Chapter 171: Remember, There are No Trolls in Hogwarts
Chapter 171: Remember, There are No Trolls in Hogwarts
Kyle sat in the Common Room, keeping a close eye on the Marauder's Map. After about ten minutes, Qilo's name finally appeared on the map.
Kyle's eyes lit up, and he rose from his seat, leaving the Common Room. On the map, Qilo wasn't heading towards the Great Hall but was instead circling around the castle.
Kyle followed behind, maintaining a distance of one corridor between them to avoid detection. With the Marauder's Map in hand, he wasn't worried about losing track of Qilo.
After some twists and turns, Qilo finally stopped, and Kyle, keeping an eye on the map, ducked into an empty classroom nearby.
A few moments later, Qilo's name began moving rapidly towards the Great Hall.
Once Kyle confirmed Qilo had moved on, he quickly left the empty classroom and hurried towards where Qilo had been.
As he turned the corner, a foul odor assaulted his nostrils.
The stench was even more overpowering than Michael's potions, and despite Kyle's preparation, it made his eyes water.
He then heard a low grumble and the sound of large feet dragging on the ground.
Not far ahead, a massive creature, standing at twelve feet tall, was moving towards him.
Its skin was dull and gray, its head a small walnut-sized lump, making it appear both gigantic and foolish.
Additionally, its arms were as thick as tree trunks, and below were flat, calloused, and rough feet.
The repulsive odor emanated from its body.
Kyle instantly recognized the creature as the troll he was seeking, and it was the largest mountain troll he had ever seen.
"Jackpot!" Kyle exclaimed, taking two excited steps forward.
The troll, noticing Kyle's movement, roared and quickened its pace.
Due to their converging paths, the troll and Kyle soon came face-to-face.
The troll roared again and raised the wooden club in its hand, seemingly intending to swat the ant-like obstacle in its path.
"Wait, I can take you to food!" Kyle shouted.
The troll immediately froze, tilting its walnut-like head as it struggled to comprehend the meaning of the words.
"You're hungry, I'll take you to food!"
Kyle repeated himself.
"Eat! Food!"
The troll finally understood.
It lowered the wooden club and grumbled incomprehensibly.
"Yes, eat!" Kyle said, suppressing the foul odor and trying to appear as friendly as possible. "I'll take you there!"
He took a step back, and the troll followed.
"Got it!"
Kyle was delighted and quickly grabbed a box, opened it, and placed it on the ground.
All he needed now was for the troll to step on the box.
Holding his breath, Kyle took two steps back.
...
But at that moment, a piercing scream shattered the air.
The troll, startled, immediately lowered its raised club.
Clumsily, it turned and blinked its ugly little eyes, trying to discern the source of the sound.
Soon, it saw a small brown figure.
"Ahhhh!"
Hermione's scream intensified as the troll spotted her.
The troll painfully pounded its head with its palm, and in its ugly little eyes, Hermione's image transformed into a round, plump bird.
In an instant, the troll's rationality vanished.
Forgetting Kyle's existence, it began moving towards Hermione.
"I..."
"!"
Kyle was stunned.
He was just one step away from capturing the troll, but Hermione's sudden appearance had completely ruined his plan.
Kyle was frustrated, pounding the wall in frustration. He chased after her, shouting words like "dinner" and "food," hoping to attract the troll's attention once more.
Regardless, he couldn't just stand by and watch Hermione walk to her death.
But for some reason, the troll seemed fixated on Hermione, ignoring Kyle's attempts to divert its attention.
Making matters worse, Hermione, who had been about to run away in fear, suddenly felt her legs give way, and she collapsed to the ground.
She curled up against the wall, looking like she might faint at any moment.
The troll slowly approached her, raising the wooden club in its hand as it walked.
"What's going on here?!" Kyle exclaimed. He raised his wand and shouted, "Wingardium Leviosa!"

The wooden club suddenly flew out of the troll's hand, soaring high into the air before slowly turning around and falling to hit its owner on the head.
With a loud bang, the troll wobbled in place and fell face down on the ground, causing the entire corridor to shake with a loud rumble.
Hermione, sitting there, stared in disbelief and asked, "Is... is it dead?"
"Pfft, you're not even grateful!" Kyle scoffed.
He quickly walked over to check on the troll. Thankfully, it still had a pulse.
Kyle breathed a sigh of relief. If possible, he really didn't want to do this.
Although the troll was stupid, it could still understand his words. Who knows if this blow would also take away the little intelligence it had left?
That was not the outcome Kyle wanted to see.
But now, it was too late to say anything.
Kyle summoned the box on the ground, intending to stuff the troll inside. However, he thought for a moment and took out his wand first.
"Scourgify!"
"Cleansing Charm!"
After casting several cleaning spells in a row, the troll's body became much cleaner, and the foul odor also diminished significantly.
Kyle had originally wanted to continue, but the sound of hurried footsteps from a distance made him change his mind. He quickly stuffed the troll into the box.
"Remember, you didn't see anything," Kyle said sternly to Hermione. "You accidentally fell, and there was no troll, got it?"
Hermione stared at him with wide eyes and nodded dumbly.
"Good," Kyle said, holding the box. He helped Hermione up as if nothing had happened.
"Hermione!"
"Thank goodness, you're here!"
On the other side of the corridor, Harry and Ron rushed over.
"There's a troll in the dungeon!" Ron panted. "Headmaster Dumbledore told us to go back to our dormitories. You... hmm? Kyle, you're here too?"
"Yes, I was on my way to the Great Hall and happened to run into Miss Granger here," Kyle explained with a smile.
"You said there's a troll in the dungeon? How is that possible at Hogwarts?" Kyle asked with a concerned expression.
"I assure you, I'm not joking," Ron replied quickly. "Professor Quirrell told us during the Halloween feast, and then he fainted."
"Oh, that's... that's really dangerous," Kyle said gravely. "A troll is not something we can handle. I'm leaving now, and you should head back to the tower as well."
Throughout the entire conversation, Hermione remained silent, watching Kyle with a look of shock and disbelief.
If she hadn't just experienced everything firsthand, she would have believed every word Kyle said.
Why was he so skilled?
Could he really be the top student in the year?
