Chapter 17: The Three Top Universities
Chapter 17: The Three Top Universities (Please Follow and Read)
A deep voice suddenly echoed through the Martial Arts Classroom, silencing everyone.
A figure appeared in the doorway, his broad, muscular frame blocking the light. His shadow stretched across the floor like a dark monolith. As he strode in, an invisible pressure radiated from his body.
All eyes turned to him.
This was a towering man, his muscles like boulders fused together, a scar slashing across his face. He stood over two meters tall. Li Zhou, the year’s top student, looked like a rookie beside him.
This man has seen real combat, Lin Qi thought.
The giant strode to the center of the room.
“Ding!” The class bell rang.
“He’s incredibly strong!” Jiang Tao frowned.
Lin Qi nodded. The man’s aura was overwhelming. Even Wu Kang, a Third-Circle Martial Artist, paled in comparison. Those caught in his gaze stiffened, paralyzed by his presence.
Is he a Fourth-Circle Martial Artist?
The man scanned the room, his gaze sweeping over everyone.
“Hello, everyone!” His voice boomed, reverberating like a drum.
“I imagine many of you are curious about my identity. Correct—I’ll be your Martial Arts Instructor for Senior Year!”
He grinned.
“My name is Zhang Cheng. From today, I’m your teacher.”
“My methods differ from other instructors. Be prepared.”
A chill ran through the class.
Zhang Cheng continued, “You fifty are the elite of Second High School—exceptional talents. Now in the Elite Class, you’ll receive the finest training.”
“I am Second High School’s best Martial Arts Instructor. You’ll understand why soon enough.”
“Your goal? Admission to the three top universities: Azure Firmament University, Abyssal Sea University, and Imperial Mountain University.”
The room buzzed with excitement. Every martial artist in Xia Kingdom dreamed of these institutions—the cradle of national heroes, where graduates became the backbone of humanity’s defense against Disaster Beasts.
“Besides guaranteed spots for Special Ability prodigies, these universities admit fewer than ten thousand students nationwide each year. Only hundreds per province.”
“Less than half of you will make it.”
Zhang Cheng’s grin widened. “But I’m here to change that. Listen to me, and your chances improve. Want a better ranking? Listen to me.”
The class fell silent, the weight of his words sinking in.
“Entering the Elite Class means you’re no longer ordinary students. You’ll have exclusive resources—like your own Martial Arts Training Hall.”
“A hundred-square-meter space with a Training Post, free weapons, projectors, a private bathroom, a washing machine…”
Eyes lit up. “Outside, renting such a hall would cost 200-300 Xia Kingdom Dollars an hour! And here, it’s free?” Jiang Tao exclaimed.
Lin Qi marveled too. A free private training hall was like a free apartment—convenient for naps, undisturbed practice…
But Zhang Cheng’s next words cooled the excitement.
“Only the top thirty get a hall. We’ve expanded to thirty, but the rest must train in the main classroom.”
A competitive fire ignited. Lin Qi clenched his fists. 45th place… I need to break into the top thirty.
“Good! I see your determination!” Zhang Cheng laughed. “Today’s session ends here. Top thirty, claim your halls. The rest, stay here.”
He paused. “Those who haven’t learned the Advanced Weapon Manual—come to me.”
The class dispersed. Twenty-one students remained, three lingering.
Zhang Cheng raised an eyebrow. “Three left? I thought everyone would’ve learned the manual by now.”
Lin Qi glanced at Jiang Tao. He’s just cheap, hoping to freeload. Even with a million Xia Kingdom Dollars, Jiang Tao preferred free resources.
The third student stood silently.
“We humans are unique,” Zhang Cheng began. “Our strength lies in tools. Ancient warriors forged weapons to survive beasts. Barehanded, you’re prey. Armed, you’re the hunter.”
“You’ve mastered Fist Techniques. Now, learn a weapon.”
“Blades or spears?”
“Blades!” Jiang Tao and the third student answered.
“Lin Qi, you’re first.”
“Me?” Lin Qi blinked.
Zhang Cheng tapped his wristwatch. A green beam projected three holographic figures.
“Step back. Show me your spear techniques.”
