Chapter 174: Have You Finally Lost Your Patience?
Chapter 174: Have You Finally Lost Your Patience?
Donquixote Doflamingo watched Boa Hancock’s expression and chuckled softly:
"Fufufufu! How terrifying, Lucius Kro."
True to his nature, he'd already begun investigating after his previous humiliation in Mariejois.
Lucius Kro hailed from East Blue, spending ten years in the Navy there before transferring to Headquarters as Lucius Kro's direct subordinate, rising through the ranks at lightning speed.
More importantly, Donquixote Doflamingo had uncovered a secret that initially seemed impossible - combining Lucius Kro's movements between East Blue and his display of levitating swords during the Mariejois incident.
Such feats had actually been achieved by a Navy officer!
This revelation explained why Donquixote Doflamingo never retaliated after his defeat.
"Lucius Kro?" Dracule Mihawk blinked but didn't seem particularly surprised. "Kuro" and "Klah" sounded nearly identical when spoken quickly.
"Oh?" Kuro paused mid-stride, turning to face him. "You've been investigating me?"
"Fufufufu!"
Doflamingo chuckled again as he stared at Kuro. "You think you've hidden well? I know about that woman of yours too - White Phantom, the Grand Line demon who devoured entire islands. And that hair color... Fufufufu!"
Dracule Mihawk raised an eyebrow. "White Phantom? The gluttonous demon? So it's a young girl? Didn't expect that."
Others showed surprise too, including Boa Hancock.
"You're famous?" Kuro asked Lida.
"How should I know?" Lida feigned thoughtfulness. "Am I famous?"
"Stop pretending, Kuro!" Doflamingo sneered. "And your subordinate Klah used to be a pirate renowned for his schemes. Then there's that Navy force you cultivated in East Blue - they're fighting hard to build your reputation! Prestige, intelligence, strength... You've prepared everything. Finally ready to act, huh?"
"Lucius Kro, what exactly do you want? Fufufufu! What an interesting world!" Doflamingo roared with laughter.
"Trying to be a man like me?" Boa Hancock spat, glaring at both men. "How disgusting."
Dracule Mihawk simply stared at Kuro in silence.
Gecko Moria clawed at the air with glee. "Shashasha! Another terrifying man! Let chaos reign!"
Lida suddenly struck her palm with her fist. "Now that you mention it, you do seem up to something big. Hey Kuro, you wouldn't happen to be lying to me, would you?"
"Stop being ridiculous." Kuro tapped Lida's forehead, his lips twitching as he watched Doflamingo spiral into madness. He didn't know what to say - the man was actually making disturbingly good points.
"Fufufufu! Won't admit it? I'd be delighted to welcome you to my Kingdom. Whatever you need, I can provide." Doflamingo suddenly pointed toward Whitebeard. "Speaking of which, won't you control your subordinates? They'll get wiped out if they keep charging."
Kuro followed his finger. "What subordinates? Klah? He should've retreated -"
His words died as he saw Whitebeard's battlefield. While most Navy forces withdrew, a group of Navy soldiers fought harder than ever, facing ten famous pirate captains. Though they were mere grunts, the captains kept retreating, bloodied and wounded.
Klah darted between them, parrying assassination attempts while the Navy advanced in formation. At their front stood a bearded figure Kuro recognized instantly.
"Kas?!" Kuro's eyes nearly popped out.
"Huh?" Lida gaped. "That's Kas? What's he doing here?!"
The man should've been enforcing justice in East Blue, not appearing at Marineford's battlefield, let alone fighting so fiercely! They'd already forced the pirates back toward Whitebeard's ship.
"God-Speed Shave!" Klah shot sideways, his ten blades carving cold streaks as he charged.
Slicing through a captain's chest with ten deep wounds, he continued toward the Dierkaban Brothers. Their attack met twin defenses.
clang!
Lumba seized his opening, swinging his blade down - but mid-strike, he abruptly changed direction, sweeping aside a dozen charging Navy soldiers.
"Protect Klahmr.!" Navy shouted as several swords crashed against Lumba's blade.
Klah retreated to regroup with his soldiers, who immediately reformed their assault. Their coordination was remarkable - Kas' frontline troops bore the brunt while Klah maneuvered as their elite strike force.
"Can actually work!" Klah licked his lips, excitement rising.
At this rate, they might capture these ten captains!
"Doing pretty well, kid."
A voice echoed from above. Klah looked up, cold sweat pouring down. Silhouetted against the sun stood a towering figure at the ship's prow - Whitebeard's piercing gaze felt like blades.
Suddenly, light flashed from the side.
"Look out!"
Klah instinctively crossed his ten blades.
Boom!
A massive figure crashed through Kas' formation. In daylight, his body gleamed like polished steel.
Klah flew backward ten meters before skidding to a halt, pain exploding through his chest. His "Cat's Claw" weapon shattered.
"Captain Jozu!" the pirates shouted.
Jozu stepped forward. "How dare you let the Navy approach Dad."
Pirates hung their heads in shame. Lumba bowed. "Forgive us. We've disgraced ourselves, letting mere grunts"
"Not their fault", Whitebeard interrupted, watching the Navy rise again - particularly the blood-spattered bearded man with unbroken resolve. "This Kas... he's a troublesome one."
Marco appeared beside Whitebeard. "Indeed. A manifestation of will? Dangerous indeed."
Klah suddenly realized - they'd pushed too far. Surrounded by retreating forces, they'd broken through like a sore thumb to Whitebeard's ship.
"Kas, we'll break through from that direction!" Klah spotted a weak spot in the encirclement.
Kas nodded. No fool, he understood battlefield priorities.
"Calm Step!" Klah's leg flashed, creating afterimages as dozens of slashes tore through the chosen path.
Pirates fell like wheat before the scythe.
"Comrades, retreat!" Kas raised his saber, charging through the opening.
"Who dares harm my dear sons and hope to leave easily?"
Whitebeard's fist clenched, unleashing a devastating shockwave that shattered the air.
crack!
The space around Klah and Kas exploded like shattered glass.
"Urgh!" Klah tried activating Calm Step again, but Whitebeard's shockwave sent his organs reeling. Blood erupted from his mouth as he collapsed.
Kas and his Navy force fared no better, crumpling with blood pouring from every orifice.
"This technique..." Klah forced his head around, spotting Whitebeard lowering his fist. "Whitebeard's attack?!"
"Dad's the real deal! That Klah got taken down with one punch!" a pirate captain cheered.
Marco and Jozu glanced at Kas' group.
"Forget jokes", Marco sighed. "If that guy were here, you wouldn't be standing."
Jozu nodded reluctantly. The man from Kusnake Town had left a terrifying impression - a single captain would die facing him.
"That guy with glasses! He claims he's Klah!" the pirate shouted.
"Same name?" Marco studied Klah. "This name doesn't suit him."
Klah's eyebrow twitched faintly. Now even his name was being questioned?
Whitebeard's shockwave naturally drew attention across the battlefield.
Lucius Kro watched, surprised. "Another shockwave? Scary indeed... Wait, that person?"
He noticed Klah near Whitebeard. Looking around, he spotted Kuro among the Seven Warlords at the port.
"Hey Kuro!" he shouted. "Your subordinate's injured!"
"Got eyes, old man!" Kuro snapped back, massaging his temples. "Tell them not to charge recklessly, not to draw attention... What a mess! And Kas too! Idiot! No concept of safety, now they're all hurt!"
Thump! Thump!
Oz advanced toward the port, cleaver raised for a deadly strike.
Kuro looked up, teeth clenched. "Such a pain in the ass!"
