Chapter 173: Finding a Sparring Partner
Chapter 173: Finding a Sparring Partner
Friday, 7:00 AM.
Qiao Sang opened her eyes and reached for her mobile phone to check the time. It was too early, and without a second thought, she put the phone back down and continued sleeping.
Lately, she didn't know what was going on, but she could wake up naturally in the morning without an alarm, feeling completely refreshed and not the least bit drowsy.
If she had to go to school for training, it would be one thing, but waking up so early when she could sleep until the afternoon was just frustrating.
The School Team had given her a mission with a five-day time limit. Three days had already passed, and the thought of only having two more days to sleep in made Qiao Sang start to resent her body clock.
She lay in bed for about ten minutes, eyes closed, but her mind was racing with thoughts.
Fangy's skills were already sufficient for her current stage, and her basic attributes were being trained intensively at school every day. Now, what she needed to do was increase her skill proficiency and gain more combat experience.
For combat experience, the best option was to find a professional sparring partner at the Battle Club.
She had considered the other members of the School Team, but to truly improve, she needed a Beastmaster who was on par with her or even stronger.
From her time training at school, Qiao Sang had a good understanding of the School Team members' abilities. They might be outstanding among their peers, but compared to Fangy, who had fire-type and Psychic Type skills, the Golden Finger enhancement, and had mastered Mars Rain, they were simply not in the same league.
Treasure Seeker had a lot more to do.
The first priority was to train the Ghost Flame and forge the Ring into two parts.
Next, Hypnosis and Psychic Power needed more practice. These two skills had been the focus of Treasure Seeker's recent training. If either one reached Mastery level, it wouldn't just be a piece of cake to beat opponents of the same level; even taking on higher-level opponents would be a regular occurrence.
As for physical attributes, there was no need for excessive training. For a Familiar, skills were the most important.
As a Ghost-type Companion Beast with the Pierce Trait and teleportation ability, the key to becoming even stronger was to improve the proficiency of existing skills and learn new ones.
A new skill was right in front of her.
Shadow Control. If she could learn this skill during the Junior stage, that would be ideal. If not, it wasn't a big deal. After all, apart from Fangy, Qiao Sang hadn't seen any other Junior Familiars learn an Advanced Skill.
After thinking for a while, Qiao Sang decided that Treasure Seeker only needed to split the Ring into two parts and reach Mastery in either Hypnosis or Psychic Power before preparing for Evolution.
During this period, she could find a Battle Club to improve her combat skills and earn some Points to save up.
Once Treasure Seeker achieved these two goals, she could max out the Points and evolve it immediately. Wouldn't that be perfect?
The more Qiao Sang thought about it, the more excited she became, and the less she could sleep. She suddenly sat up.
Then she saw Treasure Seeker lying on its side, fast asleep on the floor.
Qiao Sang was momentarily taken aback. Ghost-type Companion Beasts generally didn't sleep much, especially not at night, and Treasure Seeker was no exception. However, it wasn't completely sleepless either.
Due to its young age, it would nap for a couple of hours late at night or midday.
It was the early morning, and this was the first time Qiao Sang had seen Treasure Seeker sleeping at this hour.
"Treasure Seeker?" Qiao Sang called softly.
"Seeker..." Treasure Seeker, who was a light sleeper, sensed a familiar voice and groggily got up, only to fall back down again.
Qiao Sang: "..."
It looks like it's really sleepy... Qiao Sang got up, picked it up, and gently placed it on the bed.
...
9:45 AM.
Hongying Beastmaster Battle Club.
"Hello, is there anything I can assist you with?" The receptionist smiled, revealing a perfect row of eight teeth.
"I'm looking for a Junior Trainer", Qiao Sang said.
The Battle Club's classification of trainers is primarily based on the familiar level.
Junior Trainers are mostly Beastmasters who have a Junior Familiar or an Intermediate Familiar.
"Do you have any specific requirements for the Junior Trainer you're looking for?" the receptionist asked with a smile.
"I want the best and most expensive one", Qiao Sang said confidently.
Who would have thought that just two months ago, she couldn't even afford the 1000 Union Coins per hour for a Junior Trainer, but now she didn't even ask about the price, demanding the most expensive one.
Qiao Sang looked calm, as if money was no concern to her.
"All our Junior Trainers have a uniform price", the receptionist said. "If you're looking for a better trainer, you might want to consider an Intermediate Trainer. They have more experience in combat."
Intermediate Trainers are generally Beastmasters with at least two familiars, one of which is at a higher level, making them significantly more capable than Junior Trainers.
Qiao Sang thought for a moment and asked, "What's the price for an Intermediate Trainer?"
"Our Intermediate Trainers have a uniform price of 3000 Union Coins per hour", the receptionist replied with a smile.
3000 Union Coins, that's equivalent to three months of her allowance before she became a Beastmaster...
Even with money now, she couldn't afford to spend it so recklessly... Qiao Sang regained her composure and said, "I'll stick with a Junior Trainer."
"Sure, do you have any specific requirements for the Junior Trainer you're looking for?" the receptionist asked the same question again.
"I hope he has an Intermediate Familiar", Qiao Sang replied.
...
The efficiency of the Hongying Beastmaster Battle Club was impressive. Qiao Sang had just entered the large indoor arena when her requested trainer arrived.
A tall, handsome man, around 23 years old, walked in.
"Hello, my name is Lin Yuanqi, and I'm your trainer for today."
The moment he saw Qiao Sang, Lin Yuanqi felt a bit disappointed.
He had rushed over upon hearing it was a girl, but he hadn't expected such a young child.
At this age, kids haven't achieved financial independence, let alone appreciate his good looks. It seemed he wouldn't be able to turn her into a regular customer.
"Hello."
Qiao Sang, however, was somewhat satisfied with the trainer in front of her.
Good, he's older and should have more combat experience.
"You're so young and already working on training your familiar, that's commendable. Most kids your age are still just playing with their familiars. When I was your age, all I did was play."
Although Lin Yuanqi didn't think this girl could become a long-term customer, he was skilled at socializing and naturally tried to lighten the mood, building rapport.
"How old are you? You look like you're still in middle school. I heard you wanted an Intermediate Familiar trainer. Based on my experience, it's better not to have your familiar fight against one that's a level higher. I have one that..."
Qiao Sang couldn't help but interrupt him, "Has the timer started?"
Lin Yuanqi: "..."
His usually effective social skills had failed. Indeed, such a young child couldn't appreciate his good looks...
"Let's start now", Lin Yuanqi said as he summoned his familiar.
"Come out, Dual-Tailed Land Turtle."
A Dual-Tailed Land Turtle, huh? Fangy had already studied it thoroughly when she was still a Fangflare. No challenge... Qiao Sang thought for a moment and said,
"Treasure Seeker, you're up."
"Seek~"
