Chapter 167: Rescue
Chapter 167: Rescue
Cecile's eyes kept twitching as she struggled to resist Felix's intrusion into her memories. Cecil, standing nearby, hesitated, wand in hand, unsure whether to attack.
Felix's previous display had been too extreme, and he had no confidence in his actions.
But Felix had already obtained what he wanted. He spoke softly, "Ilvermorny... Ilvermorny students are like this. But why? What law has caused such resentment?"
Cecile's face was pale, and she tightly shut her mouth.
But Felix's expression showed understanding. "Yes, Rappaport's Law... But I remember, that law was repealed. Is that what you just mentioned?"
During the conflict, Celeste had angrily shouted at the attackers, "It was repealed in 1965!" In response, she received a torrent of angry insults and was called a "liar." This must be the crux of the issue.
The wizard named Cecil rubbed his chin dejectedly. "Only a small part of it was repealed."
Felix's gaze turned to Cecil, who turned his head away, whispering, "The remaining provisions were merged into other laws, especially those concerning interactions with Muggles. The restrictions are still strict—Muggle-born Wizards and first-generation Halfbloods must register their relationships and undergo regular inspections by specialized personnel from the Magical Congress. We also have dedicated memory-erasure teams ready to eliminate 'excess and dangerous' memories."
Celeste whispered, "To prevent the exposure of the magical world."
"Are there many such students?" Felix asked Cecil.
"It depends on how you look at it. The majority are various types of Halfbloods. But which side do you think they would lean towards?"
"So, you are fighting a losing battle?"
The wizard closed his eyes in pain.
Felix said nothing more. This was not his concern, but his mood suddenly turned irritable.
As his gaze swept over the ruins, his expression changed. His wand moved swiftly, and large chunks of brick, dust, and broken furniture floated into the air. The others watched him, confused.
At the edge of the rubble, a black-robed wizard's figure emerged, blood pooling on the ground from his chest.
"Who is this?" Celeste screamed in terror, muttering, "Please don't be a student, please don't be a student..."
The young Auror who had been taking care of Maxwell looked dazed. This... This seemed to be the magic he used?
Felix strode forward, crouching down. He lifted the black mask to reveal a young witch with a pale face.
The others gathered around, their hearts heavy. Her face was devoid of color, her chest still, and the blood mixed with the dirt made her look like a freshly unearthed corpse.
"Did I... Did I kill someone? A student?" the young Auror mumbled.
"It's over, everything's over!" Celeste collapsed to the ground.
The Muggle research experts wore solemn expressions, and one of them removed his Iris Hat.
Felix said nothing, carefully examining the young witch. He gently placed his fingers on the wound, and a black mist began to spread, quickly staining his index finger.
"Is this a curse-related dark magic?" Felix asked the young Auror.
"Y-Yes."
Felix nodded and took out various bottles and vials from his ring.
"Can she be saved?" the young Auror asked hopefully, looking at Felix as if he were a devout believer: "Can you bring her back to life?"
Everyone present looked at Felix with anticipation, hoping for a positive answer. At this moment, they all hoped for a miracle.
"No, I can't", Felix said cruelly, but then he quickly added, "But she isn't dead yet."
He selected a small black bottle and dripped the potion onto the witch's chest. The wound sizzled, and wisps of black mist rose into the air.
Subsequently, Felix took out a small white bottle and dripped the clear liquid onto the wound, which rapidly healed.
“S-She’s alive?” Celeste stammered.
Felix waited quietly, and after about half a minute, the witch’s chest rose and fell once. He let out a long sigh of relief.
“You did it! You did it! From now on, you’re the person I admire the most!” The young Auror was so excited that his words tumbled out incoherently.
Felix smiled, his voice full of emotion. “You should thank my friend, a Potion Master, who helped a great deal. Of course, I also have to thank myself for accompanying him on those adventures…”
The potion in the black vial was primarily made from Blackroot, which Felix and Damocles Belby had discovered during their expedition in the Forbidden Forest.
At the time, Belby had told him that a potion made from Blackroot was highly effective in healing dark magic injuries. Upon returning, Felix had given Belby a portion of the material, and about half a month later, Belby had returned the favor with a small vial of the potion.
...
“Sir, your finger?” the young Auror said.
“Right, I almost forgot about this.” Felix stared at his blackened index finger, gently pinching it, and a wisp of black mist was extinguished.
“Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!”
Several figures appeared, and reinforcements from the French Ministry of Magic had arrived.
“Mr. Moore.” Felix greeted one of them.
“Mr. Heap? It’s good to see you. Hang on, I need to attend to some official business first, and we can catch up later,” the middle-aged man with golden curls said.
He turned to order his subordinates, “Inform the Healing and Memory teams to check the nearby Muggles. And where’s Colbert? Have him come see me!”
Maxwell, who had just woken up, was dragged over to explain and was angrily berating Celeste. His normally smooth French was now punctuated with harsh tones and a variety of national curses.
Celeste stood to the side, her face dark.
After a full ten minutes, the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Galsworthy Moore, strode over. He warmly grasped Felix’s hands, “Thank you so much for everything, Felix! Our young men can indeed be a bit impulsive, but it’s not entirely their fault,” he glanced sideways at the embarrassed Celeste and Cecil, “If certain individuals hadn’t gone overboard, we would have been kept in the dark from start to finish.”
“I will report this matter in full to the International Confederation of Wizards. I’m sure Dumbledore won’t tolerate such behavior.”
“We were just enforcing the law against criminals, Mr. Moore,” Celeste took a deep breath and explained.
Moore, with his ginger eyes wide, loudly demanded, “You call students who are still in school criminals?”
Celeste pursed her lips and said stiffly, “Age and the law are two different things, and you should understand that, Head Moore!”
“Did they do anything to warrant such drastic measures? Don’t try to deceive me; I know more than you think! Secret meetings, recruiting members, distributing flyers, running an underground newspaper, and writing anonymous letters… You may have thrown those letters in the trash without even reading them, which is why we have this situation now, isn’t it?”
Felix was uninterested in their argument and bid them farewell. Moore happily agreed and scheduled a meeting for later.
The next moment, he appeared on the seventh floor of the hotel.
“Professor Burbage?” he called out in the corridor.
After a moment, a door opened, and Burbage poked his head out. Seeing Felix, he smiled, “Thank heavens, you’re back.”
“The attack is over,” Felix said gently.
