Chapter 172: Fury Arrives (Third Update)
……
“Wizard Miss, we have a lead. The police station’s records show that this morning they received an alarm from the town hospital. A stranger who didn’t belong to this town attacked them. I’ve already sent people… uh…”
Coulson had just walked into the room when he saw Thor sitting on the sofa, chugging a large glass of ice-cold beer and chatting animatedly with Jerry.
As a top agent, Coulson immediately recognized Thor as the stranger in the hospital’s photo.
“That’s Mr. Coulson, no need to send anyone. This is the owner of Mjolnir, Mr. Thor!”
Jerry waved his wand, once again turning the large glass of water Thor had fetched from the water dispenser into an ice-cold beer.
“Hello, I am Thor, son of Odin!”
At that moment, Thor paused his story about leading the Asgardian Warriors into the Frost Giant Realm to greet Coulson.
Unfortunately, his Thor’s Power had been sealed by his father, Odin, leaving his body only slightly stronger than an ordinary human. According to Jerry, he needed to build a good relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. if he wanted to retrieve his Mjolnir.
Thor still believed that once he reclaimed his hammer, he could break Odin’s seal and restore his powers.
Coulson was stunned for a moment before he managed to wave in greeting.
“Hello, welcome to Earth!”
After a bit of conversation, Jerry had a general understanding of why Thor was here.
In short, the soon-to-be crowned prince, young and eager, wanted to wage war to achieve the same legendary victories as his father.
This led to a confrontation with the old king, who, in a fit of anger, stripped Thor of all his abilities and sent him down to experience life among mortals.
During their chat, Thor also mentioned the Nine Realms, Asgard, the Bifrost, and other concepts that left Jerry feeling a bit lost.
Initially, Jerry thought that beyond Earth was the Milky Way, an endless universe filled with countless civilizations.
In The Avengers, the invaders were an alien army, and the purple potato spirits seemed to be an extraterrestrial race as well.
But according to Thor, Earth was known as Midgard, the center of Yggdrasil. In the Yggdrasil system, there were eight other realms, including Asgard, Vanaheim, Alfheim, and more, making up the Nine Realms.
Thor also mentioned that the Frost Giants from Jotunheim had once invaded the human world, but it was the Asgardian gods who fought and suppressed them.
After hearing Thor’s explanation, not only was Jerry confused, but even the astrophysicist Eric and Jane looked bewildered.
However, Jerry didn’t delve too deeply into these matters. He knew that the Marvel universe was a chaotic mix of alien technology, magic, and gods. Trying to understand everything would only lead to more confusion.
What interested him more were the magic-related topics Thor mentioned. Asgard had mages, and both his mother and his brother, Loki, knew magic.
They also used runes, and many magic books were written in runes.
However, what surprised Jerry was that the Asgardian Mages Thor mentioned all used the power of the Tree of Life to cast Magic, unlike him, who possessed Magic Power within his own body.
This came as quite a surprise to him.
Jerry had always believed that power should belong to oneself, and borrowed power was never as reassuring to use.
He actually wanted to ask Thor more about Magic, but unfortunately, Thor himself wasn't very knowledgeable on the subject.
Although he had lived for one thousand five hundred years, during that time, he had been focused on playing with his hammer. If you asked him about the one hundred and eight ways to smash enemies into pulp with a hammer, he could definitely provide a satisfactory answer.
But if you asked him about the principles of Magic or more detailed Magic knowledge, he would be at a loss.
Jerry's entire knowledge of Magic came from two Magic Pocket Realms, and he knew almost nothing about the Magic of the Marvel world.
So he wanted to understand what the Magic of the Marvel world was like and whether it could be integrated into his own Magic system to make his Magic even more powerful.
Additionally, he had yet to encounter a Mage in the Main World. Where had all the human Mages gone?
Inside the S.H.I.E.L.D. vehicle heading to the base, Coulson, while driving, asked Jerry in a low voice from the passenger seat:
"Is he really the legendary Thor? He seems different from what I imagined!"
Jerry turned to glance at Thor, who was chatting with Jane in the back seat, looking very cheerful:
"It should be him. As he said, his Thor's Power is sealed, and he needs to retrieve that hammer to possibly restore it!"
"Alright, then we'll have to wait for Director Fury to make the decision!"
Thor's identity and background were too significant. Whether or not to allow Thor to pick up his hammer and restore Thor's Power was not something a mere senior agent could decide.
Because if handled poorly, it could potentially strain the relationship between the two civilizations.
So, before they left, he had reported the situation to Fury. If everything went as planned, by the time they arrived at the base, Fury would also be there, having arrived on a supersonic jet.
Behind Thor stood the entire Asgardian pantheon, the rulers of the Nine Realms, and the gods once revered by humanity. Thor was the future king of Asgard.
If all of this was true, then Thor represented not just an alien, but a super-civilization that surpassed current human technology. Caution was paramount.
Of course, this was all predicated on Thor telling the truth and Jerry's judgment being correct.
"Alright, Son of S.H.I.E.L.D., can you take me to my hammer now?"
After the car stopped, Thor turned to ask Coulson.
"Mr. Thor, I'm afraid that—"
Coulson was about to refuse when a command came through his earpiece, causing him to change his tune:
"Of course, I'll take you there right away!"
It turned out that due to the significance of the matter, Fury had acted immediately upon receiving the report and had already arrived at the base, taking command of the entire facility.
The command Coulson had just received was from Fury.
Jerry glanced at Coulson in surprise, quickly understanding the situation, and said nothing more. He followed the group toward the location of Mjolnir.
However, since Thor had been personally banished by Odin, would it really be that easy for him to restore his divine powers?
Jerry was skeptical!
