Chapter 168: Hidden Realm
Chapter 168: Hidden Realm
The two people in the security room stared at the screen, where a girl on a Flame Listener hovered in mid-air, speechless.
If they hadn't been sure that this was a real security camera feed from their store, they would have thought they were watching an edited Familiar Battle scene.
Who in the real world had ever seen an Intermediate Beast take down two High-Class Beast Companions in a row?
And those two High-Class Beast Companions were clearly no ordinary creatures. Not only were they Ghost-type Companion Beasts, but they also actively attacked humans!
The most unbelievable part was that Flame Listener...
"Did you see that?" The capped man finally spoke up after a while.
"I saw it", the young man murmured.
"Did you see the same thing I did?" The capped man couldn't help but ask, wanting to make sure his eyes weren't deceiving him.
"Probably the same", the young man replied.
"So, the Flame Listener has not only Fire-type but also Psychic-type abilities?" The capped man said, dazed.
"Seems like it", the young man nodded.
The capped man's mind went blank.
Psychic-type, that was Psychic-type!
If it were just a simple Psychic Pet, it wouldn't have been such a shock, but this was the latest Evolution form of the Fire Pet Beast Fangflare!
Not only did it have powerful Fire-type attacks, but it also possessed the high-class Psychic-type. The combination of these two attributes in a familiar was rare, and each one was worth a fortune.
Add to that its stunning appearance and the ability to fly with a rider, and which Beastmaster wouldn't want one?
Most importantly, the market price for a Fangflare was only 100,000 Union Coins!
"I remember the news didn't mention that the Flame Listener has Psychic-type abilities, right?" The capped man turned to the young man and asked.
The young man stared at the security camera feed, deep in thought, and didn't answer immediately.
The capped man frowned, about to say something, when his walkie-talkie crackled to life with a staticky voice: "Hello, can you hear me? Can you hear me?"
The capped man's face lit up, and he quickly brought the walkie-talkie to his mouth: "I can hear you! I can hear you!"
The voice on the other end paused, then burst into joy: "Great, are you guys okay? The police just arrived at our store and are heading inside."
...
Hanggang City.
Public Security Bureau.
This was Qiao Sang's fourth time at the Public Security Bureau.
Although one of those times was in Qitang Town, most people might never set foot in a Public Security Bureau in their entire lives. Qiao Sang had been there four times in just a few months, which was quite something.
Fang Sisi was a first-timer, and she held Cotton Worm, looking a bit uneasy.
A police officer brought over two cups of tea and smiled, saying, "Qiao Sang, I didn't expect to see you again so soon. This is your friend, right? Beauty attracts beauty, indeed."
Fang Sisi immediately straightened her back and smoothed her hair behind her ear.
A few staff members from the store also accompanied them to the Police Station to give statements.
Qiao Sang was already somewhat well-known at the Hanggang City Public Security Bureau, having become a familiar face. Most of the officers on duty recognized her.
Her first visit was to claim a reward for catching a thief on a bus.
Not many people remembered that visit, mainly because she was young and attractive, and she had a Fangflare with her, which made her memorable.
The second time was to claim a massive reward of five million Union Coins. That visit even got the attention of the Public Security Bureau chief and the media, so it was hard to forget.
This was the third time Qiao Sang had come to the police station, and it was because he had been involved in the most troublesome incident the city government was currently dealing with. By directly helping to resolve the top two most problematic targets, he saved countless man-hours and resources, and even spared the police officers from having to work overtime at night.
As a result, Qiao Sang received a warm welcome from everyone at the police station.
Some even thought he was there as a guest rather than to give a statement.
"Qiao Sang, when does your school start?"
"Does this tea taste good? You're young, so you probably don't like tea. I'll get you a drink instead."
"Are you going home after you finish your statement? I'm off duty soon and can give you a ride."
"Why do you look better every time I see you?"
"Qiao Sang, your hair looks a bit strange."
"..."
Every time a police officer passed by, they would stop to chat with Qiao Sang for a few moments.
This allowed Qiao Sang to learn a lot about the Dreamless Tot and the Three-Eyed Ghost Cicada.
It turned out that recently, a Rift had appeared near the edge of Hanggang City, and 18 wild beast companions had emerged from it.
The Hidden Realm was a dimensional space different from the real world, somewhat similar to a Dimensional Space.
It contained a variety of bizarre and fantastical worlds, inhabited primarily by various attributes of wild supernatural creatures.
Throughout human history, the exploration of the Hidden Realm has never ceased since its discovery.
Although the Hidden Realm is dangerous, it is rich in resources, including rare familiars. Many Beastmasters choose to enter it to enhance their strength.
The Hidden Realm is generally divided into two categories.
The first category consists of Hidden Realms that have been fully explored by humans. Their terrains and the types of wild supernatural creatures are well-known.
These Hidden Realms are classified into five levels by the Alliance based on their danger, from D to S.
Their entrances are stable, and for a fee, detailed maps and guides are available, making them the choice of most Beastmasters.
The second category consists of Hidden Realms that have not been fully explored, which are filled with uncertainties and high risks, leading to fewer Beastmasters willing to enter them.
It is well-known that most entrances to the Hidden Realm remain open at fixed times and locations.
However, some entrances appear unexpectedly in different places, but they usually don't last long.
These are referred to as Hidden Realm Rifts in textbooks.
In the past, humans feared the invasion and harassment by wild supernatural creatures, but with the development of the Beast Trainer Society, such concerns have disappeared.
If not for the fact that the creatures that emerged from this Hidden Realm Rift were Ghost-type Companion Beasts, the government would have captured them within a day.
"You were just unlucky, entering the Chamber of Lost Town. If you had entered another Chamber, you probably wouldn't have encountered the Dreamless Tot and the Three-Eyed Ghost Cicada", a female police officer with her hair tied up said with a smile.
Qiao Sang was taken aback. "Why?"
"The Dreamless Tot and the Three-Eyed Ghost Cicada had just emerged from the Rift and were wandering around when they overheard someone talking about this Chamber. They heard that if they could make it through Lost Town, they could meet the legendary Mihiram the Enigmatic Beast and receive a wish", the policewoman explained with a smile.
"The Dreamless Tot was planning to follow the Flame Listener through the Chamber, but when you came in and led the Flame Listener out, it appeared to block your path."
Qiao Sang: "..."
