Chapter 168: That Man Flying in the Sky, Is He the Great Savior Harry Potter?
Chapter 168: That Man Flying in the Sky, Is He the Great Savior Harry Potter?
As the car drew closer, Hermione could clearly see the look of terror on Ron's face as he drove. Harry didn't look much better, clearly showing that driving a magical car was still a bit too much for the two of them, especially one that could drive itself and had a mind of its own.
"Harry, Ron!" Hermione was so frightened that she quickly rolled down the window and shouted at them.
Harry and Ron, who were sitting in the magical car, clearly heard Hermione's voice and turned to look in her direction. But before they could even wave, the car, with its own mind, zoomed back into the clouds, leaving only their terrified shouts echoing in the air.
"Ivan, we have to find a way to save them!" Hermione said worriedly, then frowned and continued, "Maybe we can get Harry and Ron to slow down the car and match the speed of the train, and then find a way to get them over here."
"That's too risky; they can't control that car", Ivan shook his head, indicating his helplessness at the two boys' reckless behavior.
Missing the train wasn't a big deal. Harry and Ron could have simply gone home or returned to the Leaky Cauldron to seek help and explain the situation. Even with Dobby causing trouble and making it difficult to send letters, there were always ways to contact Dumbledore. There was no need to fly a car to school.
This was purely suicidal behavior.
Ivan thought this, then realized he might be setting the bar too high for them. After all, Harry and Ron were just twelve-year-old kids. In a moment of panic, they could do anything.
Especially since they were naturally a bit reckless.
Suddenly, Ivan felt the diary in his hand start to vibrate violently. He looked at it curiously, and the black ink on the pages was messy, reflecting the owner's agitated state of mind.
"Was that kid sitting in the car the great Savior Harry Potter you mentioned?"
Ivan could clearly sense the shock in Tom's heart from the ink. He smirked inwardly and wrote formally in the diary.
"The Savior's entrance is always so impressive, isn't it, Tom?"
Tom fell silent, thinking about why his main soul had lost to such a dim-witted child. This shouldn't be possible, right?
Hermione kept glancing out the window, her worry evident, and she didn't even notice Ivan's little action. Unfortunately, the car had already flown above the clouds and was out of sight.
The train slowly pulled into the station. As soon as it stopped, Hermione was eager to inform the professors at the school, fearing that something might go wrong with the car Harry and Ron were driving.
However, when she got there, Hermione was taken aback. Second-year students didn't need to cross the lake; they followed the older students in carriages to the castle. In the crowded crowd, Hagrid was already leading the first-year students onto the small boats that were floating on the lake under the dim light.
Hermione didn't think she could chase after the boats to tell Hagrid that Harry and Ron were flying a car to school. Without being able to seek Hagrid's help, Hermione had no choice but to follow the crowd to the platform, and Ivan did the same.
Ivan turned his head, occasionally glancing at the small boat Hagrid was sitting in, worried that the boat might not withstand Hagrid's massive weight and sink into the lake halfway through.
The two of them were pushed along by the crowd, out of the station, and down a road. Soon, they found themselves on a street where over a hundred black-gray carriages were parked. Unlike ordinary carriages, these had no horses pulling them, just standing there motionless.
"Will this carriage really move? How do we make it move?" Hermione sat down in one of the carriages, curiously touching the edge. The railing was icy cold, but the carriage beneath her remained still, making her anxious.
"It will move once it's full", Ivan replied, his gaze fixed on the front of the carriage, his expression rather odd.
Ivan realized he couldn't see the Thestrals, even though he had died once and had killed Quirrell. Logically, he should have been able to see them.
But on second thought, Ivan remembered that Harry in the original timeline was the same. Harry had witnessed his parents' deaths as a baby and had destroyed Quirrell in his first year, yet he didn't see the Thestrals until Cedric's death.
Clearly, seeing Thestrals wasn't that simple; perhaps it required a deeper understanding of death.
Hearing Ivan's words, Hermione reluctantly set aside her worry for Harry and Ron, waiting for the carriage to fill up.
However, Ivan's focused gaze toward the front of the carriage piqued Hermione's curiosity.
"Hey, Ivan, what are you looking at? Is there something there?"
"Thestrals", Ivan replied absentmindedly, then, seeing Hermione's surprised expression, he continued.
"I heard the older students say that the school carriages are pulled by creatures called Thestrals."
Hermione gazed in the direction Ivan indicated but saw nothing.
Just as Hermione was about to ask, someone else spoke up.
"You mean something is pulling the carriage? I heard these carriages move on their own. And what are Thestrals?"
Ivan turned to see two young Gryffindor girls, both second-year students. One of them had a slightly darker complexion, suggesting she was not of European descent.
"Parvati? Lavender?" Hermione said, surprised.
Ivan, hearing these names, paused for a moment before recalling that they were Hermione's roommates.
"Hermione, can we get in? I don't know anyone on the other carriages", Lavender Brown said.
Parvati Patil added, "We won't be a bother, will we?"
They giggled, their laughter ringing like silver bells in the air.
"What are you two talking about?" Hermione glared at them, then glanced worriedly at Ivan.
Seeing that Ivan's expression didn't change and that he simply nodded, Hermione breathed a sigh of relief but suddenly felt a sense of loss.
