Chapter 1649: A War with No Victors (Ninety-Nine)
Chapter 1649: A War with No Victors (Ninety-Nine)
"If you're not mentally prepared, it's best not to rush into marriage. If you're not ready for the shift in mindset, you'll likely struggle with the pressures of starting a new life together. Moreover, there's a significant gap between your expectations of married life and the reality of it."
After much hesitation, Isabelle finally offered her sincere, albeit unpopular, opinion and advice. While her words might carry little weight coming from someone who married young, Isabelle was acutely aware that not everyone had the courage to face the challenges of married life at such a young age.
Although some of the girls disagreed with Isabelle, they couldn't deny the truth in her words. Some of them hadn't even mastered the basics of cooking.
However...
The girls around her turned their heads, casting curious glances at Qiu Zhang, Angelina, and the others who were considering marriage.
"So, when do you think is the best time to get married?" Angelina asked directly.
"Usually, the ideal age is around twenty-five. By then, you would have completely shed your student mentality and established yourselves in stable careers. You'll be better equipped to handle the various aspects of married life."
Isabelle saw the struggle and hesitation in Qiu Zhang's eyes and sighed inwardly.
"Of course, this is just my suggestion. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide. Take me and Albert, for example. We were secretly engaged while still students and planned to marry after Albert's graduation."
"Isn't getting married right after graduation a bit rushed?" Angelina mumbled.
"It is a bit rushed, but sometimes circumstances leave us with no choice. In our case, there were reasons why we decided to marry right after graduation. As long as you're mentally prepared, getting married at any time is fine. Look at Harry and Ginny; they were well-prepared." Isabelle glanced at the bustling tent below the terrace and offered a friendly reminder. "And you girls have an advantage that most others don't."
Despite not having participated in the Second Wizarding War, Isabelle was well-liked among the girls.
Not only was she Albert's wife, but she also had a unique charm that made many of the girls hope to learn from her and become as happy as she was.
So, when Albert returned to the tent, he could instantly tell that Isabelle was in a good mood.
"You seem worried that I won't get along with the other girls," Isabelle easily saw through Albert's concern.
"I'm just a little worried that you won't be able to adapt," Albert said softly, holding Isabelle's hand. "After all, it's been a while since you truly interacted with others."
"What about you? Still worried about the werewolf issue?" Isabelle seemed to want to change the subject.
"Hidden enemies are even more terrifying," Albert said, understanding Kingsley's anxiety.
"Kingsley is a smart man, but he's a bit..." Isabelle's gaze swept over Kingsley's position as she whispered, "If it were me, I'd take unconventional measures. When it comes to one's own interests, no one is a brainless fool."
"Kingsley isn't unwilling, he's unable. He doesn't have many choices left. If I were in his position, I'd probably do the same." Albert could empathize with Kingsley's choice of the simplest solution—asking Albert for help. It was likely that Albert himself would have made the same decision after carefully weighing the pros and cons.
Fred, who was whispering to Cedric at the next table, suddenly brought up the topic of Harry's bridal chamber, seeming to dislike the show room's style.
"You're already discussing bridal chambers? So, when are you planning to get married? Next year, or are you going to wait a bit longer?"
"Next year!" Qiu Zhang replied without hesitation.
The girls at the neighboring tables giggled.
"I was actually planning to ask you to be my best man," Cedric said, scratching the back of his head awkwardly.
"Once Avalon is built, I might have a lot of people asking me to be their best man at their weddings." Albert suddenly looked up at the newcomer. "You look like you're in a foul mood."
"Don't mention it," Fred said, sitting down next to Angelina with a gloomy expression. "Muriel is a disaster. When we get married next year, we must pretend to forget to send her an invitation."
"Who are you marrying next year?" Angelina asked, suddenly turning serious.
"You, of course!" Fred smiled and reached for Angelina's hand.
"Who wants to marry you?" Angelina rolled her eyes. "After we're done here, I plan to try out for a Quidditch team."
To be honest, Angelina didn't want to get married so soon. If possible, she wanted to pursue her dream of playing Quidditch.
"Have you found a team?" Fred raised his eyebrows slightly. "I thought you said last time that..."
"I plan to try my luck with the Holyhead Harpies. I heard their Seeker is planning to retire soon, so maybe I can get in as a substitute." Angelina interrupted.
"Okay, then we can consider getting engaged first." Fred winked at Angelina. "As for the wedding, we can wait a bit longer. There's no rush anyway..."
Before Fred could finish his sentence, George called him away.
"Fred's getting impatient," Alicia and Katie giggled.
Penelope, who had been silent until then, suddenly interjected, "If you like him, you should seize the opportunity."
Angelina raised her eyebrows slightly and looked quietly at Penelope but said nothing.
"Now that you've graduated from Hogwarts, it's hard to maintain the kind of relationship you had during school," Penelope said, speaking from experience. "After leaving Hogwarts, many things and ideas will change as you gain new experiences."
"If both of you don't make an effort to maintain the relationship, it will quickly fade, and you might not even need to break up—it could happen in just a few months."
The girls exchanged glances, all of them aware of Penelope's story with Percy Weasley. Soon after graduating from school, the once-close couple had become the most familiar of strangers.
"People are fickle, especially when they enter new environments. Perhaps it will be you who changes, or perhaps it will be Fred, but either way, the outcome won't be pleasant. So, don't look for any excuses to test your relationship, because it won't withstand the turmoil."
Penelope had a feeling that if both parties didn't cherish their relationship, they would likely follow in her footsteps.
