Chapter 1752: A War Without Winners (202)
Chapter 1752: A War Without Winners (202)
"So, this is why you came to ask me to cover your classes?"
After hearing Albert's request, Cedric suddenly fell silent, wondering if he had misheard, but then he realized that it was Albert speaking, and he understood.
It was indeed something Albert would do, asking for help to cover his classes because he had to attend the International Wizards' Congress.
What a ghost!
Cedric suddenly felt an urge to cover his face. In his life, he probably never imagined he would encounter such a situation.
Sighing heavily in his mind, Cedric spoke in a soft tone, "If you need me to cover your classes again, please come up with any excuse next time."
No matter who needed to attend the International Wizards' Congress and asked him to cover their classes, Cedric would feel numb all over.
He didn't know what to say.
After all, Albert's reason was hard to refute!
"Fine."
Cedric waved his hand at Albert, "It's not like it's the first time anyway."
"It's not my choice either. You know, I'm not really interested in these matters, but sometimes it's just beyond my control." Albert's expression seemed to say, 'I really didn't mean it.'
"Oh, come on, you're not in control either."
Cedric couldn't help but roll his eyes at Albert, feeling inexplicably annoyed.
So, before Albert could speak, Cedric 'invited' him out of his office.
After all, there were only a couple of days left, and he needed to review Albert's lesson plans. He couldn't just let the students study on their own!
As a dedicated professor, Cedric was not as irresponsible as Albert.
After resolving the issue with Hogwarts, Albert needed to make time to prepare for the International Wizards' Congress.
Kingsley was in a similar situation, as they were both 'newbies' with no experience. They required training from the elders before attending the Congress to avoid any embarrassing situations.
Even with Albert's talent, it would be challenging to handle everything perfectly the first time.
Therefore, the necessary training was crucial.
The process turned out to be more interesting than expected. They started by viewing others' memories through the Meditation Basin, experiencing the Congress firsthand, while someone explained the proceedings.
This method was the most efficient and kept things from getting boring.
Concerned that the two busy individuals might forget important matters, they were thoughtfully provided with booklets to review at their convenience.
After this simple training, there were unlikely to be any issues.
Albert's trip to the Congress was merely a formality, to gain experience and broaden his horizons.
Once he had a sufficient understanding of the Congress, Albert lost interest.
It was no different from the Wizengamot Meeting; it was just a bunch of people discussing so-called 'international affairs.'
The problem was that humans were complex beings, and many meetings rarely produced concrete results.
And the compromises were often bizarre.
Watching the spectacle was the only enjoyment Bard found in attending the Congress, and he generously shared this aspect with Albert.
"I actually have a question," Albert suddenly asked.
"What is it?"
"Doesn't the country hosting the International Wizards' Congress provide accommodations?"
In Albert's opinion, the International Wizards' Congress would last for several days, and it was strange that the organizers didn't arrange for accommodations. Were they expecting the attendees to find their own places to stay, or were they expected to leave immediately after the conference?
This bizarre arrangement left Albert baffled.
Would the attendees have to use Portkeys to travel to and from the Congress each day? What was going on?
"There are accommodations, but they're very limited, and only a few wizards from extremely distant places are given this treatment," Bard explained, well-informed about the situation.
"But as you know, most of the attendees hold high positions. Once they stay in the prepared accommodations, they'll need protection. However, with an increased number of people requiring protection, the so-called security would become a joke."
Rather than taking such a risk, it was better to address the issue at its source.
After all, the number of Portkeys to manage wasn't excessive, and they could always use the Floo Network, which had various suitable options.
"So, this time, we're using Portkeys."
Albert looked at the worn-out boot in front of him, feeling speechless. He couldn't understand why they weren't using Floo Powder; was it to avoid overcrowding?
"Time's almost up, let's begin!"
The four of them reached out and grabbed a corner of the worn boot, and a pulling force transported them away.
By the time Albert regained his senses, they had arrived in Spain.
Whether it was due to the unfinished building or the surroundings having been cleared, there were no other witnesses around except for a guy who seemed to be waiting for someone.
Bard approached the guy and chatted with him briefly, tossing him a Portkey.
"Rodris?" Albert asked.
"Oh, you remember that guy," Bard smiled and led the group towards the unfinished building.
"Have you been to Spain before?"
Kingsley realized he was the only one unfamiliar with the place, and to make matters worse, he was probably the only one who couldn't understand what others were saying.
"Yes, I came to Spain to attend the Barnabus Finklestein Award for Exceptional Spellwork."
"I remember you won quite a bit of money," Bard said with a smile.
As they spoke, they walked through the unfinished building used as a disguise and entered the Spanish Ministry of Magic.
As soon as they stepped in, an employee of the Ministry came to guide them.
From his familiarity with Bard, it was clear that they were old acquaintances.
The employee was complaining in fluent English about how a woman had tried to bring a Monster Guard earlier.
Putting aside the question of whether monsters were safe, the terrible odor emanating from them was enough to suffocate everyone in the conference room.
This had caused quite a commotion.
"When does that meeting start?" Bard suddenly asked the person beside him.
He clearly had no interest in the meeting and was ready to take Albert to have some fun.
"At 3 PM, in the outer conference room."
Both sides compromised, moving the conference room to another location. Even if that crazy woman wanted to bring a monster inside, no one would object.
