Chapter 1650: A War Without Victors (One Hundred)
Chapter 1650: A War Without Victors (One Hundred)
However, that didn't seem to concern her much.
Especially after sensing the peculiar atmosphere around her, Penelope chose to remain silent.
The relationship between Fred and Angelina was their own business, and it wasn't easy for outsiders to get involved.
So, the topic ended there.
Everyone seemed to want to dispel the awkward atmosphere that had just occurred, and they all started discussing Harry and Ginny's wedding unintentionally.
They noticed that most of the guests were from the Weasley family, and the only "relative" left on Harry's side was Sirius.
As for Uncle Vernon and his family, despite Harry sending them an invitation, there was no response, as expected.
Fortunately, the companions who had fought alongside Harry against Voldemort came to offer their blessings to the former savior of the wizarding world.
The large tent was now clearly divided.
However, the most surprising thing was probably Kingsley's action. He set aside his lofty status as the Minister of Magic and attended Harry's wedding as a former companion, indirectly regaining some favor with everyone.
Weddings in Europe usually didn't officially start until the afternoon, as Katrina had said. Waiting was a rather boring and lengthy process, and everyone could only sit in their designated seats, passing the time with familiar acquaintances nearby.
However, the biggest surprise for the guests was probably the sweets served before the wedding banquet to tide them over. These carefully crafted treats, made by the house-elves of Hogwarts, received unanimous praise from all the guests, making the wait a little less tedious.
Until...
Mr. Weasley, dressed in a new deep green robe, led Ginny by the hand and walked into the large tent through a specially reserved path, signaling the official start of the wedding ceremony. The bride's entrance immediately captured the attention of all the guests.
However, there were still some discordant whispers, just as everyone had expected. Some people, as anticipated, commented on the newlywed couple's age.
In the eyes of some, Ginny was too young to be married, having just turned eighteen a few days ago, not to mention the fact that she was already carrying Harry's child.
Even though it had been explained on the radio beforehand, so what? Gossip among relatives was inevitable.
This displeased Sirius greatly, and he wanted to wave his wand and make them leave immediately.
Today was Harry's wedding day. Even if they couldn't offer their blessings to the newlyweds, they shouldn't be whispering such things.
Were they here to deliberately cause trouble at the wedding?
Fortunately, Sirius's nerves weren't tested further, as the wizard presiding over the wedding had already begun the customary recitation.
Albert found it rather boring, as he knew it was just a formality. Only Mrs. Weasley, sitting below, was sentimental and quietly crying into her lace handkerchief.
Albert's gaze fell on Ginny's bridesmaid.
As expected, it was Hermione! This Miss Know-It-All looked quite different from usual. It was evident that she had put in a lot of effort to dress up for her role as Ginny's bridesmaid, completely overturning many people's fixed impression of her. The lady in the light purple dress naturally caught everyone's attention.
Fortunately, Ginny, who was also carefully dressed up, was equally beautiful and charming, ensuring that the bride didn't lose her limelight to the bridesmaid.
"It seems that Miss Granger is quite popular as well!" Isabelle remarked with interest as she watched Hermione by Ginny's side.
She also noticed that Harry's best man, Ron Weasley, had been focusing his attention on Hermione ever since the bride entered.
"After all, people are visual creatures," Albert naturally noticed Ron's loss of composure, but he remained calm and even sympathized with Ron, who was pining after Hermione. He knew that since Hermione had pledged herself to him, Ron had no chance.
"That's not a good thing."
Isabelle pursed her lips, reminding them of the situation between the two.
"I know," Albert replied.
He believed Hermione could handle it.
"It feels a bit similar to our wedding ceremony," Isabelle remarked as she watched the young couple embrace on stage, and she joined the guests in applauding.
"Sirius asked me for the wedding procedure some time ago. He probably thought Harry's wedding shouldn't be too shabby," Albert said softly, "For this, he even convinced Professor McGonagall to let the Hogwarts house-elves help out, so Harry's wedding procedure is quite similar to ours."
"Then send me a copy later," Cedric's voice came from the side.
Albert felt that Cedric might not need it.
For the safety of everyone, Albert's wedding ceremony was actually much shorter than the British one, probably ending around seven or eight in the evening.
However, the food at the wedding banquet was indeed more delicious and even amazed many people. At least, many of the Weasley family's guests were interested in the various international cuisines at the banquet, and those who had been gossiping about the couple's age temporarily fell silent.
Considering that there would be dancing later, the dining time at the banquet was much shorter than expected, leaving the guests still hungry.
Thus, under the envious gazes of countless guests, Harry and Ginny stepped into the dance floor hand in hand, accompanied by the music of the band and the enthusiastic cheers of the guests.
Watching the unrestrained dance of Fred and Angelina, Albert and Isabelle smiled at each other and walked hand in hand towards the dance floor, gracefully dancing the elegant waltz to the music.
In contrast to their elegant dance, Hermione and Ron's performance was terrible.
Hermione's mind didn't seem to be on the dance, as she looked distracted and often accidentally stepped on Ron's feet. Ron, on the other hand, seemed immersed in the dance with Hermione, barely reacting even when his feet were stepped on. It wasn't until the music ended and Hermione led him off the dance floor that he came back to his senses.
"Are you done dancing?"
"Let's take a little break!" Hermione gave Ron an apologetic look and then let go of his hand to sit at the empty table next to Percy, looking confused as she watched Percy writing in his notebook.
"What are you writing?"
"Recording some important things," Percy replied without looking up.
"Being the Minister's assistant is really tiring!" Hermione sighed softly.
"He's just putting on a show. Who comes to a wedding and still works?" Ron placed a glass of champagne in front of Hermione, scornfully watching Percy, who was busy.
The latter didn't bother to refute and simply continued writing in his notebook. After finishing his record, he carefully put away the notebook and started chatting with Hermione about Harry's wedding, without even glancing at Ron, which annoyed the latter.
