Chapter 167: Look! They're Here Now, Aren't They?
Chapter 167: Look! They’re Here Now, Aren’t They?
In front of a Dark Magic Shop in Knockturn Alley, Ivan had been waiting for a long time with his luggage, but Aisia still hadn’t come out. Finally, he shouted.
"Mom, hurry up! There’s not much time left before the train leaves. We need to leave some time for the Knight Bus."
Just as Ivan was hesitating whether to go ahead, Aisia finally came out, having changed her clothes.
After waving her wand to close the shop door, Aisia pinched Ivan’s cheek and said,
"What’s the rush? We don’t have to take the Knight Bus, do we?"
But how are we going to get there?
Before Ivan could finish his thought, Aisia grabbed his arm, and the next moment, they were transported through space.
When Ivan came to his senses, he found himself in a corner of a street not far from King's Cross Station.
"See? Now we have plenty of time", Aisia said, ruffling Ivan’s hair with a smile.
"That was too dangerous. What if the Muggles saw us?" Ivan said, sounding quite helpless.
While adult wizards don’t have the same restrictions on using magic outside of school as young wizards do, if they are seen by a large number of Muggles, it could expose the wizarding world, leading to penalties from the Ministry of Magic.
That’s why Douglas only dared to Apparate to a nearby secluded alley when taking Ivan to the Ministry. Aisia, on the other hand, was much bolder.
"But no one saw us, did they?" Aisia said nonchalantly, but then she frowned and turned to look behind her.
At the corner of the street, a middle-aged man in a suit was standing there, a piece of bread still in his mouth. He was clearly stunned by the sudden appearance of the two of them and was slow to react.
When he saw Aisia and Ivan looking at him, the man’s face turned pale with fear. The bread fell from his mouth, and he let out a sharp scream before turning and running away.
But a beam of magical light was faster than he was.
"Obliviate!"
With Aisia’s command, the man fell to the ground.
"Done. Let’s go!" Aisia put away her wand and started walking towards King's Cross Station before the scream attracted more Muggles.
Ivan turned to look. The unfortunate Muggle had already gotten back up, but he looked dazed, as if he had forgotten why he was there.
Ivan silently mourned for him, hoping the man wouldn’t be late for whatever he was supposed to do today.
As they entered the platform, Aisia began a long list of instructions, nagging about safety at school, eating regularly, and especially remembering to write letters home often.
"Okay, okay, I got it, Mom!" Ivan said, cutting her off before her words started to feel like a broken record.
Then, Ivan hesitated for a moment and continued,
"By the way, Mom, the Werewolf Wizards in the East Ruins promised to help gather some information from Knockturn Alley. If you run into any trouble, you can ask them for help."
Ivan hadn’t hidden his dealings with the werewolves from Aisia. He had already told her most of it.
After all, Douglas was aware of the situation.
To prevent this guy from using Ivan’s name to manipulate the Werewolf Wizards and cause trouble in Knockturn Alley, Ivan had to involve Aisia to balance things out.
Before leaving, Ivan had specifically warned Fenrir and Walker to either write to him or contact Aisia if they found out anything.
"Alright! I'll keep an eye on them for you." Aisia smiled and nodded.
Ivan then bid farewell to Aisia, dragging his luggage and rushing into Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, smoothly entering the wizarding station.
After Ivan left, Aisia sighed, realizing she was increasingly unable to understand her child’s thoughts.
Hesitantly, Aisia recalled the conversation she had with Douglas a few days ago. She was initially reluctant to believe it, even suspecting that Douglas might have been exaggerating.
But Ivan's concern for the group of Werewolf Wizards made Aisia hesitate again.
"Fine, I'll check the identities of these Werewolf Wizards first. If they are as innocent as described..." Aisia muttered to herself.
Inside the wizarding station, Ivan, having passed through the platform, turned to glance at the passage behind him.
He wondered if Dobby would still block the passage and keep Harry and Ron outside after he had taken the soul-bound diary.
As he thought, Ivan placed his luggage on the train's cargo hold and then boarded, finding a relatively secluded empty compartment to sit in.
Choo-choo
Before long, the red train slowly started moving, with steam billowing out of the chimney, gathering into clouds and then dispersing with the wind.
With nothing to do, Ivan opened the soul-bound diary and continued his studies, hoping to extract information about bloodline fusion from Tom.
Ivan considered using Fiendfyre to threaten Tom into compliance, but ultimately discarded the idea.
This would not only shatter the hard-earned relationship he had built with Tom, losing a useful Learning Accelerator, but the Dark Lord was not easily intimidated.
Besides, Tom had always been a master of sweet talk, rarely speaking the truth. Information about bloodline origins was different from regular studies; mistakes would result in a deduction of House Points to confirm its authenticity.
Tom could easily provide half-truths, advancing the task and wasting Ivan’s time.
Ivan racked his brain, engaging in a battle of wits with Tom. Before long, the compartment door was pushed open.
"Ivan, why are you here alone? Where are Harry and Ron?" Hermione quickly walked in, sat down opposite him, and asked with curiosity.
"I don't know, they might not have boarded yet?" Ivan replied, subtly lowering the diary to avoid Hermione's notice.
"What?" Hermione was surprised and became a bit panicked. If Harry and Ron missed the train, how would they get to school?
"Don't worry, I'm sure they'll find a way", Ivan reassured her, then pointed out the window as if he had seen something.
"Look! They're coming now."
Hermione turned to look, then froze.
In the distance, high in the sky, a green Muggle car was speeding through the clouds, flickering in and out of sight.
A moment later, something must have gone wrong, and the car suddenly plummeted from the sky, spinning in mid-air as it hurtled toward the Hogwarts Express.
