Chapter 166: Someone's Trying to Kidnap Baldy?!
Chapter 166: Someone's Trying to Kidnap Baldy?!
In Z City, inside Night City's home...
Ever since Genos, the "Housewife," moved in, Night City and Saitama have truly been liberated from household chores.
Don't get the wrong idea; when we say liberated, we mean they genuinely don't have to lift a finger around the house.
As a cyborg, Genos downloaded and stored various resources, including "The Ultimate Housewife," "Life Encyclopedia," and "How to Be a Full-Time Housewife," on his computer the day he moved in.
What's that? You ask if there were any weird books mixed in there?
No, no, no. Genos believed that even in a book about being a full-time housewife, there were still combat techniques worth learning.
Since Genos' arrival, the already laid-back Night City and Saitama have become even more slacker-ish.
There was no way they were going to work part-time, especially after a significant windfall. Now, with a full-time nanny, the two, who were already slackers, have fully embraced a lazy lifestyle.
During this period, Genos often jotted down the teachers' every move in his notebook during his free time. However, he soon discovered that the two teachers barely engaged in daily training.
Genos did notice something else, though; both Saitama Sensei and Night City Sensei were avid gamers.
Whenever they had free time, they would engage in intense gaming sessions, their skills evenly matched (or so they thought).
Initially, Genos didn't think much of it, but then he recalled Night City Sensei mentioning that his secret to becoming stronger was through cheating. Moreover, considering Saitama Sensei and Night City Sensei's love for fighting games, Genos wondered if they could learn some combat techniques from these games!
With this realization, Genos' expression turned serious. He quickly retrieved his notebook from his apron's pocket, ready to observe and take notes on their techniques.
In the past, they couldn't afford high-end gaming consoles, but now, with the means, Night City felt that Baldy's gaming skills had improved significantly.
Before, Baldy could only manage a draw against Night City with his cheap moves, but recently, Night City was shocked to find that Baldy could match him even without resorting to underhanded tactics.
This match was a clear example; Baldy was clearly in the lead, and if he won this final round, he would secure a two-out-of-three victory.
This match had stakes; the loser would treat the other to a meal! As Night City's character was backed into a corner, he hesitated, unsure if he should resort to his usual cheap tactics. Suddenly, their ceiling shattered, and a mantid monster crashed through from above, followed by Frog Man and Playful Slug.
Z City is known for its frequent monster appearances, so this wasn't an unusual occurrence. However, this mantid monster seemed to have a purpose.
Night City's home wasn't on the top floor, so the monster must have caused destruction across multiple floors above them.
This wasn't a big deal, as the mantid monster that destroyed their ceiling and its companions, Frog Man and Playful Slug, were merely Tiger-Rank monsters.
Not only Night City and Saitama but even Genos standing nearby didn't consider them a threat.
Unfortunately, when the Mercury Mantid fell through the ceiling, it smashed their gaming monitor. This caused the screen to go black, nullifying Baldy's impending victory.
"We are from Evolution House..."
After Mercury Mantid destroyed the ceiling, he was completely unaware of the severity of his actions. Just as he was about to announce his name, a terrifying sword flash and a crushing fist descended upon him!
"You bastard! Do you have any idea how much that game monitor costs?"
And if you're going to show up and die, why not use the front door? You had to show off by breaking through my ceiling to make a flashy entrance. You're just an extra!"
The cost of repairing the ceiling and replacing the damaged game monitor was a significant expense for Yecheng, who was not exactly rolling in wealth at the moment.
Saitama, too, felt an unusual surge of anger, even though the damaged ceiling wasn't his. The easy victory he had within his grasp was ruined by the opponent!
Not only was it a missed victory, but it was also a lost opportunity for a free feast!
The upper-level Tiger Rank Mercury Mantid didn't even get to finish his opening line before his entire body was split in half by Yecheng.
At this point, the opponent was already dead beyond dead, but Saitama's fist, unleashed without restraint, reduced the already bisected body into an even more complete state of shattering.
Saitama's punch, fueled by anger, was not held back, and not only turned Mercury Mantid into dust but also sent Frog Man and Playful Slug, who were nearby, crashing through the adjacent wall due to the impact. They landed on the road outside, standing upright like two upside-down frogs.
"You damn baldy, do you want to tear down our entire house?!"
Seeing the gaping hole in the wall created by Saitama's punch, Yecheng's expression darkened as he rushed towards the opponent and grabbed his neck.
The damage caused by Saitama's punch was far more severe than the ceiling destruction by Mercury Mantid.
As Yecheng considered the potential costs of house repairs, his forehead creased with prominent veins.
"It's not my fault! These monstrosities suddenly appeared...
Anyway, I'm not paying any compensation. If you're still not satisfied, I'll give you my house as compensation!"
Seeing the entire wall with the window gone, Baldhead, aware of his wrongdoing, turned his head away, unable to face Yecheng's gaze.
"Who would want your crappy house? The living room isn't even as luxurious as my toilet. How is that fair compensation?!"
As Yecheng and Saitama seemed about to start a physical altercation, Genos, standing nearby, quickly stepped forward to mediate: "Teachers, the issue with the monstrosities hasn't been resolved yet.
Moreover, that mantid monstrosity mentioned something about being from Evolution House, which suggests they have an organization.
In that case, wouldn't it be possible to seek compensation from them for Yecheng's house repairs and Saitama's interrupted gaming session?"
It must be said that although Genos hadn't lived there for long, he had a good grasp of Yecheng and Saitama's personalities.
Upon hearing Genos's words, Yecheng and Saitama, who had been arguing, suddenly had a realization. They rushed outside to check on Frog Man and Playful Slug, who had been knocked away by Saitama earlier, to see if they were still alive.
