Chapter 1718: A War with No Victor (Part 168)
Chapter 1718: A War with No Victor (Part 168)
Albert had an impeccable reputation.
This was one of the reasons the girls felt secure in being his secret mistresses; they never feared losing their future over it.
A life's gamble where one couldn't lose—those with a bit of daring wouldn't mind placing their bets.
As for how much one could win, that depended on their own abilities!
Janila clearly understood this. If she wanted to attain a status akin to that of a wife, like Katherine, she knew she had to fight for it.
However, Janila, who had finally achieved her wish to be with Albert, couldn't seem to shake off her melancholy...
"You two weren't like this before!"
It's uncertain if it was to teach her this private knowledge, but the girls took turns having Albert try every position in front of the maiden.
After all the commotion, the girls were exhilarated, not the least bit sleepy, causing Janila to also stay awake. She wanted to join the subsequent banquet, but this was obviously not permitted by the other girls. Since Janila had already had her time with Albert, it was only fair to leave the remaining opportunities to the others.
It's uncertain if it was because they were too caught up in the moment, but Valeria even took out the little toy she had brought.
Unfortunately, Isabella and Katrina merely glanced at it and lost interest in the Muggle toy. The sister duo, who were often satisfied, didn't crave fulfillment like the other girls.
Moreover, with Albert right there, the other girls didn't care for the toy Valeria had brought out.
Valeria wanted to use it herself, but she felt the banquet wouldn't last too long, so she put it away.
She was right.
Tonight, everyone refrained from overdoing it. After all, staying up late was not only bad for the skin but also for the body. Additionally, the girls had to consider Albert's physical condition, and Isabella was always vigilant about this. No one objected to this; no one wanted to be foolish and overstep their bounds.
After casting a spell to change the bedding in the sunroom, everyone reclined on the soft cushions and whispered to each other.
Albert, after cleaning himself with a warm, damp towel, held Janila and prepared to sleep.
After all, Janila was the protagonist tonight, and he had promised her.
"How do you feel?" Albert asked the girl in his arms.
"It feels amazing."
Janila turned over and hugged Albert like an octopus.
"To be honest, I rarely interact with guys, and surprisingly, I didn't feel any negative emotions the first time." Even Janila found this incredible.
"This must be what it feels like to like someone!"
Albert seemed to have thought of something and suddenly asked, "Does it still hurt? You should take care of it first, or you'll suffer for the next few days."
"Louise helped me with it," Janila said pitifully. "But it still hurts, and it's all swollen."
"You'll have to get used to it slowly. Forcing it might hurt you."
"Can... can I come to see you often?"
"Our relationship needs to be kept secret," Albert didn't directly answer the question. "And next summer, I plan to start a world tour, so we'll probably have to meet at fixed times."
"Why the sudden decision to go on a world tour?" Katherine felt there was more to this than Albert's simple explanation.
"Well, something unpleasant might happen in Britain soon, and I don't want to get caught up in it. So, I plan to use this opportunity to travel and explore this magical world.
"Albert spoke honestly, and he really didn't want to get entangled in the upcoming disputes.
The ladies knew when to stop, and they didn't press further. Soon, they drifted into slumber, lulled by the howling winds and snow outside.
...
When Albert woke from his exhaustion, the sunroom was still dimly lit due to the swirling snow outside.
Thankfully, Isabella and Katrina, who had woken up early, had already taken care of everything, sparing Albert the trouble of handling the aftermath.
"Speaking of which, the food here is incredibly abundant," Janila said, finally managing to get out of bed and gazing at the lavish lunch spread before her with astonishment. She wondered if the Christmas Gala was still ongoing.
"It's indeed more lavish than usual, but Albert needs a good supply of food, or how can he satisfy you all?" Isabella prepared a high-protein, nourishing meal for Albert, leaving Janila in disbelief at the abundance.
After flipping through the latest issue of the Prophet Daily, Albert began to enjoy the hearty meal. The portion wasn't excessive, but the problem was that Isabella, in her concern for her husband's health, had opted for smaller, more frequent meals.
After indulging in the sumptuous lunch, Albert used the Time Converter to visit his family and check on Little Alice. He then made a detour to see Hermione before finally heading to Avalon to join the others.
Avalon was livelier than usual, with everyone preparing for the upcoming Christmas festivities. Even Harry and Ginny were lending a hand, clearly not wanting to miss out on this year's celebration.
"Did Hermione go to Australia by herself?"
Ron was shocked upon hearing this unfortunate news.
"She mentioned spending Christmas with her family first," Albert said, pausing before continuing, "but she'll be back before Christmas."
In fact, Albert had just dropped by to see Hermione, and she had been busy with her dress all evening. She was still asleep!
Fortunately, Hermione's dress was almost ready, and she had clearly taken Albert's advice.
Watching Ron's dejected figure, Albert was surprised. He hadn't expected Ron's longing for Hermione to be even deeper than he had imagined.
"Little Ron is adorably foolish," Fred said, appearing out of nowhere.
"You're not one to talk," George stuffed the firework launcher into Fred's arms.
"I've already won Angelina over, and she's living with me now," Fred boasted, tilting his head proudly. "We've even discussed when we'll get married."
"Yeah, yeah, you're the best."
George humored Fred and sent him off with the firework launcher to find Ginny for registration. As he watched Fred leave, he shook his head and quipped, "Fred's been obsessed with women lately, neglecting everything else. If I didn't know Angelina, I'd suspect she'd bewitched him."
Albert, having been through similar experiences, understood Fred's reaction and laughed, changing the subject, "Don't just talk about Fred. What about you? Any progress?"
"Me? Of course. She's agreed to move in with me after this project is completed," George wasn't in a rush. He understood that their relationship needed time to grow, especially since they were not only engaged but had also set a wedding date.
"Sounds great."
"You can't miss our wedding day."
