Chapter 1652: A War Without Victors (Part 102)
Chapter 1652: A War Without Victors (Part 102)
"Is that it?"
Dean was disappointed when he heard that the Death Eaters had retreated. He had thought that the Ministry of Magic would be able to take out more of Voldemort's remnants this time, but he never expected the enemy to be so cautious.
"I really don't understand what those Death Eaters are trying to do. They're just here to mess around," Simon said, equally frustrated.
"What are they trying to do?" Neville looked around and lowered his voice. "Don't you feel that the atmosphere of the wedding has changed?"
"It's really disgusting, but I didn't expect them to get away in the end," Ernie sympathized with Harry's plight. The beautiful wedding had been ruined by the Death Eaters.
"However, didn't the Aurors lying in wait outside catch any of them?" Justin couldn't help but doubt the true abilities of the Aurors.
"What are you thinking? Do you expect the Aurors to be able to catch those Death Eaters?" A slightly unfamiliar voice came from the side.
"Indeed, we can't rely on them. They can't even do a proper job when they're given a warning," another speaker, Nelson Tobin, said, seeming to have expected this outcome.
"It's only Albert who is considerate. I heard he used Voldemort's bounty to build Avalon to prevent members of the Defense Association from being retaliated against by Death Eaters. He probably anticipated that the Ministry of Magic wouldn't be able to wipe out Voldemort's remnants," Hannah agreed with Albert's "foresight". Her mother was killed by Death Eaters in retaliation.
"Can I move in now?"
Justin, who had just graduated from Hogwarts, needed a place to stay in the wizarding world. This was the first problem that most Muggle-born wizards had to face after graduating from school.
Hannah felt the possibility was low, but still tried to comfort him, "I don't know, let me ask for you later."
Compared to the frightened wizards, the "heroes" who had participated in the Battle of Hogwarts were indeed much calmer when facing the Death Eaters' attack, and even regretted not being able to fight them. This made the wizards who were "shocked" by the Dark Mark suspect their life choices.
Harry and Ginny's wedding continued, but after the disruption by the Death Eaters, the festive atmosphere was gone, and many guests were no longer in the mood to celebrate. This forced smile on Harry's face.
"Cheer up, Harry. It's your wedding day today," George noticed Harry's gloom beneath his smile and patted him on the shoulder gently. "Don't mind those cowards. We'll catch them another day and finish them off."
"Hearing you say that, it feels like you're squishing a mouse underfoot," Fred also smiled as he put his hand on Harry's shoulder.
"Come on, let's call Ginny and go set off some fireworks outside. Albert was just about to set them off when those Death Eaters interrupted," George suggested.
"I heard they're discussing this matter," Lee Jordan popped up from somewhere.
"Don't expect them to come up with anything useful," George gave Ginny a look and then dragged Harry out.
In fact, George was right; the Aurors couldn't come up with anything useful.
"So, they barely appeared for a short while before running off. Obviously, they knew we were ambushing them,"
Dexter was frustrated as it was his squad lying in wait outside, yet they still let the Death Eaters escape.
"Similar things have happened more than once," Kingsley interrupted Dexter's incoherent speech. "But those guys are indeed becoming more cautious."
"If they don't want to die, it's natural for them to be more careful. When the Ministry of Magic was hunting us down back then, it was pretty much the same situation,"
"Don't forget, Voldemort is already dead. How stupid do you think his remnants are to come directly to their deaths?" Moody couldn't understand what the Aurors in front of him were thinking. Did they think Death Eaters were supposed to be idiots?
"Even if you guys didn't show up, they still wouldn't have succeeded."
The Aurors turned to the young man next to Kingsley, understanding the implication of Moody's words, and couldn't deny it in their hearts. Albert, who had killed Voldemort, was almost on par with Dumbledore in their minds.
Back then, Dumbledore was able to crush Voldemort and the Death Eaters, forcing them to flee. Albert, who had killed Voldemort, could naturally do the same, and even better.
Moreover, the "heroes" who had participated in the Battle of Hogwarts were present, as well as the professors from Hogwarts. Even if the Death Eaters had attacked the wedding, they wouldn't have caused much of a stir.
"What do you think?"
"Similar things will probably happen a lot in the future. The Death Eaters have always been a sneaky bunch," Albert reminded them.
"Can we find them?" Kingsley looked at Albert inquiringly.
"Divination is never all-powerful," Albert shook his head. "If we want to get rid of them, we must be fully determined."
Kingsley could understand Albert's hint, and his expression became complicated.
In the end, thoroughly eliminating Voldemort's remnants wasn't a big problem. The real difficulty lay in dealing with the aftermath.
At this moment, a loud explosion suddenly came from outside the tent, as if something had exploded, startling the Aurors, who drew their wands and became alert.
"They're setting off fireworks,"
Albert stood up and walked outside, obviously not interested in continuing this boring meeting.
"Alright, everyone has worked hard tonight," Kingsley clapped his hands. "I think those cowards won't be back, so let's all go and attend the wedding to relax. I'm sure that with you here, the other wizards won't be too nervous."
The Aurors looked at each other and felt that Kingsley made sense. The Death Eaters wouldn't be foolish enough to walk into their trap.
"Is it over?" Izabel appeared silently by Albert's side.
"It's over."
Albert looked up at the two phoenixes flying together in the night sky and sighed softly, "It's really nostalgic!"
"They're not as lucky as us," Izabel looked at the young couple standing together and gazing at the sky. "If no one had interrupted, it would have been a beautiful memory."
"For Harry and Ginny, this wedding banquet is secondary. What's important is that they've become husband and wife," Albert saw clearly that what they wanted most was the recognition of their relationship.
Hermione, who had just retracted her gaze from the night sky, stared blankly at Albert and Izabel standing not far away, and murmured, "It's really enviable."
Ever since she became Albert's lover, Hermione knew that she had no chance.
However, if Hermione had to choose again, she would most likely still choose to be Albert's lover instead of just a familiar friend.
