Chapter 1709: A War Without Winners (Part 159)
Chapter 1709: A War Without Winners (Part 159)
In the end, Hermione didn't sign up for the on-campus registration and boarded the Express Train along with the other Hogwarts students who were leaving the school.
The reason was simple; whether she chose to stay in the school dormitories or camp in Avalon, Hermione's every move would inadvertently catch the attention of her colleagues.
If she suddenly disappeared for a relatively long period, most people wouldn't ask where she had gone, but they would inevitably become curious or suspicious.
Neither Hermione nor Albert wanted this situation, as when someone acts overly mysterious, their secrets are often one step away from being exposed.
Rather than dealing with that, it was better to have a legitimate reason: to visit her family in Australia.
Hermione first went to Avalon to inquire about the Christmas Ball with Shanna and then left with her handbag.
Before departing, she didn't forget to assure Shanna that she would return to Avalon to celebrate Christmas with everyone after spending the holiday with her family in Australia.
After declining the offer to stay at the Estate Villa, Hermione moved into the secret love nest that Albert had prepared for them.
However, the house wasn't ready for occupancy, so Albert had to lend Hermione his suitcase temporarily.
Hermione was delighted, as the suitcase held special significance for her.
"You think I shouldn't stay in Avalon, right?"
After giving Albert a long kiss, Hermione shared her thoughts, knowing that living in a community of acquaintances made it challenging to keep many things hidden.
"Dear, you can write a book like I did," Albert said, pulling Hermione to sit on the sofa and sharing his idea.
Write a book!
Most authors typically needed a quiet, undisturbed place to work, and it was normal for them to stay out of sight. The time they spent away was often dedicated to brainstorming and writing their books.
As for the content, it would naturally be about Harry Potter's legendary student days.
As Harry's close friend and a firsthand witness to the Second Wizarding War, Hermione had so much to write about.
"This book will be a bestseller," Albert said.
Hermione knew he was trying to boost her confidence, and her heart felt warm. She kissed him again, and they ended up in a passionate embrace.
She had thought she would have a wonderful winter break, but things didn't always go as planned. That very evening, Hermione accepted Isabella's invitation and went to the Estate Villa that Albert had mentioned.
It was a truly beautiful estate, with lush greenery even in winter, said to be a gift from an elder to Albert.
If Hermione hadn't moved into the secret love nest Albert had prepared for them, she would likely have stayed in this grand estate. Unfortunately, Hermione didn't like it because Albert's lovers would temporarily stay in this estate when they came to Britain, and she didn't want to live with those unpleasant people.
As she chatted with Isabella in the sunroom equipped with a 'magical heater,' Hermione's mouth gradually dropped open in disbelief, finding it hard to believe that the dignified and elegant woman before her could say such things.
Isabella took a sip of her tea and, looking at the blushing and flustered girl on the sofa across from her, said softly, "It seems you're not quite ready yet."
"So, I have to dress up like..."
Hermione hesitated, having guessed what was going on but never expecting it to be like this.
"Of course, it's not necessary if you don't want to. It's just that..."
If Hermione were to be the odd one out, it would be awkward for her and might dampen the mood of the Christmas banquet. It might be better not to attend at all.
As Hermione struggled with her thoughts, Isabella's gentle voice rang out again, "After all, we are Albert's women, and whatever we wear is for him. Don't you think..."
Isabella seemed to realize something and her smile faded, her brows furrowing as she looked at Hermione, "Albert is very accommodating to you, but you're not fulfilling your role as a lover."
Hermione was taken aback, not expecting Isabella to speak so bluntly.
"As a lover, as a woman, you need to know how to please your man," Isabella stared into Hermione's eyes, "Even if you don't know how, you should learn."
"But I don't... I haven't..."
Hermione realized that she wasn't a competent lover, and it seemed that Albert was always the one making compromises for her.
"I guess that's true."
Isabella picked up her wand from the table and summoned a mannequin into thin air. The mannequin was dressed in a semi-transparent wedding dress, resembling white.
"Th-this..."
Hermione's face turned red, her head feeling like it was about to steam. She couldn't imagine herself wearing such a dress.
"This is the wedding dress Louise prepared for herself at the last gathering. Isn't it beautiful?" Isabella waved her wand lightly, and the mannequin disappeared.
"It's beautiful."
Hermione's expression was complex; she felt 'enticing' might be a more fitting description.
"Albert thinks so too, though he's reluctant to admit it. Louise is the most attentive in this regard, and she has a natural advantage," Isabella pouted, waving her wand again to summon a suitcase that appeared on the table between them.
As Hermione expected, the suitcase Isabella summoned contained a vast space, and inside was a display case with mannequins wearing several sets of 'dresses' that would make anyone blush, including Louise's wedding dress.
"Yours?"
Hermione noticed two dresses of different colors.
"The white one is mine, and the black one is Katrina's," Isabella said without embarrassment, "We occasionally wear them for Albert. Conjugal life needs a little charm."
"Even if you say that, I don't have a better idea. I can only buy a similar swimsuit in the Muggle world."
Hermione pointed to Valeria's swimsuit, already forming a plan in her mind.
"You can make one yourself."
Isabella opened the door to the adjacent room, revealing shelves filled with various fabrics.
"Here are the fabrics, tools, and design sketches you need."
"Don't you get bored?"
Hermione struggled to understand their mindset. Instinctively, she took the notebook made of parchment that Isabella handed her. Flipping through it, she found hand-drawn clothing designs, and surprisingly, each bold design had a unique icon at the bottom, apparently representing one of Albert's lovers.
"It's actually quite fun. If you don't want to join, you can borrow this box for a few days."
