Chapter 173: The Parchment Booklet in the Hut
Chapter 173: The Parchment Booklet in the Hut
As Snape glared at the robe that Kyle held out to him, his face turned as dark as a pot bottom.
What did he mean by asking him to take it back and examine it carefully? Did he look like someone who enjoyed smelling foul odors?
Snape shot Kyle a cold glance without taking the robe or saying a word.
"I believe Professor Snape is overly concerned," Professor McGonagall interjected, attempting to smooth things over. "It's good that you didn't encounter the giant monster. You should head back as well. The students are all enjoying the Halloween feast in their respective houses."
"Yes, Professor McGonagall," Kyle replied.
Snape glared resentfully at Kyle's departing figure before abruptly turning his head to fix his gaze on Quirinus, who was cowering at the back.
"Quirinus, where exactly is this giant monster you spoke of?" Snape demanded.
Quirinus, leaning against the wall with his hand clutching his chest, replied, "It's... it's in the basement classroom. It's truly... fifteen feet tall..."
"But Dumbledore already searched the basement classroom, and there was nothing there!" Snape said impatiently. "I think you must find this highly amusing—everyone forgoing the Halloween feast to foolishly search for a non-existent monster!"
"I... I didn't... Severus... I didn't," Quirinus stammered as he slid down the wall to sit on the floor, sobbing. "I don't know where it went..."
"Or perhaps it ran off somewhere else," Professor Flitwick suggested after a moment's thought. "For the students' safety, we should conduct another thorough search. I'll go check the third floor."
"Then I'll head to the fourth floor," another professor volunteered.
"I'll take care of the fifth floor," added another.
...
The professors quickly decided on their respective floors and left one after the other.
"If I find out you're lying or playing some sort of trick," Snape said coldly, giving Quirinus a frosty glance, "you know what I'm capable of. I will find you again."
With that, he limped away.
Quirinus remained silent, still sitting on the floor and sobbing as if he had been thoroughly frightened.
In truth, Quirinus was in a state of extreme confusion, not having paid any attention to what Snape had said.
What about his giant monster... that enormous creature of his?
How could it have disappeared in the blink of an eye?
Quirinus even began to doubt if he had actually released the monster in the first place.
...
After leaving, Kyle also didn't go anywhere else and instead headed straight back to the Hufflepuff common room.
As soon as he stepped through the door, a large group of people surrounded him.
"Thank Merlin, we were just about to come looking for you," Cedric said. "Brown said you were in the common room, but when we returned, we found that you had already left."
"Why didn't you attend the feast today?"
"Thankfully, you're alright."
"You have no idea! There was a giant monster in the basement classroom. It's said to be over ten feet tall according to the books," one of them exclaimed.
Everyone expressed their concern for Kyle's safety.
"Thank you, don't worry, I'm fine," Kyle reassured them with a smile. "I met the professors on my way, and they returned after that."
"The professors?" Mickel asked curiously. "Did they find the giant monster?"
"I don't think so," Kyle shook his head. "But I believe the news is false. How could there be a giant monster in Hogwarts?"
"But Professor Quirinus saw it," someone pointed out.
"I think he must have been mistaken," Kyle dismissed the idea. "After all, the Defense Against the Dark Arts professors at Hogwarts have never been very reliable..."
Mickel seemed like he wanted to say something more, but Kyle interrupted him.
"Alright..." Mickel scratched his head embarrassedly.
At this time, the small tables in the Hufflepuff common room were already filled with all sorts of delicious food.
Although the quantity was not as much as it had been in the Great Hall, if there was anything else they needed, they could just ask the house-elves, and they would bring it immediately.
It was somewhat similar to a magical buffet.
Kyle walked to the table, picked up a piece of pumpkin pie, took a bite, and then asked for a large piece of steak, finishing it off in just a few bites.
Cedric and Connor sat on either side of him, and because they had been worried about Kyle's safety earlier, they hadn't eaten much either. Now, they also felt a bit hungry.
Cedric thought for a moment and asked for an apple pie.
Connor, on the other hand, was like Kyle and asked for steak, but she took three portions.
After the meal, no one felt like sleeping.
The fainted Professor Quirinus and the giant monster were very interesting topics, and the young witches and wizards discussed this matter while eating their after-dinner desserts in the common room, staying up until very late before returning to their dormitories.
Late at night...
As usual, Kyle sneaked out of the dormitory, but today he didn't go to the library. Instead, he went to the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor.
It had been a long time since he last came here.
Kyle first observed the growth of those plants. After confirming that everything was normal, he took out his box from the Chameleon Lizard Leather Bag and jumped into it.
The inside of the box had completely changed.
In the small room below the entrance, there was now a wooden bed, a table, and a large wooden bookshelf.
He had made all of these himself, so they looked a bit ordinary and could even be described as abstract.
However, Kyle didn't care about that. Here, appearance and comfort were not important; as long as they were usable, it was fine.
The bed and the table were empty, but the bookshelf... it was filled to the brim with scrolls bound with parchment.
Only the last row was still empty.
"I didn't notice it before, but there are already so many?"
Kyle sighed.
It seemed that the next time he went to the library, he would have to look for books on the Traceless Stretch Charm.
Although he could directly put a Chameleon Lizard Leather Bag here to solve the problem, it would still be a bit inconvenient.
After leaving the room, Kyle soon found the giant monster lying on the ground, sleeping soundly.
The giant monster still showed no signs of waking up.
Kyle placed the several large buckets of oat cakes and meat that he had brought from the kitchen beside it, and then took out his wand to divert some of the lake water to surround the giant monster.
Doing this was not to control the giant monster.
Mountain trolls didn't have a large amount of activity, and they usually only stayed where there was sufficient food. The amount of food Kyle brought this time would be enough to keep it quiet for a long time.
Kyle mainly did this to prevent the biting cabbages.
He had already transferred some of the mature biting cabbages here earlier, and to prevent these guys from having nothing to do and wanting to come over to taste the giant monster, the best way was to use water to separate them.
It was common sense that biting cabbages would never actively approach places like rivers or lakes.
