Chapter 177: Our Home
Chapter 177: Our Home
At five in the evening, Zack arrived at the ranch to collect the produce.
Naoki helped him load the vegetables and fruits onto the truck.
Zack was surprised to see the excited look on Naoki's face. "Why are you so happy all of a sudden? Did something good happen?"
Naoki nodded, "Tomorrow I'll have enough money to build a house. Finally, we won't have to squeeze into this little cabin anymore!"
"Oh, that's definitely something to celebrate." Zack grinned. "In that case, let me congratulate you in advance!"
After a brief chat, Zack drove off in the large truck.
Naoki returned to the cabin and placed the day's earnings on the desk. He then took out the savings he had accumulated over the past few months from the drawer.
"Hmm... including the money in my bank account, I now have a total of 2,153,400 Pokedollars. I'll use 2 million for building the house, and the rest for furniture and daily necessities depending on the situation."
Naoki silently planned his next steps.
Building a house would cost a lot of money, and so would the furniture and appliances.
In addition, he needed to buy a batch of wooden barrels to store in the cellar for winemaking.
There was one more thing.
If he planned to operate a Pokemon tavern, he would need to renovate the place, purchase a bar counter, and customize tables and chairs according to the different sizes of Pokemon.
When the Aigans siblings came over, he could put the older brother, Aigan, to work at the tavern to help serve customers.
At that moment, the Pokemon who had been playing outside all day ran into the cabin.
Seeing Naoki sitting at the desk in a daze, they looked at him with puzzled expressions.
A group of Pokemon gathered around, voicing their confusion.
"Growlithe?"
Naoki explained, "I'm thinking about our new home. Starting tomorrow morning, construction on our new house will begin. It will be a much more spacious place with various rooms and a living room, and you'll have more space to move around."
Hearing this, the Pokemon's eyes lit up.
Frostcream, in particular, exclaimed with delight, "Mammoo!"
A bigger house? Does that mean it would get its own cream workshop?
Naoki guessed Frostcream's thoughts, as he had previously promised it this very thing.
"That's right," Naoki confirmed. "I'll set aside a separate room and transform it into a cream workshop. I'll put an oven, cream barrels, and other kitchen utensils there, and that room will be specifically for making desserts."
"Mammoo!"
Frostcream's eyes sparkled with anticipation and excitement.
Seeing its expression, Naoki smiled and turned to the other Pokemon. "What about you? What kind of house would you like?"
As he asked, he took a bowl of peeled sunflower seeds from the cabinet.
Motizard was the first to respond, "Charizard!" (A warm room!)
"A warm room?" Naoki understood Motizard's dislike for the cold and nodded. "No problem. We can install a fireplace in the living room and light it during winter to keep the entire house nice and cozy."
"Charizard~" Motizard let out a happy cry.
Next, Naoki turned to look at Pidgeot.
Knowing it was its turn, Pidgeot raised its arms and exclaimed, "Pidgeot!" (I want a huge room! And a lake where I can swim, sunbathe, and stargaze!)
Naoki: "..." That's quite a lot of demands!
In reality, Pidgeot preferred the outdoors more than being inside.
Initially, it spent its nights inside a Poke Ball, but gradually, as it became more familiar with the ranch, it started sleeping outdoors on the grass and rarely stayed inside the house.
Naoki began to contemplate what kind of room would satisfy Pidgeot's needs.
Unfortunately, such a room didn't exist in this world.
"What about you, Golurk?" Naoki looked towards Golurk.
Unlike Charizard, Golurk was much more laid-back about it: "Ah-ga-si!" (I'll sleep in your room!)
Naoki: "..."
He should've expected that answer.
Naoki noted Golurk's request in his little notebook and then turned to look at Bulbasaur. "How about you, Bulbasaur?"
Bulbasaur jumped excitedly and replied, "Ba mo!" (I want to sleep with Naoki!)
"Great." Naoki patted Bulbasaur's head and then looked around at the others. "So, we're all decided then?"
The Pokemon didn't have any objections.
Early the next morning, Naoki went into town and found Keri.
When she learned of his intention, Keri was surprised. "So soon?"
Naoki nodded with a smile. "Yes! Thanks to Miltank and my Ride Gogoats."
"Alright, I understand." Keri thought of those unusual Ride Gogoats and suddenly didn't find it surprising at all.
She turned and led the way. "Follow me!"
Under Keri's guidance, Naoki arrived at a room that resembled a workshop.
The room was in disarray, with various blueprints scattered on the tables and floors.
Keri walked up to a table and pulled out several blueprints from a drawer, handing them to Naoki.
He took them and saw that they were drawings of two slightly different houses.
One was a Nordic countryside cottage with a fairy tale-like design, and the other resembled Nobita Nobi's house from Doraemon, a two-story Japanese-style mansion.
"Choose one!" Keri said.
Naoki's eyes shifted between the two blueprints before finally settling on the fairy tale-like cottage.
The reason was simple: it resembled the house from Stardew Valley, and it looked more attractive and suitable for the ranch.
Seeing his choice, Keri smiled and nodded. "Indeed, this type of house suits a ranch better. In that case, let's decide on the interior layout!"
"Usually, when I build a house, I plan the rooms in advance. The bedroom, living room, kitchen, bathroom, and dining room will be on the first floor, with the guest room, nursery, and study on the second floor. There are also two empty rooms that you can use as storage. Beneath the house, there will be a cellar for winemaking or it can be transformed into a basement."
"Aside from these, are there any other special requirements you have?"
Naoki shared the results of his discussion with the Pokemon from the previous day.
After listening, Keri nodded. "A cream workshop... a room for making desserts. That's simple. Anything else?"
Naoki shook his head. "That's it."
Keri: "The material and construction fees will amount to 1.8 million Pokedollars, which includes the cost of the flooring, carpets, and wallpaper. You can choose the styles you prefer."
"Additionally, our store offers custom furniture services. Aside from the basic tables and chairs, you can also purchase sofas, storage cabinets, beds, various lighting fixtures, and more from us."
All of this would bring the estimated expenses to around 2 million Pokedollars.
Naoki had expected as much, so he calmly nodded. "I understand. For the flooring, I'll go with regular wooden planks, and for the wallpaper, a simple wood grain design will do."
"No problem." Keri smiled. "I'll start preparing, and construction will begin tomorrow morning. It should take one to two months to complete."
