Chapter 163: Greedy Lin Qi
Chapter 163: Greedy Lin Qi (Requesting Monthly Vote)
Within the Virtual Chamber of Tianhai First High School
"He's out! Lin Qi's out!"
Someone pointed at Pod 8 and shouted.
Instantly, all eyes turned toward him.
"How long did he take? With Lin Qi's strength as the peak expert from Cang Province, which assessment subject did he defeat?" Someone asked, swallowing hard.
"No idea!" The crowd shook their heads. Their skills were too weak—they couldn't even pass Subject 10, let alone imagine Lin Qi's true power.
After exiting the pod, Lin Qi noticed the crowd staring at him. Under the weight of countless gazes, he calmly strode toward the exit.
"Brother Qi, I made it to Subject 13. How about you?" Jiang Tao couldn't help but ask as soon as Lin Qi stepped out.
Lin Qi replied coolly, "Just enough to beat Subject 14."
Jiang Tao's eyes widened as he sucked in a sharp breath. "Brother Qi, you're incredible!"
...
Two hours later, the martial arts assessment officially ended.
"It's over!"
"Finally!"
As the examination hall gates opened, waves of students poured out, their faces glowing with uncontained joy.
With the martial arts exam concluded, the National College Entrance Exam had reached its final stage. The culmination of years of effort now lay behind them, leaving everyone feeling weightless with relief.
Lin Qi and Jiang Tao exited together.
Near the school gates, Lin Zhen, Fang Huiyi, and Jiang Miaoyin stood waiting with smiles.
"It's done!" Lin Qi grinned at his parents.
"Let's go. The National College Entrance Exam is over—we deserve a good break", Lin Zhen said heartily.
The five of them climbed into the car and headed home to Rongshan Residential District.
"These next two days, I'm sleeping nonstop. Nothing else."
"I'm trying every single delicacy in Tianhai City", Jiang Tao declared, picturing his ideal post-exam life.
"Brother, take me with you!" Jiang Miaoyin raised her hand eagerly.
"You've got finals in twenty days. Wait until summer break", Jiang Tao shot back without hesitation.
"But can't we do something these next two days?" she pleaded.
Lin Qi watched with a smile, his mind utterly relaxed.
Vrrrmm!!
Suddenly, his newly powered-on smartphone buzzed violently in his pocket.
Pulling it out, he saw multiple messages lighting up the screen. His eyebrows furrowed slightly—he realized his break would be short-lived.
The first message came from Dean Liu Jing of Azure Firmament Martial Academy's Sixth Institute, requesting another meeting to discuss terms. Other academy leaders had also sent urgent invitations.
With the National College Entrance Exam over and enrollment decisions approaching, the competition to recruit top talents had reached a fever pitch.
...
After a full night's rest, the following morning saw Lin Qi cycling alone to Crimson Vault Martial Arts Pavilion at 10 a.m., while most others still lingered in bed.
The pavilion felt unusually quiet—the calm after the storm of the recently concluded National College Entrance Exam.
"Mr. Lin!" The pretty receptionist greeted him warmly. "He's truly dedicated. Taking training seriously even the day after the National College Entrance Exam ended."
Taking the elevator to the second floor, Lin Qi arrived at the business negotiation wing—a hub for contracts, prodigy signings, and major meetings. He stopped at Room 206.
A soft chime echoed as he pressed the doorbell. Seconds later, the door opened, revealing Lu Wei—a woman with an hourglass figure and youthful, round cheeks.
"Lin Qi, come in!"
The 50-square-meter conference room featured luxurious black sofas, a thick glass table, potted greenery, and the faint aroma of brewed tea.
Liu Jing, the dean with prominent earlobes, sat calmly pouring tea. Though his aura remained carefully restrained, Lin Qi sensed latent danger beneath his composed exterior.
"Please, sit", Dean Liu gestured with a smile.
Lin Qi settled onto the plush black sofa opposite him. A steaming cup of tea appeared before him.
"You've kept us waiting a long time, Lin Qi", Lu Wei said playfully, her tone teasingly reproachful.
Lin Qi chuckled awkwardly. He'd ignored their over-a-month-old offer.
"No offense taken", Lu Wei waved it off. "We understand you weren't satisfied with our initial offer. That's why we've brought a revised proposal."
Lin Qi's pulse quickened—he knew their terms had escalated.
Dean Liu finally spoke, his sharp eyes gleaming with unspoken authority. "All previous conditions remain unchanged."
"But we've added two new terms." He raised two fingers.
Lin Qi's heart thudded. Somehow, he sensed these additions would be critical.
"Lin Qi", Dean Liu began, "I obtained your personal records from the assessment team."
"I learned your mother has suffered from Darkwinged Bat venom since childhood. Though the toxin was finally expelled after Spring Festival, prolonged damage has left her organs severely weakened."
"To restore her martial cultivation, the cost would be astronomical."
"Have you heard of the Body Purification Elixir?"
Lin Qi frowned slightly. "Body Purification Elixir?"
Lu Wei interjected, "This elixir cleanses the body of impurities and repairs damaged organs, regardless of injury cause. For your mother, whose organs deteriorated due to toxins, it would be a complete solution."
"However, it's rare and expensive—5 million Xia Kingdom credits."
Lin Qi's eyes lit up. This was exactly what he'd planned to seek post-exam.
"There's more", Dean Liu continued. "Your father lost his left arm. You must desire limb regeneration."
"The most renowned remedy for this is the Elixir of Regeneration."
Lin Qi nodded. This matched his private thoughts perfectly.
"Though you're now an S-Rank Genius with purchase eligibility, even if you save enough, you'd never acquire it", Dean Liu said confidently.
Lin Qi's brows knitted together, waiting.
"The Elixir of Regeneration is among the rarest tonics", Liu explained. "It regrows limbs, accelerates healing, and restores martial strength instantly—even for high-level experts. In battles against Disaster Beasts, it rapidly replenishes stamina."
"These elixirs are always snatched up immediately upon production. Only a few ever reach open markets."
Lin Qi leaned forward. "You're saying you can guarantee me one?"
Dean Liu nodded. "If you can save the required funds, I'll personally secure one for you."
Lin Qi fell silent, sipping tea.
After a pause, he said slowly, "I'll decide before the National College Entrance Exam results release."
Dean Liu's lips curved. "Of course. We'll remain in Tianhai City for the coming days. Contact me anytime."
...
After Lin Qi departed, Lu Wei turned to Dean Liu. "Do you think he'll accept? I heard the Second Institute is also courting him."
Dean Liu chuckled. "My offer doesn't need to be the absolute best—just better than theirs."
"I'm certain no one else knows the true scale of Lin Qi's innate talent."
