Chapter 1641: A War Without Victors (Ninety-One)
Chapter 1641: A War Without Victors (Ninety-One)
However, what truly surprised Albert was that everyone seemed to enjoy the red bean pies, causing him to doubt if he had been too critical of British cuisine.
Ever since he had house-elves to help with meals, Albert rarely touched British "delicacies." Perhaps he could consider writing a book about food to improve the monotonous diet of British wizards? But after recalling the wizarding cookbooks he had seen, he quickly abandoned that impractical idea.
For the majority of wizarding families, the concern was never about making delicious food but rather how to prepare something edible conveniently. This was especially true when it came to cooking with magic, which only made it more challenging. Even if Albert could complete such a culinary "masterpiece," he didn't know how much time and energy it would take to compile it.
"Now, let's discuss security for Harry and Ginny's wedding."
As Mrs. Weasley across the table signaled for Harry and Ginny to discuss wedding matters, Moody pulled out a simplified map of Avalon and beckoned Lupin and Albert to join him in planning security measures for the wedding.
Snapped back to attention by Moody's words, Albert's gaze fell on the crude map on the table.
"This is something I just had Hermione draw up. It'll do for now," Moody said, his hand hovering over a spot on the map as he prepared to explain his plan to Albert and Lupin. But before he could begin, Albert waved his wand lightly and summoned a map out of thin air.
"Let's use my map," Albert said, spreading the map of Avalon on the table. Seeing Moody and Lupin's curious looks, he added, "I can't give you this one, though."
"That thing of yours looks like..." Moody narrowed his magical eye, studying the map intently as realization dawned on him.
"The Marauder's Map?" Lupin asked, recognizing it as well. The map they had created had found new purpose in Albert's hands.
"Yes, a simplified version of the Marauder's Map, but it will suffice. It can effectively prevent ill-intentioned individuals from sneaking up on Avalon," Albert explained the map's purpose. "I've enchanted it so that if any strangers enter the map's range, it will immediately sound an alert. You can think of it as a sort of modified Sneakoscope."
"That useless Sneakoscope is nothing compared to your early warning device," Lupin said, already envisioning the map's utility.
"Are you prophesying something bad again?" Moody asked warily.
"Not exactly, but the attack on Kingsley is a bad omen," Albert replied, alluding to his heightened vigilance. "It made me realize that we must be prepared in case Avalon is suddenly ambushed."
"It's always good to be cautious. Those people dared to target Kingsley; there's nothing they won't do," Moody agreed, acknowledging that the residents of Avalon, having participated in the Second Wizarding War, could be targets of hatred.
"So, those people really intend to use werewolves during the full moon?" Mr. Weasley interjected, appearing from nowhere.
They had all been working overtime lately due to this matter.
The Ministry of Magic seemed certain that the Death Eaters would take control of werewolves and cause trouble during the next full moon.
"It sounds like something they'd do," Moody said, turning to Lupin. "When's the next full moon?"
"The eighth," Albert answered for Lupin. "It doesn't overlap with Harry's wedding."
"That's good, but if possible, we should move the wedding to before the full moon," Moody suggested to Arthur. "If those people truly plan to stir up trouble during the full moon, Harry and Ginny's wedding will likely be affected."
"I'd like that, but..." Mr. Weasley explained helplessly, "Ginny's birthday is on the eleventh."
Their family didn't want Ginny, who was still a minor, to marry Harry. There were hardly any similar precedents in British magical history, and they feared the couple would become the subject of gossip.
"After Albert strengthens the protective enchantments around Avalon, it will be difficult for dark wizards or werewolves to locate it, even if they get close," Lupin continued, sharing his thoughts. "However, if a large number of wizards gather in Avalon, the effectiveness of the protective enchantments will be significantly weakened."
Albert understood Lupin's implication—the more guests they had, the harder it would be to keep Avalon's location a secret.
"Any powerful protective enchantment can be forcibly broken," Albert reminded them. "So, we should also consider what to do if our enemies do show up. You can't just rely on protective spells to keep them out; combat will be inevitable. But we have nothing to fear. Don't forget that Harry has invited many friends who fought alongside him in the final battle, and their combat capabilities are no less impressive than those of the Aurors."
"So, I believe our focus should be on early warning," Albert continued. "It's best if we can be alerted as soon as any enemies appear, giving us enough time to react and preventing a surprise attack. That should be sufficient. After all, what we fear most is a sudden, unexpected strike."
"Exactly! We don't lack combat power, and most of the guests can protect themselves," Moody agreed, turning to Lupin. "As long as we're not ambushed, even if a bunch of dark wizards show up, we'll be fine."
Both Moody and Lupin concurred with Albert's assessment, knowing that Harry's guest list comprised comrades who had fought alongside him. Moreover, with Albert's presence, most dark wizards would likely think twice before attempting anything foolish.
Thus, from the start, Moody and Lupin weren't overly concerned about security for Harry's wedding. They had sought Albert's counsel mainly out of an abundance of caution.
With the tone set for early warning, the rest of the discussion became much easier.
In addition to the protective enchantments Albert had prepared beforehand, the group decided to cast additional protective spells over the wedding venue. This would create a double layer of protection, providing a buffer zone that would give the wedding guests ample reaction time, even if dark wizards or werewolves attacked.
