Chapter 174: Identity Exposed (Second Update)
Chapter 174: Identity Exposed (Second Update)
"How's Thor doing?"
After returning to the base, Jerry ran into Coulson in the hallway as he was leaving his room.
Coulson shrugged.
"Still the same. I just checked on him, and for some reason, he seems even more down than before. He looks completely depressed!"
"Really? The Director talked to him!"
Jerry found it hard to believe that Thor, with his temper, would become depressed. Maybe Director Fury said something.
Coulson nodded.
"Yes, but it's probably not related to the Director. His mood was stable after their talk, but it suddenly changed just now!"
Before Jerry left, Nick Fury had personally spoken with Thor. Through their conversation, Fury had largely confirmed that Thor was telling the truth.
It didn't take long for Fury to realize that Thor was a straightforward, honest brute who wouldn't lie.
"Let's go see him!"
Jerry thought for a moment and decided to check on Thor himself. He also wanted to test the "Anti-Magic Charm", a spell that could dispel most magical effects, to see if it could affect the seal on Thor.
Although, he doubted it would work.
"Huh, what's going on?"
Just as Jerry and Coulson were about to head to Thor's quarters, Jerry sensed a strange magical fluctuation coming from the direction of Mjolnir.
"What's wrong?"
Coulson was taken aback by Jerry's sudden stop.
"There seems to be something happening with Mjolnir. I'll go check it out!"
Jerry said, then sprinted toward the central area of the base where Mjolnir was stored.
Coulson immediately pulled out his radio and ordered:
"Agent Barton, head to Mjolnir's location and assess the situation!"
He then followed Jerry toward the base's center.
"Hey, I don't think I've seen you before!"
As Jerry reached the central area, he saw a well-dressed man with an air of authority attempting to lift Mjolnir. The nearby agents and staff seemed to be oblivious to his presence, as if they couldn't see him.
Jerry had a good memory for faces, and this man was definitely not one of the agents he had seen before. More importantly, the magical fluctuation he had sensed was coming from this stranger.
"You can see me?"
The well-dressed man released his grip on the hammer and looked at Jerry with surprise.
As soon as Jerry called out to him, the man's shielding magic seemed to dissipate, and all the nearby agents became aware of his presence.
"Sir, please raise your hands and don't move!"
Coulson arrived just then, pulling out his gun and aiming it at the man.
The well-dressed man glanced at Coulson's gun and the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who had also drawn their weapons, then a look of disdain appeared on his face.
His body shifted, and his modern suit transformed into a golden ancient war armor. He wore a golden horned helmet, a golden war armor, a green cloak, and held a uniquely designed golden spear. In a condescending tone, he declared:
"I am Loki, King of the Asgardian Realm. You mere mortals dare to command me!"
"Damn, this guy is so flashy!"
Jerry couldn't help but roll his eyes at the sight of the glittering Loki.
"Be careful! Armor Charm!"
As Loki raised his golden spear, a thick bolt of lightning shot out, heading straight for Coulson. Jerry quickly moved in front of Coulson and cast an Armor Charm to shield him.
In the second half of his studies at Hogwarts, Jerry had become proficient in casting the Armor Charm, thanks to the guidance of Snape and Dumbledore.
In front of Jerry's wand, a semi-transparent, fan-shaped Magic Shield instantly formed.
However, the Armor Charm, which could deflect most magical attacks in the Harry Potter world and even withstand a Barrett Sniper Rifle in reality, only held for two seconds against the lightning attack before shattering.
"What's going on? That's so powerful!"
Jerry and Coulson reacted quickly. Seeing the shield break, both rolled to the side to dodge the next attack.
At this moment, the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents surrounding them began launching their own attacks on Loki.
However, the bullets that hit Loki's golden War Armor simply bounced off without leaving a scratch.
"You are courting death!"
Loki swung his golden spear, and thick lightning bolts darted around, instantly killing all the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents present.
Just then, a long arrow shot straight toward Loki, aiming for his eye, the only part not covered by his War Armor, intending to blind him.
It was Hawkeye Barton, who had arrived and launched a surprise attack from above the base.
However, as a Frost Giant, Loki's physical abilities, while not as formidable as Thor's, far exceeded those of ordinary humans. He easily caught the arrow in his hand with a quick reach.
Unfortunately for Loki, Hawkeye Barton's arrows were not ordinary. The moment Loki's face showed a smug smile, the arrowhead flashed a red light and exploded.
Hawkeye Barton had fired an Explosive Arrow, with a mini-bomb installed in the arrowhead using advanced technology.
While a regular bomb couldn't harm Loki, the explosion knocked him to the ground, rolling several times and leaving him somewhat disheveled.
Loki, who was always very particular about his appearance, was now truly enraged. He pointed his golden spear at Hawkeye Barton's location, and a lightning bolt twice as thick as the previous one shot out instantly.
Seeing this, Hawkeye Barton on the roof of the base quickly dove off the building, narrowly avoiding the attack.
"Petrify!"
At this moment, Jerry found his chance. He waved his wand and cast a Full Body Bind Curse at Loki.
"Magic? You're a wizard!"
Although Loki was hit by Jerry's magic, he was only immobilized for about a second before regaining his normal state.
Clearly, as a Frost Giant, Loki had significant magical resistance, making it difficult for a regular Full Body Bind Curse to affect him.
Loki looked at Jerry, his eyes flashing with magic power, and a sinister smile appeared on his face.
"Interesting, I should have realized you were a wizard earlier. You even used Illusion Magic to conceal your true appearance. Let me see who you really are!"
As the God of Deception in mythology, Loki was particularly skilled in Illusion Magic and creating illusions. With a careful observation, he immediately saw through Jerry's Disguise Charm.
"Oh no!"
Hearing Loki's words, Jerry felt a sense of unease.
Before he could take any action, a green light flashed in Loki's hand, and Jerry found his Disguise Charm broken. His true appearance was now revealed.
