Chapter 1638: A War Without Victors (Eighty-Eight)
Chapter 1638: A War Without Victors (Eighty-Eight)
Recently, the Weasley couple had been under a lot of pressure.
For some reason, the news of their daughter Ginny's upcoming marriage to the Savior, Harry Potter, had spread within the Weasley family. As the only girl in the family for the past two generations, Ginny's wedding was of utmost importance to the entire Weasley clan.
This also meant that the fact that Ginny was pregnant at such a young age could no longer be hidden, bringing reproach upon Mr. and Mrs. Weasley from the rest of the family.
They were demanded to ensure that Ginny's wedding proceeded without any further embarrassment.
As a result, Mrs. Weasley had been preoccupied with thoughts of her daughter's wedding lately.
However, what exhausted her was her husband Arthur's recent work commitments at the Ministry of Magic, and the fact that Harry, the groom himself, had also been working overtime. This left her with no one to help share the burden, making her feel especially worn out.
Adding to her concerns was the fact that Harry, being an orphan, had only his unreliable godfather, Sirius Black, left on his family list.
While Sirius, as Harry's godfather and sole relative, was eager to help with the wedding preparations, he lacked experience in this area and was not the most dependable person. At best, he could be counted on as an extra pair of hands.
This left the ever-reliable Mrs. Weasley with the daunting task of overseeing the entire wedding arrangements for Harry and Ginny. Thankfully, she had prior experience with Bill's wedding, which helped prevent her from feeling completely overwhelmed.
"Hermione, did Sirius say to meet at Avalon?"
Having just finished a busy day's work, Mrs. Weasley had changed into her outdoor clothes and now inquired of Hermione, who was responsible for liaising with Sirius Black.
"Yes, Sirius said it's necessary to first inspect the wedding venue. If Harry's house is not yet completed, we must reconsider whether to delay the wedding or change the location altogether," Hermione relayed Sirius' message to Mrs. Weasley.
"Then let's go!"
Mrs. Weasley had never truly visited Avalon before, and she wanted to see for herself her daughter's future home and the construction progress of Avalon village, so she could finalize the wedding venue with Sirius.
If Harry's new home was not yet ready, they would have to consider Sirius' backup plan.
"Then let's depart. Grab onto my hand!"
At the doorstep of their humble abode, Hermione directly used Side-Along Apparition to take Mrs. Weasley and Ginny to Avalon.
After the disorienting tug of Apparition, Ginny steadied herself and pointed ahead to a wooden signpost. "Mom, we're here!"
"Here?"
Mrs. Weasley looked at the empty space before them and shot a querying glance at Hermione and Ginny. In front of them was nothing but a signpost bearing the name "Avalon."
"Yes, we're here," Hermione said, as if guessing Mrs. Weasley's confusion. "You know how unsafe the entire British magical world has been lately. So Albert has cast extensive protective spells around the village to ensure Avalon's safety and to fortify it in preparation for Harry and Ginny's wedding."
Mrs. Weasley nodded stiffly, then watched as Hermione pulled out an inconspicuous card from her pocket and handed it over.
"This is?"
"This is the pass to enter and exit Avalon. You can directly walk through from the side of that signpost to enter Avalon," Hermione explained, then added, "This is the only entrance."
"We really have Albert to thank."
Mrs. Weasley took the card and examined it. It seemed like an ordinary piece of cardboard, nothing special.
However, just as Hermione had said, Avalon was indeed protected by protective spells. After Mrs. Weasley followed Ginny and Hermione through a thick layer of mist, she could see the hidden village of Avalon.
It was a village still under construction, yet it gave Mrs. Weasley the impression of orderly progress, as if everything before her eyes was proceeding according to plan. Moreover, Avalon appeared to be much larger than Hogsmeade, and young people were everywhere, helping with the construction. It was hard to imagine that such a massive village was being built by this small group.
"According to Albert's estimate, it will take about a year for the entire village to be completed," Hermione guided Mrs. Weasley as she introduced her to Avalon. She took her to see the tent where Ginny usually worked, so she could better understand her daughter's endeavors, and the tent also housed a miniature model of Avalon, giving Mrs. Weasley a comprehensive view of the village.
"This is where I usually work, helping to register the inventory of construction materials, record any issues encountered during the build, and address reasonable requests," Ginny explained, pointing to the desk piled with folders. "And here is the model of the entire Avalon village. This is what it should look like once it's completed."
"It's truly beautiful!"
Mrs. Weasley marveled at the village model placed on the round table, her voice filled with quiet awe.
"It does feel like a dream," Ginny agreed.
"Indeed, it's like a dream. I heard the entire village was personally designed by Albert. Over here is the residential area, and this is where Harry and I will have our villa." Ginny pointed to the edge of the residential zone, where a flag bearing Harry's name was planted.
"The overall structure is mostly complete. We just need to wait a bit longer for the next phase of interior decoration," Hermione informed Mrs. Weasley. "However, after the wedding, Ginny and Harry will likely have to continue staying at their current place for a while, until the groundwork for the residential area is finished and they can move in."
"That's fine, too. Harry has been working late every day since he became an Auror, and he doesn't have much time to look after Ginny," Mrs. Weasley said, still worried about her young daughter. She never wanted Ginny to become a mother at such a young age.
While she herself had married Arthur at a young age, she didn't wish the same rushed circumstances for Ginny.
Neither Ginny nor Harry was truly prepared, but with Ginny already pregnant, there was little they could do about it now.
"By the way, Mom, this is Harry's guest list from his side," Ginny said, pulling out a piece of parchment from the folder and handing it to her mother. "Many of those who participated in the Wizarding War will be attending, so you'll need to estimate the number of guests and decide on the size of the tent accordingly."
Mrs. Weasley took the list, her eyes scanning the numerous names, and suddenly, she felt a bit dazed. Many times, she still couldn't quite believe that her daughter was getting married.
