Chapter 17: Manual, Blueprints, and Filling the Gaps
Chapter 17: Manual, Blueprints, and Filling the Gaps
By the end of the day, Moyer Qin and the Blood Demon had little to show for their efforts. The surrounding area had already been cleared of monsters and resources by the Blood Demon, leaving no room for others to thrive in his territory.
These resources and monsters could not respawn, and due to the Initial Development Stage, they were mostly immobile, confined to a single area.
This led to a significant resource gap, meaning that all Lords had limited resources within a certain range during the Initial Development Stage.
However, it wasn't a total loss. They had thoroughly cleared a ten-kilometer radius, gathering any overlooked resources and eliminating any stragglers.
They also opened a wooden treasure chest, which contained a total of five hundred units of various materials, including wood and minerals. The real surprise was a blueprint for a Mercury Refinery, which could produce the special resource, Mercury. The Refinery required 100 units of wood, 100 units of minerals, and 10 units of each of four special resources to build.
Mercury Refinery
Each unit of troops stationed here can produce 1 unit of Mercury per day, with a maximum of 10 units. (0/10)
Expansion: 100 units of wood, 100 units of minerals, 10 units of Mercury, 10 units of Gems, 10 units of Sulfur, 10 units of Crystals
The expansion requirements were a bit much, and he hadn't considered them yet. The production was relatively low, with one unit of troops producing only 1 unit of Mercury per day, compared to 10 units of wood or minerals from a Lumber Mill or Quarry. However, Mercury was a special resource, so it was understandable.
Upon returning, Moyer Qin built two Mercury Refineries and assigned ten Goblins to work in them, looking forward to the next day's harvest.
"Still need to find buildings to produce Gems, Crystals, and Sulfur," Moyer Qin thought. He knew that obtaining the blueprints for these buildings would be challenging, as there were few resources left in his area.
The Initial Development Stage had only one day left, so Moyer Qin returned to his Mage Tower territory at dusk. The Blood Demon didn't return but instead escorted Moyer Qin back to his territory and then set out with ten Goblins to sweep the area, planning to return by the next evening.
His territory was lacking in many aspects, and Goblins were not skilled in combat.
"Still not strong enough," Moyer Qin sighed, then took out the blueprint for the Goblin Workshop.
Although he already had the building, learning the blueprint wasn't the point. The key was the knowledge contained within it, such as the use of magic to transform Garden Gnomes into Goblins.
He had a general understanding from the Goblin Experiment Handbook, but without the corresponding magical data, many things were left to guesswork. With the Goblin Workshop blueprint, Moyer Qin could fill in the gaps in his data and even build his own workshop if needed.
"From what I can see, the core of the Goblin Workshop is the magical transformation process, using a set procedure to convert Garden Gnomes into Goblins. The technology isn't advanced, and it's one of the lowest-tier transformations in mage creations, almost obsolete," Moyer Qin reflected. With the blueprint and the Goblin Experiment Handbook, he now had a solid theoretical foundation.
This was all about filling the gaps. Goblins were just low-tier mage creations. In another book, Advanced Goblin Experiment Handbook, he had seen more advanced beast-like creations, revealing the extent of the mages' madness, which far exceeded his imagination.
Creatures like centaurs, minotaurs, and harpies are generally used by mages as servants, playthings, and guards. These creations, while inspired by genuine monsters, are fundamentally different. Most of these beastly constructs have elven origins, a stroke of bad luck for the elves.
More powerful creations include titanic golems and rakshasa kings. The former are massive puppets, while the latter are the pinnacle of beastly humanoids in terms of combat prowess.
Unfortunately, the Advanced Elemental Experiment Handbook only briefly mentions these creations without providing detailed descriptions.
The development of mages is often a history of the suffering of various races, especially the elves. Their innate affinity for nature and elements makes them ideal subjects for experimentation.
Qin Muye also discovered the predecessor of the elemental constructs, a low-tier fire elemental known as a fire imp. These fire imps are skilled in repair and construction. Mages studied their structure to create loyal elemental constructs, which, although they lost their fire attributes, gained more intelligent minds and dexterous hands.
By sacrificing their original combat abilities, these elemental constructs gained more refined life skills. With sufficient training, an elemental construct can become a competent mage assistant and quickly adapt to various roles in different industries.
In essence, they are a specialized labor force, similar to peasants.
Through the Advanced Elemental Experiment Handbook and the knowledge from the elemental construct factory, Qin Muye learned about the advanced form of elemental constructs, known as greater elemental constructs. These greater constructs grow from their small size to match the height of a human, making them more capable of serving mages.
The elemental construct factory produces greater elemental constructs. Their skills remain the same, but their attributes are enhanced, increasing from 0 attack and 0 defense to 3 attack and 2 defense. Although they are still 1st-tier units, their attributes far surpass those of regular elemental constructs.
However, Qin Muye had no intention of building an elemental construct factory. While the greater constructs seemed appealing, they were not particularly useful. He didn't need the extra 3 attack and 2 defense. Instead, he wanted to further enhance the potential and practical value of the elemental constructs.
For example, could he advance their tier?
By studying the experiment handbook and the two building blueprints, he could create greater elemental constructs himself. The technique he used to heal the magical blood was a crude and unstable version of the greater elemental construct technology. It only became champion-level due to his lack of knowledge and a bit of luck.
A mature and stable form of elemental construct evolution is the greater elemental construct.
"Magic is the key to the elemental constructs. If possible, could their potential be further bound to magic?"
Qin Muye understood that the potential of elemental constructs lay in their internal magic, specifically the skills of magical constitution and magical intelligence.
To further develop their potential, he needed to delve deeper into their magical properties.
For instance, a more comprehensive integration with magic. This could be inspired by the original form of elemental constructs, such as the fire imps, which are fire-based spirits.
Other mages might find it difficult to conduct further research, as studying elemental constructs is less beneficial than studying creatures like lamias or gargoyles.
But Qin Muye and his elemental constructs were different. They came from the Era of Lords, and the elemental constructs were more like void creations rather than transformed garden elves.
Wouldn't it be better to transform a garden elf into a more powerful beastly humanoid rather than a weak elemental construct?
From this, Qin Muye deduced that elemental constructs were likely already obsolete in the eyes of mages.
