Chapter 17: Summoned by the Hokage
Chapter 17: Summoned by the Hokage
"... "
Feng Ye glanced at Hinata Hiromori.
He was so disinterested that he didn't even feel like responding, but he still made his way out of the crowd and into the empty space before the jonin teacher.
Seeing Feng Ye's lack of reaction, Hinata Hiromori furrowed his brows slightly and hmphed, "Is he a little too arrogant, Kakashi Fengye? Don't tell me you think you have the same talent as your little brother."
"Not at all," Feng Ye shrugged.
If Kakashi had time acceleration, he would be unstoppable.
The jonin teacher remained impartial to the hostility between Hinata and Feng Ye. After all, conflicts between students were common in the ninja academy, and teachers often encouraged a certain degree of competition to foster a spirit of rivalry.
"Go, Fengye!"
"Come on, Fengye! You can do it!"
Just then, several girls in the audience began to cheer, among them were Kurenai Yuhi and Yahiko.
Although Feng Ye wasn't ranked first in the class, his popularity was undeniable, and this was evident in the enthusiastic support he received.
The boys, however, gritted their teeth in frustration and shouted at Hinata in the arena.
"Damn it..."
"Hiromori, show him what you've got!"
"Beat him up good!"
The voices from behind only served to intensify Hinata Hiromori's sharp gaze.
After a brief pause, the jonin teacher waved his hand.
"Begin!"
Almost as soon as the jonin teacher's voice fell, Hinata Hiromori rushed towards Feng Ye, activating his Byakugan and immediately employing the Hyuga clan's signature Gentle Fist style.
Feng Ye, expressionless, wielded a kunai and swung it up and down, each movement precisely intercepting Hinata's punches and forcing him to interrupt his actions.
"This guy..."
After a brief exchange, Hinata's expression turned solemn. Although he didn't understand how Feng Ye was able to predict his moves, it seemed that his actions had been seen through.
However, he was not intimidated. If Feng Ye could see through his actions, then he, with the Byakugan, could do the same. In close-quarters combat, he was confident that Feng Ye's ninjutsu would be ineffective.
As the fight continued, Hinata knew that if Feng Ye showed even the slightest opening and was hit by his Gentle Fist, the unique nature of the style would inflict severe damage and weaken Feng Ye's combat capabilities.
"As expected of a descendant of that clan, able to withstand the Hyuga clan's Gentle Fist style," the jonin teacher praised from the sidelines.
While Feng Ye couldn't compare to Kakashi, he was undoubtedly an exceptional student in the class. Being able to hold his own against the Hyuga clan's taijutsu in close-quarters combat was impressive, but if the fight continued this way, the situation would only become more unfavorable for Feng Ye.
After all, the Byakugan's observational power far surpassed that of normal eyes, and the damage inflicted by the Gentle Fist style could cause debilitating injuries with each strike.
The cheers of encouragement faded away.
Whether it was Kurenai Yuhi or Shisui Uchiha, they all watched intently, their eyes fixed on the fierce battle between Feng Ye and Hinata Hiromori.
"So this is the Hyuga clan's Gentle Fist style..."
Feng Ye blocked Hinata's attacks while carefully observing his opponent's techniques. To him, there was something to be learned from the Hyuga clan's fighting style.
Even though in the original story, the Eight Inner Gates style had completely overshadowed the Gentle Fist style, in reality, when mastered, the Gentle Fist style also possessed terrifying techniques that were no less formidable than the Eight Inner Gates. One such technique was the 'Eighty God Empty Strike' of Kaguya Otsutsuki, capable of easily overwhelming even a complete Susanoo!
The difference between the hard and soft styles lay in how they utilized chakra. The hard style involved an internal explosion of chakra, enhancing the body's speed, resulting in pure taijutsu. In contrast, the soft style used chakra as a 'bullet', fired from the body, and required a delicate understanding of chakra control.
"Without the Byakugan, it's impossible to see through the secrets of the Gentle Fist style..." Feng Ye murmured to himself.
Merely observing from the surface was not enough to comprehend the intricacies of the Gentle Fist.
Hiromori Hyuga relentlessly assaulted, his Byakugan capturing Feng Ye's movements, forcing him back with each strike, and establishing a clear dominance in the fight.
"Looks like Fengye is going to lose."
"Of course. His opponent is a genius of the Hyuga clan."
Witnessing this scene, several people began whispering among themselves.
And just then, a figure suddenly appeared on one side of the empty space, causing many to pause and turn their gazes toward the newcomer.
The person wore a cat-faced mask and a cloak, clearly identifying them as a Konoha Anbu ninja.
The Anbu ninja glanced at the ongoing battle between Feng Ye and Hiromori Hyuga but paid no heed to the other students or the jonin teacher. Instead, he addressed Feng Ye directly: "Fengye Hatake, the Hokage requests your presence."
Feng Ye sheathed his kunai and took two steps back, turning toward the Anbu ninja. He sighed inwardly but revealed no hint of surprise.
So, it's finally here.
It would be difficult for last night's incident not to be traced back to him, especially since he had used the Hatake clan's sword techniques in the end.
He had considered pinning it on Kakashi but quickly dismissed the idea as futile. Not only would it be easily exposed, but it could also put Kakashi in danger.
The appearance of the Anbu startled the jonin teacher and the other students.
"...The Hokage... is summoning Fengye?"
"What happened?"
Many of them wore confused and suspicious expressions as they looked at Feng Ye.
Hiromori Hyuga also paused, furrowing his brows slightly. He had not expected such an interruption just as he was about to defeat Feng Ye. "The fight isn't over yet..."
He didn't get to finish his sentence.
Being summoned by the Hokage was undoubtedly a much more important matter than the combat test, so there was no choice but to interrupt the match. This left Hiromori feeling slightly displeased as he knew defeating Feng Ye was only a matter of time, and now it seemed that outcome would remain uncertain.
The jonin teacher also understood the gravity of the situation and nodded to Feng Ye. "Go see the Hokage first. If there's time when you get back, we can continue the fight."
However, Feng Ye shook his head. "No need."
Now that last night's incident had been traced back to him, there was no point in pretending that the fight with Hiromori Hyuga was a draw.
As soon as he finished speaking, Feng Ye's figure vanished from where he stood and reappeared silently at Hiromori Hyuga's right side.
Hiromori's expression changed, and he threw a punch without hesitation.
Boom!!
The punch blocked Feng Ye's movement and landed squarely on his chest, but it felt like it had hit nothing substantial. Feng Ye's body turned into white smoke and dissipated, revealing it to be a clone!
"Damn it!"
Hiromori Hyuga mentally cursed himself. His Byakugan could see through clones, but the situation had caught him off guard. His sidestep and punch were instinctive actions, and he hadn't considered that Feng Ye could still use a clone technique at such high speeds. By the time he realized his mistake, it was too late to pull back.
Silent as a ghost.
Feng Ye's true body appeared behind Hiromori Hyuga.
Boom!!
A simple hand chop struck Hiromori's back, disrupting his stance, and he fell forward, landing face-first on the ground with a thud.
"Let's go."
Feng Ye retracted his hand and turned to the Anbu ninja.
The Anbu ninja gave Feng Ye a deep look before leaping toward the Hokage's building. Feng Ye followed suit.
Only the stunned jonin teacher and a crowd of bewildered students were left behind.
Silence fell.
What just happened?
