Chapter 174: The Impact of Corruption
Chapter 174: The Impact of Corruption
"Hey, World Destroyer is here!"
"Isn't this our Number One Villain, World Destroyer? How's the future tech holding up?"
"Come on, you can't be serious. Someone who's all fired up about destroying the world can't even flatten their own hometown?"
In the mysterious space, the various Luk characters took turns mocking the Luk from the strange world, as if he were a stranger rather than a version of themselves.
So, boys, don't post about your grand plans on social media, or your friends will mock you relentlessly.
And if those friends are actually different versions of yourself from various worlds, the mockery gets multiplied by a factor of ten!
"Hmph, laugh all you want! Just wait until one day, when the censors come to your world, and you'll see how powerful they are."
The strange Luk huffed, his head drooping in disappointment, a touch melancholic, "Have you never heard that those who carry firewood for the masses should not be left to freeze in the snow?"
This statement silenced the other Leks for a moment, and they all began to feel uneasy.
Naruto Luk thought for a bit, "We're the big shots in our respective fandoms. We should be fine, right?"
"Hard to say," One Piece Luk said with a serious face, "I remember in the original novel, Uchiha Aotian got censored because of too many harem members, and he ended up in a coma, causing the world to stall."
Shinigami Luk, with his immature body, confidently said, "To be honest, I have the protection of child laws, so the censors shouldn't affect me."
"Ha, the easiest to censor are kids like you, and who ever heard of a forty-year-old child? Old man, stop pretending to be young."
Strange Luk looked at Dragon Blood Luk, "Speaking of which, I remember you were quite the playboy, expanding your harem to hundreds of members. That's dangerous, you know."
"Tsk, if I weren't taking risks, you guys wouldn't have your perks," Dragon Blood Luk grumbled, repeating Strange Luk's words, "Those who carry firewood for the masses should not be left to freeze in the snow."
"True words. I've been fighting the good fight, so I should be fine," Curse Luk said, a bit nervously.
He had been doing some questionable things lately.
Recently, he had revealed the existence of the curse world to the outside and established policies to abolish overwork and destroy all exploitative companies.
He faced various obstacles, such as Mei Mei, Engeki, Nanami, and Itadori Yuji, who all thought it was bad for curse users to interfere so much with the outside world and tried to dissuade him.
After three days of relentless battles, he managed to convince Mei Mei and Engeki, and it took just three seconds to physically persuade the other two.
The corrupt and selfish higher-ups in the curse world also tried to stop him, but Luk, who didn't consider them friends, wasn't as lenient. He wiped out the entire upper echelon of the curse world.
"My world should be fine. It's just a regular game with no dark or twisted plot."
Lan Long Luk slowly descended from the air, his body much larger than when he arrived, with deeper scales and a thicker outer shell. Just as he was about to join the discussion, the other Leks tackled him.
"Lan, my Lan!"
"Even though it's a bit weird, I've already—"
"Be normal, I'm scared," Lan Long Luk sighed weakly, making Ditto Luk feel a pang of sympathy. The two Leks, always the targets of teasing, stood together, Ditto Luk puffing up his pink rubbery body.
"Let go of Lan Long, come at me if you dare!"
A large ice-blue bird spread its soft wings, effectively taking half the pressure off Lan Long Luk.
He was from a children's world, so he wasn't too worried.
Strange Luk, feeling ignored, puffed out his cheeks. His delicate face, long hair, and lipstick made him look like a beautiful girl.
"Whoa, bro, why are you acting so girly?"
Strange Luk, realizing this, awkwardly covered his face, "It's a side effect of the lipstick. I'll act like the T0 version for a few days."
He wiped his lips, but the red color didn't fade, causing him to frown.
"The corruption from the sealed object can reach the soul. Do you want to test if sharing would transfer the soul corruption?"
The Leks were silent for a second, then collectively took a step back.
The side effects were too embarrassing, and they didn't want to risk it.
Pokemon Luk, who had remained in place, stepped forward, his handsome face expressionless, "I'll do it."
Pokemon Luk was the oldest of all the Leks, and the long years had made him emotionally detached. Even after sharing the memories of the other Leks, he remained the calmest and most composed.
Holding Strange Luk's hand, the two refreshed their shared memories. After a moment of silence, Pokemon Luk shook his head.
"The corruption didn't transfer. It seems the shared space only chooses beneficial things."
"I wonder what criteria the shared space uses to determine what's beneficial..." Strange Luk pondered, then realized he was treating the shared space like a sealed object, and he chuckled awkwardly.
"Professional habit. Now, when I see something unclear, I just want to analyze it."
"It's not your fault. Information is crucial. Otherwise, even with those few guaranteed-win sealed objects, you wouldn't have been able to beat Anna," Pokemon Luk explained, "Do you know what happened in the end? A quick look through the memories was a bit confusing."
Strange Luk thought for a moment, "When I was fighting Anna, I sent a clone to the base to retrieve the containment objects from the protagonist's side."
"Right after I defeated Anna and retrieved her containment objects, I saw five massive beams of light envelop the entire world."
Strange Luk's expression darkened, "Then I felt a familiar and nauseating sensation, the feeling that time was about to reset."
At this, Strange Luk and Pokemon Luk's eyes turned to Marvel Luk.
Marvel Luk blinked, pointing at himself, "Why are you looking at me? What does this have to do with me? Rewinding time is Loki's thing. And from what you said, didn't you escape using time magic?"
"Not much to do with you, just wanted to say, your scriptwriting is terrible." x2
Marvel Luk: (ー`ー)
He was a legitimate author, not in the same league as Naruto Luk, who wrote things like "Young Jiraiya," "Hyuga White," and "Uchiha Isn't Just a Pond Fish" and the like.
Although he borrowed a bit from a few great authors, his adaptation wasn't very coherent, making "Mysterious Master," "God of Chaotic Rules," and "Mechanic Beyond the Gods" blend into the crowd. But he still had to maintain his dignity!
"Human perception is shaped by experience. A person who grows up in a poor family and one who is born into wealth have different worldviews. For example, some people think a 3 to 4 yuan drink from Heytea is expensive, while others find a 79 yuan eyebrow pencil cheap. Some even think that a breakfast of eggs and milk should cost six to seven hundred yuan..."
"What are you trying to say?"
"How dare you assume my script is terrible? Is it worse than Marvel's Phases 4 and 5, What If...? Season 2? Worse than Secret Invasion? Worse than Thor: Love and Thunder or Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?"
Marvel Luk was quite indignant.
Eccentric Luk rolled his eyes, trying to steer the conversation back on track, "Let's get back to what we were discussing..."
"Ha, are you planning to throw a punch now? Did you learn from Wanda?"
"You only compare yourself to the worst. Why don't you compare yourself to the first three phases of the Avengers, or WandaVision, or the first and second seasons of Loki? Afraid to, aren't you?"
"Can you let me finish a sentence, please?" Eccentric Luk tried again to steer the conversation.
"What If...? Season 2, Episode 7 with Hela was pretty good."
"But the Dark Doctor Strange part was really bad. The first season was much better..."
Eccentric Luk: "..."
He couldn't steer the conversation back, so he decided to join in.
"I think Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was decent!"
"Sure, it's like finding a gold nugget in a pile of crap."
After the group thoroughly criticized the Avengers Phases 4 and 5, they finally returned to the main topic.
"Anyway," Eccentric Luk raised his voice. "I was about to break in and steal all the containments when I suddenly felt time start to rewind. I immediately used time magic to protect myself."
His expression grew serious. "The time rewind at the end felt different from when Loki rewound time. If Loki's time rewind was like traveling back to a previous time, this time rewind felt like the entire world was moving backward."
"But you managed to escape in the end."
"Sort of," Eccentric Luk's frown eased a bit. "Anyway, it wasn't a waste, and I even gained something."
The few sealed artifacts he had on him were protected by his magic and weren't returned to their original state. He now had the "1408 Doorplate," "Calm Ring," "Inequality Lipstick," "Anti-Damage Armor," "Victory Sword," "Equality Badge," and a "Disaster Regulation Device."
The last one was a sealed artifact on Carrie, which she couldn't use due to the prerequisites and the inconvenient location.
"Would Anna have died again if the Victory Sword didn't reset and return to her?" Elf Luk asked a question.
"Probably," Eccentric Luk shrugged. "Honestly, I preferred her initial attitude of telling me to destroy everything rather than seal it."
"Once I fully understand these sealed artifacts, regular enemies won't be much of a challenge, but it will take a long time, and I don't think I have the patience."
"Shall I help you analyze the sealed artifacts?" Elf Luk offered.
"How would you do that?" Eccentric Luk scratched his head. "The sealed artifacts are in my world, and I can't send them over."
"I can package the data and share it with you mentally." Elf Luk smiled faintly. "Since you've learned to analyze sealed artifacts, you might as well learn more about yourself."
"For example, trying to create a bloodline, controlling Ditto's transformation process, learning Haki, studying the Eight Great Skills, or further developing Lamia's lightning control..."
"There are many such topics. A significant portion of Luk's potential remains untapped, and most Leks prefer the simpler, more brute-force methods." Elf Luk spoke calmly.
"I'm not saying that's bad. Most topics only raise the lower limit, while things like sealed artifacts can expand the upper limit. However, understanding yourself more is always beneficial."
Eccentric Luk looked at Elf Luk with admiration. "No wonder they say elves are scholars."
"It's just a matter of living longer and becoming more indifferent. In the past, I believed that only knowledge was eternal."
Elf Luk smiled softly at the group of Leks in the shared space, who were hugging Lamia and Articuno and making a ruckus.
"Now, I can add myself to that."
Seeing everyone's comments praising the Eccentric World, it's a validation of my abilities. Thank you for your feedback.
After the Marvel arc fell apart due to various reasons, I took a break to rethink and plan ahead, setting a clear main storyline and more detailed settings to avoid another collapse.
The main plot of this story is already set: Luk escapes the seal, invades future technology to battle the sealed artifacts, receives help from various factions to turn the tide, and ultimately destroys the future technology.
The climax will be the destruction of future technology and a declaration of war against other containment organizations, followed by a transition to the next world.
Each stage will have two to three satisfying moments, with well-placed foreshadowing that will be revealed gradually.
I'm just at the second step, and this happened. Honestly, it's quite disheartening.
I can only blame myself for starting to write without fully understanding the mechanisms of the platform and the sensitive topics to avoid.
This book has had many mistakes, and I am grateful for everyone's support.
The continuation of the Eccentric World will depend on the situation. I will try to find a less mainstream world, avoid the main storyline, and connect it to the Eccentric World in a different way to finish the story, provided the editor approves.
The next world will be the Funeral of Frieren. I want to write a story that isn't so heavy and dark, to avoid getting depressed.
