface. Beneath the peeling Mystic Iron, a hint of crimson could be seen, and when held in his hand, it felt scorching hot.

"Mystic Fire Ore."
A faint light flashed in Chen Mu's eyes as he identified the source.
This mineral was far more precious than Mystic Iron, and it was not naturally produced in Mystic Iron veins. Instead, it could only be found where Mystic Iron veins intersected with scorching Earth Pulse veins, requiring the simultaneous presence of both Mystic Iron and volcanic conditions. Naturally, this made it extremely rare, and few intact deposits had been discovered in the world. Most of the time, it was obtained from Earth Pulse eruptions, like in Chen Mu's case.
"A valuable find," Chen Mu thought to himself.
The Mystic Fire Ore could be used to refine fiery treasures and even forge higher-quality spiritual weapons, but only with high-grade ore. Although Chen Mu was not a smelter and couldn't precisely assess its quality, based on his knowledge, he estimated it to be lower-grade or medium-grade, falling short of the high-grade standard.
High-grade Mystic Fire Ore would have a pure, unadulterated appearance, free from Mystic Iron coverage.
Despite being lower-grade, it could still be used to forge top-quality treasures. Chen Mu's Flowing Silver Blade was already of excellent quality, and the Flowing Silver material could be mixed with Mystic Fire Ore and reforged to create a blade with fiery attributes, matching the quality of Cheng Houhua's Clear Saber.
For Chen Mu, this was an opportunity to directly enhance his strength, and he couldn't help but feel excited about the prospect.
Next, Chen Mu turned his attention to the other two objects.
Among them was a strange, muddy object, now revealed to be a yellowish pearl after being cleaned. Chen Mu was familiar with this item, as he possessed one himself.
Earth Essence Pearl.
He had previously obtained one from the He family's storage and had been using it to assist his cultivation of the Mountain Root Concept. It indeed provided more experience when contemplating the concept. However, the pearl he had from the He family was smaller and of lower quality compared to the new one he had acquired.
The old pearl was only the size of a thumb, while the new one was at least a circle larger, about the size of a pigeon egg, and of noticeably higher quality.
"Another valuable find," Chen Mu thought with satisfaction.
