Chapter 1720: A War with No Victor (One Hundred and Seventy)
Chapter 1720: A War with No Victor (One Hundred and Seventy)
"Shouldn't it be about time?"
"Not really," Janila huffed, rolling her eyes at Valeria, who was teasing her. She turned to Louise and said, "You should know this, Louise. Having vampire blood doesn't make one a vampire, and we don't need to feed on blood like them."
Louise understood that Janila was just making small talk, but upon sensing the gazes of the girls, she spoke up, "That's true, but inheriting part of the bloodline often comes with some of its traits. In our family, we tend to inherit our grandmother's silver hair and Mewa's allure."
"What talent did you inherit?" Valeria was curious.
"Night vision."
Janila clearly didn't want to dwell on the topic, so she tried to change the subject.
"Then why does Louise want to be Albert's mistress?"
"Because of love."
Valeria answered for Louise before she could.
"Love?" Janila's tone carried disbelief. In her eyes, how could Louise, who was equally exceptional, become Albert's mistress merely for love?
It was simply unbelievable!
"Yes, I really like Albert," Louise didn't deny it, "We've known each other for several years."
"Not becoming his wife is indeed a frustrating matter, but I believe we can still be together in the future."
"Do you think the MacDougall sisters will agree?" Valeria pointed out, "They wouldn't want someone to share their man within their own family."
"I can move to Britain and settle there." Louise paused, speaking calmly, "Albert is quite sentimental."
"Albert is indeed sentimental, but..." Katherine paused, speaking with a meaningful tone, "What do you think Isabella's intention was in letting her sister become Albert's mistress? Remember, the sisters live with Albert, and there's no room for another mistress in that house."
"Now you understand why Isabella, as a wife, doesn't mind her husband having multiple mistresses!" Valeria revealed this cruel truth to Janila, "We are just Albert's mistresses. It's important to know our place."
Valeria's words seemed to be directed at no one in particular.
"Of course I know, but who can predict the future?" Louise remained calm about it; even if she lost, she could accept it gracefully. It wasn't as if she would be left with nothing.
After all, she had simply chosen a different path.
If you don't love Albert sincerely and invest your emotions in him, why would you expect him to dedicate his energy to loving you?
This was Louise's genuine thought.
Otherwise, what use were their beautiful faces and devilish figures?
Albert didn't lack female attention.
"Hermione Granger became Albert's first mistress instead of Katrina, who lives with him, for a reason."
"Hermione Granger? I feel like I've heard that name somewhere... Wait, isn't she Krum's..." Janila was genuinely confused.
"Yes, that ordinary girl named Hermione Granger became Albert's mistress before Isabella's sister. Valeria pouted, "Louise probably got her inspiration from that woman. After all, Hermione Granger's appearance is quite ordinary, and her ability to gain Albert's favor is likely because they were close friends with an emotional connection."
"I don't think she's ordinary at all. She just doesn't spend much time on her appearance. But any girl who becomes Albert's mistress wouldn't be ordinary; otherwise, she'd only be his friend, not his mistress."
Louise understood men's nature well. Although Albert might not care about beautiful women, it didn't mean he would choose an ugly woman as his mistress.
It was human nature.
Moreover, Valeria's hostility towards Hermione Granger seemed excessive, which wasn't a good thing. Even if she didn't like someone, she shouldn't express it openly.
That would only put Albert in a difficult position, and as his mistresses, they shouldn't make things hard for him.
"So, Albert has six mistresses?"
Janila quickly counted the number of girls, suddenly feeling the pressure.
Albert had quite a few mistresses.
This was a rare situation even in the magical world.
"Yes, too many mistresses isn't good."
With limited time to meet and interact each year, the relationships would inevitably grow distant over time.
But there was nothing they could do about it.
"Speaking of Granger, why wasn't she here yesterday?" Janila seemed to have remembered something.
"Who knows? She didn't attend the last banquet either, so she probably won't be here this time," Valeria didn't want to see Hermione at the estate.
"She will come," Louise said softly, "If Hermione Granger truly loves Albert, she'll definitely attend this year's Christmas Ball. If I were her, I wouldn't mind fulfilling Albert's small desire."
"So, have you decided what dress you'll wear to the Christmas Ball?" Katherine reminded her, "As one of the key figures at the event, it's best to leave a deep impression on Albert from the start."
Katherine could tell that Janila was considering the emotional route, but how could that possibly succeed? Albert's time and energy were limited, and most of it would be dedicated to his wife and children. Even Katrina might not get much attention, let alone anyone else. Where would he find the time to date other girls?
"If you don't have a suitable choice, you can consider our designs. Don't wear a bikini like Valeria did last time." As Louise spoke, she waved her wand, summoning a notebook filled with sketches of highly revealing clothing designs, and handed it to Janila.
"I think a bikini is just fine. It's simple, convenient, and shows less fabric, allowing me to better showcase my figure to Albert." Valeria finished her statement with a proud display of her impressive chest.
"What are you two planning to wear?" Janila intended to borrow some ideas from the other girls; if not, she'd follow Valeria's lead and wear a bikini.
In fact, her suitcase contained several sets of bikinis.
"This was one of our backup plans," Katherine pointed at the Y-shaped wedding dress, "If you think it's inappropriate, you can consider Louise's backup option. When dealing with men, it's best to make yourself more charming."
