Chapter 1749: A War With No Victor (Part 199)
Chapter 1749: A War With No Victor (Part 199)
"Oh, this is a surprise. I didn't expect you to come and watch the Quidditch match today," Cedric greeted Albert, who sat beside him, with a smile.
Albert ignored Cedric's teasing and took out a pair of Binoculars from his robe pocket to observe the situation above the pitch.
Cedric briefly introduced the two teams on the field to Albert. Compared to the "oppressed" Slytherin team, the Ravenclaw team was performing significantly better.
At the very least, they were more confident, and their teamwork was more harmonious, clearly having put in a lot of effort in training. So, not long after the match began, the Ravenclaw team, as if divinely aided, scored three goals in a row.
But in Albert's eyes, the skill level of both teams was rather average, with nothing particularly impressive.
"Are they competing to see who's worse?"
Cedric was taken aback. He hadn't expected such an evaluation from Albert and slightly raised his eyebrows, "Perhaps it's because of the generational gap. Neither side has fully recovered yet."
"Maybe."
Albert didn't argue, knowing that few people would care about such details. It was already good enough to have a Quidditch match to watch.
As the Ravenclaw team had pulled ahead in points and neither side had caught the Golden Snitch, the match entered what was known as garbage time.
"Oh my, even this can be a mistake."
After seeing the Ravenclaw Seeker miss the opportunity to catch the Golden Snitch right under his nose, Albert couldn't help but suspect that the Ravenclaw Seeker was deliberately avoiding catching it. Subsequent events confirmed Albert's guess.
The Ravenclaw team wanted to rack up points!
After all, the higher the score, the higher the chances of winning the Quidditch Championship.
So, with their victory already secured, the Ravenclaw Seeker didn't want to catch the Golden Snitch too early and end the scoring spree.
"Where are you going?"
"To find the others. Everyone's here." Albert stood up from his seat.
"Oh, you managed to convince them to come and watch the Quidditch match? I thought you knew the situation in Avalon. Those guys are almost workaholics now."
"I estimate this match will end soon. After all, the Slytherin students have short tempers."
With such a group of people, how could they tolerate others using them to rack up points? So, not long after Albert left, Madam Hooch blew her whistle forcefully.
"Foul!"
A chorus of roars echoed across the pitch.
Just before, a Slytherin Beater, unable to bear the humiliation, had elbowed a Ravenclaw Chaser, nearly causing him to crash into the stands with his broom.
The Slytherin Beater soon faced retribution, as a Ravenclaw Beater knocked him off his broom with a strike.
Madam Hooch was furious!
After blowing the whistle to stop the match, she called both captains over for a scolding. But it still didn't stop the chaos and violence from spreading on the pitch.
The Slytherin team had decided not to let the Ravenclaw team win easily and was prepared to flip the table.
The match quickly escalated into a brawl.
Professor McGonagall on the stands was fuming.
It was only after announcing a two-week detention for several troublemakers that the chaos was reluctantly contained.
The match ended with a huge gap in the score, 470 to 50.
Ravenclaw claimed the ultimate victory!
When Cedric went to look for them, he found they were preparing to leave.
"You seem to be enjoying yourself at school, Cedric. I'm jealous," Fred said, looking Cedric up and down with a smirk.
"Everything's great at school, except for the low pay," Cedric replied.
Cedric gave Qiu Zhang a light hug and greeted the others around with a smile, "I didn't expect all of you to have time to come and watch the Quidditch match together."
"It's all about balancing work and leisure."
"Today's match wasn't as exciting as the fights we usually see," Fred seemed to be disappointed that the two teams didn't get into a fight.
"You're really not afraid of making a big deal out of things. Professor McGonagall is almost furious," Cedric said with a bitter smile, "You didn't see how she was raging earlier... it was really scary."
"Mr. Diggory, speaking ill of others behind their backs is not a good habit," Professor McGonagall's voice suddenly sounded from the surroundings.
Cedric turned around abruptly but couldn't find the figure of Professor McGonagall in the crowd.
"What are you looking for?"
As Cedric was searching for Professor McGonagall, that familiar voice sounded again.
This time, Cedric finally found the speaker.
It was George!
Yes, it was George, and he was smiling at him.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter filled the air.
"How did you do that?" Cedric asked curiously.
"Voice-Changing Candy."
George opened his mouth, took out a piece of candy from his tongue, and tried to hand it directly to Cedric, who stepped back in disgust, avoiding the candy George offered.
"Don't you feel sick?"
"Alright." George put the candy back into his mouth and spoke in Professor McGonagall's voice, "Two Sickles for one, just keep it in your mouth and you can easily change your voice."
"So, you're trying to sell me this product."
Cedric's expression was bizarre; he couldn't help it, as George was using Professor McGonagall's voice.
Looking at the group of playful people in front of him, Albert felt relieved.
"On our way here, we stopped by Hogsmeade Village," Shanna suddenly brought up another topic.
"Oh, how's it going there?"
"Not a single building has been constructed yet," Shanna said with a grimace.
Albert wasn't surprised; the efficiency of the British had always been low, let alone rebuilding an entire village.
"That's not the main point," Kenneth said in a low voice, "I heard the fairies plan to buy that place."
"It's probably just a rumor!"
Shanna noticed that everyone was looking at her and stopped trying to keep her voice down.
"Others aren't fools."
"Oh, you mean the fairy rebellion's base... it's probably just a decoy to attract the Ministry's attention." Albert seemed to have realized something and spoke up as a reminder, "It's best not to get involved. The fairies can't stir up much trouble these days, and the Ministry can handle it themselves."
"No, I mean if possible, should we take this opportunity to build a few of our own houses in Hogsmeade Village? The location there is really great." Kenneth sought Albert's opinion.
"Others aren't fools, and we don't have the extra energy or many galleons to spare. Of course, if you've already succeeded, then forget I said anything." Albert wasn't very optimistic about this, but he felt that since Kenneth brought it up now, it meant he had some confidence, so he came to discuss it with him in advance.
