Chapter 170: Lanchi Almost Lost His Father
Chapter 170: Lanchi Almost Lost His Father
After Lanchi concluded the product launch demonstration for the autumn collection in the cathedral, the scene began to shift, and the deep, healing music from the organ within the cathedral swelled.
There, the Great Love Poet sat before the keyboard connected to the air tank, her smooth gray hair, falling from her gentle features, covering her pale back as she focused on playing. Her red dress stood out in contrast to her light complexion, and only her delicate silhouette was visible as she played with utmost concentration.
"What kind of love can make one empathize so deeply?" Lanchi's gentle voice narrated to the viewers in the secular world once more.
"It's hard to describe, but it's definitely there." As his voice trailed off, the camera began to move slowly, showcasing every detail of the grand Lichten Castle from various angles.
"You see, everything here is different." The scene changed to show the morning light streaming through the stained glass windows, crisscrossing and illuminating every corner, while the coffin swayed from side to side.
"The air is filled with vitality."
"Sound caresses you."
"Sunshine fills you."
"In the frosty sky, all creatures revel in freedom."
Until, beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the lush jungle on the mountaintop came into view, vibrant and brimming with life.
The camera panned through the cathedral's grand portico, out into the garden, and across the lawn where lounge chairs were placed. In the courtyard, under the shade of umbrellas, several men and women were preparing a barbecue and chopping up fruits and vegetables, enjoying a leisurely vacation.
"If you are fortunate enough, love will forever dwell within your life." Lanchi's voice continued as the music intensified and the camera gradually pulled away.
"It's like a bright morning star, purifying your soul, flowing through your blood, and driving away the gloom from your heart."
"With just a first glance, everything becomes meaningful."
In the instant the music stopped, the screen turned to black, displaying only a logo and two lines of text—
[Giant Love Company]
[From the Kingdom of Huton, Ikerite]
[Making Your Life Extraordinarily Unique]
"..."
At that moment, at Ikerite Academy...
The students sitting on the stone steps didn't quite know how to react and weren't too bold to comment on what they had just witnessed.
All they could say was that it would be best if this company didn't seek any investments.
"By the way, the academic visiting team from the Kingdom of Aloran will arrive at the school tomorrow morning."
"It's a pity they missed this product launch."
The students awkwardly steered the conversation in a different direction, acting as if nothing unusual had happened.
If Lanchi hadn't specialized in anti-blood tribe tactics, the blood tribe would have risked everything to get this bizarre thing replaced.
Even though it was a conceptual invention that might not be practical, the design Lanchi proposed spread like a virus, teaching people how to ultimately insult the blood tribe.
At the edge of the square...
"Lanchi... what is he doing?" Noe forced a smile, his facial muscles feeling stiff.
He had no idea what new species of creatures were in that coffin or whether Lanchi had any talent for advertising.
But what Lanchi was doing was undoubtedly the act of sacrificing merit points by the second!
Yet, the students' reactions in the square were calmer than Noe had imagined.
Perhaps there was a generation gap between him and the youth, making it hard for him to understand their perspective.
Or maybe the people of the royal capital, Ikerite, were just more avant-garde, and he, having spent most of his time in the borderlands, couldn't keep up with the latest trends.
Had Lanchi gone crazy, or had the entire school become bizarre along with him?
"Lanchi is accumulating virtue and good deeds!" Little Reporter Lu Weixier, standing next to Noe, snapped pictures excitedly as he laughed.
"?" Noe looked at Lu Weixier, whose behavior was absolutely abnormal.
He felt the strange atmosphere of the school intensifying.
Moreover...
The three guys who had pulled the coffin out of the cathedral earlier looked gentle and solemn, but there was something extremely terrifying about them. Just meeting their gaze made one feel as though their gravestone, engraved with their name, had already been prepared.
They sent chills down one's spine just watching them through the screen!
They didn't look like good people at all.
Noe was very worried that Lanchi had gotten mixed up with unsavory characters!
"Wait, is that really the school in the background?" Noe realized something.
He had originally thought that the cathedral was a building within the school, but when the camera angle changed, he noticed the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, perched atop a mountain.
Ikerite was a city of gentle terrain and numerous small rivers, making it a very livable place.
However, the mountains depicted in the footage seemed more akin to the mountainous cities of the northern Krexi Empire, nowhere near the terrain of the Huton Kingdom's capital.
"The footage is from the Shadow World," one of the students on the stone steps replied to Noe's unasked question.
This uncle must have missed Lanchi's intense and thrilling journey through the Shadow World yesterday.
"Shadow World?" Noe asked in surprise.
Usually, it would be quite an achievement for a first-year freshman to obtain a registered challenger's license from the Southern Continent's Shadow World Management Association within two months of enrollment.
How had Lanchi already ventured into the Shadow World?
And this Shadow World seemed to be of a high order!
The three frightening individuals in the footage were definitely not ordinary challengers.
"Yes, uncle, you probably don't recognize the man in the footage, do you? He's the fiercest freshman in our school. Just yesterday, he defeated the Destruction Saintess of the Reborn Church, captured Princess Alix of the Krexi Empire, and today, he's turned a vampire count into a mummy." The students on the steps eagerly introduced Lanchi to Noe.
On weekends, many residents of the Royal Capital would visit Ikerite Academy as if it were a public attraction.
It was understandable that someone might not grasp the unique style of Lanchi's Shadow World.
"????" Noe was at a loss for words.
His brain was frantically processing the overload of information.
"How... how is that possible...?"
"If you don't believe us, uncle, just buy today's issue of the Huton Times. There's a column in there detailing Lanchi and his companions' journey through the Shadow World yesterday!" The surrounding students enthusiastically recommended.
"Thank you." Feeling dazed, Noe hurried to a newsstand not far away and bought a copy of the Huton Times, flipping through it to find the mentioned column.
Soon, he located it.
His eyes scanned the newspaper, and his face gradually paled.
Meanwhile, the outdoor giant screen in the distance continued to play new audio-visual content.
After the advertisement ended, the live broadcast from the Shadow World resumed.
In the center of the cathedral, the leader of the Northern Continent team, a cleric, earnestly said to Lanchi, "Mr. Lanchi, would you reconsider joining the Church of the Goddess of Destiny? We hope to continue receiving your guidance."
"Although we have different faiths, our goals and aspirations are the same. Perhaps one day we will meet again, and by then, we will still be warriors striving to realize a world filled with great love." Lanchi encouraged the three individuals.
"The world will surely be filled with light and love. Love is invincible."
"We exist for the sake of love."
"We will spread Mr. Lanchi's great thoughts throughout the Northern Continent."
The executioner, the holy knight, and the cleric took turns conversing with Lanchi within the cathedral.
"..." Noe slowly turned his head, looking at the photos in the newspaper and comparing them to the three individuals on the giant screen.
These three guys...
Were they clerics of the Church of the Goddess of Destiny?
Immediately, Noe's heart raced as he read about the transformation of these three clerics into extreme fanatical cultists within the Shadow World, as described in the column.
In just one day.
"My goddess..."
"If this is a nightmare, please let me wake up..."
Noe felt his vision darken, and he collapsed to the ground.
"Someone fainted!"
"He still has a pulse; he should just be temporarily unconscious from the shock!"
"Indeed, Lanchi's Shadow World shouldn't be publicly broadcast during holidays; it might scare innocent bystanders!"
"Does anyone have a communication spell? Quick, contact a doctor from the Alchemy Institute!"
Chaos ensued at the newsstand, and soon a crowd of students gathered.
Some medically knowledgeable students then took the initiative to send the fainted gentleman to the Alchemy Institute for treatment.
Dad, da-da-da-dad, vote, vote, vote, vote!
