Chapter 170: Qilo, Why Aren't You Here Yet?
Chapter 170: Qilo, Why Aren't You Here Yet?
As Kyle was abouting to return to the castle after leaving the greenhouse, he was stopped by the Harry duo.
"Thanks for the book, Kyle," Harry said, returning the book The Origins of Quidditch to him. "You were right, it's perfect for me. I've been studying the techniques in it, and during our last training session, Wood said my progress was incredible. It's like I've become a whole new person compared to before."
"You finished it so quickly?" Kyle took the book and smiled. "No wonder Professor McGonagall has high hopes for you, Harry. You truly have a gift."
"No, no, I just skimmed through it," Harry scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Maybe it's because I knew nothing about Quidditch before, so the progress seems more significant."
"No need to be modest, Harry," Kyle shook his head. "It took me over a month to fully grasp all the techniques in that book, but you managed to do it in half the time."
"Is that so..." Harry forced a stiff laugh, feeling guilty as he averted his gaze from Kyle.
Seeing his reaction, Kyle raised an eyebrow, as if he had guessed something.
"Do you need to borrow any other books?" Kyle asked. "I also have The Magic Quidditch Ball and How to Score Quickly. If you need them, I can bring them to the Great Hall for you later."
"No need!" Harry blurted out, "I mean, I'm really busy with homework and training... I hardly have time to read."
"Just let me know whenever you want to borrow them," Kyle nodded.
He had a pretty good idea of what was going on.
If he wasn't mistaken, the savior hadn't even finished reading The Origins of Quidditch. At most, he had probably read half of it.
But that was to be expected.
The thought of Harry Potter sitting down to read a book was quite terrifying.
For some reason, seeing the thoughtful look on Kyle's face made Harry feel even more guilty.
In reality, Kyle didn't know Harry well enough. He hadn't even read half of the book.
When Harry first started reading it, he was indeed very interested. On the first day, he stayed up until dawn reading and eventually fell asleep at his desk.
But this enthusiasm lasted only a day.
As the excitement wore off, the lengthy passages and complex terminology tested his patience. Coincidentally, it was around this time that Wood praised his significant progress, almost on par with Charlie.
Perhaps feeling he had learned enough, Harry only read a third of the book before losing motivation to continue.
Kyle exchanged a few more words with them before leaving.
At that moment, Ron, who was standing nearby, spoke up. "If only Hermione could be more like Kyle."
"What?" Harry was momentarily confused by his statement.
"Haven't you noticed? Hermione always talks to everyone in a condescending tone. It's unbearable, she's like a nightmare."
"Kyle is even better than her," Ron continued. "He's the top of our year, and the youngest recipient of the Special Award for Services to the School.
Whether it was guiding us before school started or lending you Quidditch books, he's always been patient in helping us, never once lecturing us."
"Don't say that, Ron."
"Harry whispered, "Hermione is actually quite nice sometimes."
"When...?" Ron asked.
Harry hesitated for a moment before whispering, "Remember when Filch was chasing us? She was the one who opened the door at the end of the corridor, saving us from being caught."
"Yeah, and then we were delivered right to the mouth of the Three-Headed Dog as a snack," Ron added.
Ron shuddered involuntarily and said with lingering fear, "Compared to that, I'd rather face Filch."
At this, even Harry fell silent.
On this point, he and Ron were in agreement.
Filch was indeed terrifying, but at least he wouldn't eat them as a snack.
"The Halloween Feast is about to start, let's hurry to the Great Hall," Harry suggested, changing the subject. "They say it's as grand as the opening feast, is that true?"
"It's even better," Ron replied, quickly putting Hermione out of his mind. "I heard from George that last year, Dumbledore invited the Headless Hunt to perform at the Halloween Feast."
"I wonder who he'll invite this year. I hope it's the Weird Sisters, they're the most popular band," Ron added.
Hearing this, Harry couldn't help but feel a bit excited.
He hadn't heard of the band "The Weird Sisters" before, but he understood what a band was.
[Unintelligible text]
While living with the Dursleys, he had never heard of any band performances, nor had he even watched any related TV shows.
This was because Dudley didn't like them.
The two of them quickly headed downstairs and left for the feast.
Meanwhile, Kyle made his way through the kitchen corridor's barrel and arrived at the Hufflepuff common room.
There weren't many people in the common room, just a handful, and as Kyle entered, they were preparing to leave for the feast.
Someone recognized him and asked with a smile, "Kyle? Are you going to the Great Hall?"
"I'd love to, but I can't right now. I need to go back to the dormitory to get something," Kyle replied. "You guys go ahead, I'll catch up soon."
"Alright, but you better hurry," an older student said. "The Halloween Feast is about to start."
"Don't worry, I've been looking forward to the feast since early morning," Kyle assured them.
Despite his words, Kyle had no intention of going to the Great Hall for the Halloween Feast.
He had more important matters to attend to that day.
After everyone left the common room, Kyle sat down on a sofa and took out a large piece of parchment.
It was the Marauder's Map that he had borrowed from Fred and George before Herbology class.
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good," Kyle recited the incantation, and soon, ink lines appeared on the Marauder's Map.
It was clear that almost everyone in the castle had gathered in the Great Hall or was on their way there, with only a few people remaining elsewhere.
Kyle searched the map but couldn't find the name Chilo anywhere.
A few minutes later, the feast began. Apart from Kyle, who was still in the common room, and Filch on the first floor, everyone else had made their way to the Great Hall.
"Isn't he coming?" Kyle frowned, surprised.
Chilo wouldn't be planning to cause trouble, would he?
No, that couldn't be right.
Kyle quickly dismissed this thought. The feast had just started, it probably wasn't time yet. He'd wait a bit longer.
