Chapter 1625: A War with No Victors (Seventy-Five)
Chapter 1625: A War with No Victors (Seventy-Five)
"Oh, you ladies are planning to join the fun too!"
George, who had come by to deliver a batch of materials, made this remark as he noticed the girls getting ready to head out. He offered this reminder after completing the inventory registration.
"If I were you, I wouldn't go there at this time."
"Is there a problem?" Angelina asked, raising an eyebrow.
"There's a grand opening sale at the Witch's Beauty Shop today, and a bunch of crazy women are about to burst through the doors," George replied with a hint of sourness in his tone.
"Are there really that many people?"
"Yes, enough to make one envious," George said, turning to look at his sister. He advised, "Your condition isn't suitable for being in a crowded place. If necessary, go find Lee Jordan. He's in charge of the shop today. You ladies can rest next door at the Dark Magic Defense shop."
The girls exchanged glances, ultimately deciding to check it out themselves.
They never expected the situation to be even more exaggerated than George had described. The Witch's Beauty Shop was indeed a hit with the ladies.
Even with the shop packed with customers, there were still quite a few girls outside, holding flyers and waiting in line. It was truly incomprehensible what was going on in their minds.
Suddenly, Shan'na bent down and picked up a flyer from the ground. After glancing at its contents, her face twitched slightly, and she casually handed it to Qiu Zhang, who was standing next to her, looking curious.
The other girls gathered around, and it didn't take long for them to understand the reason for Shan'na's reaction.
The Witch's Beauty Shop was extremely generous on its opening day, offering not only free product trials but also significant discounts and the opportunity to receive guidance from professionals. No wonder the beauty-conscious women had flocked here.
"Why don't we come back later?"
Facing the crowded entrance of the Witch's Beauty Shop, Ginny suggested, "It's too crowded for me to squeeze through, but since we're already here, none of us want to give up just yet. After all, we all know that this shop is connected to Albert, and the products they sell are effective."
In fact, the girls had considered trying to get the products directly from Albert, but they didn't want to trouble him too often, even if they had done so once or twice.
After a brief discussion, the girls decided to go about their own business first and return to the shop when there were fewer customers. After all, they were right next door and could easily get updates.
However, things didn't go as expected. Even after the girls had finished their shopping and played several rounds of Wizarding Chess at the Dark Magic Defense shop, the Witch's Beauty Shop next door was still packed.
"They're planning to hold the first Wizarding Chess tournament."
Shan'na fiddled with her Wizarding Chess set as she shared the latest news.
"The prize pool is a total of one hundred galleons. Are you ladies planning to join?"
Many of the girls here were skilled players of Wizarding Chess.
"Albert is as generous as ever," they remarked, guessing that this tournament was undoubtedly his idea, and only he would be willing to sponsor such an event.
"He probably wants to promote Wizarding Chess. After all, he has more galleons than he knows what to do with," said Hermione, who considered herself fairly knowledgeable about Albert.
"Yeah, that guy thinks his pockets are too heavy," Lee Jordan chimed in as he finally had some downtime, standing by the doorway and chatting with the girls while glancing at the shop next door.
"Wizarding Chess doesn't make much money, though."
"Then why is Albert..."
"He said that as long as it benefits people, Wizarding Chess will continue to spread throughout the wizarding world," Lee Jordan explained. The four of them had put a lot of effort into Wizarding Chess, so none of them thought Albert was wrong in his approach.
"When do you plan to hold the first Wizarding Chess tournament?"
"We've been too busy lately to plan anything, but we expect to hold the first tournament this year," Lee Jordan predicted as he sipped the milk tea prepared by the house-elf. "It'll likely be held at the Leaky Cauldron, the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, or our village. It's sure to be a lively event, and I believe many young people won't be able to resist such a generous prize pool."
"That does sound like something he'd say," Hermione agreed, aligning with Albert's perspective on the matter.
Regardless of the game itself, there would undoubtedly be many players as long as someone was offering galleons as prizes. And by hosting this tournament, Albert was simply accelerating the spread of Wizarding Chess throughout the British wizarding community.
"He also said that if Wizarding Chess becomes popular, this shop will become a specialty store for the game," Lee Jordan added with a smile.
"You'd give up the Dark Magic Defense shop?" The girls were surprised, as they were all too aware of how profitable it was.
"Now that the Second Wizarding War is over, we don't need to maintain a separate shop. Most of our products will be sold to the Ministry of Magic, and we'll just keep a counter for them next door," Lee Jordan explained, and they all understood that the need for dark magic defense items had diminished with the end of the war. It was already impressive that Albert had managed to retain this last piece of the pie.
Time passed as they chatted, and the crowd in the neighboring shop gradually thinned out.
As dusk approached, the number of customers at the Witch's Beauty Shop decreased, much to the girls' relief.
"Mrs. Primpeney, what brings you here...?"
The girls, who had arrived together, were surprised to see the middle-aged witch behind the counter. They never expected to encounter the owner of "Mrs. Primpeney's Beauty Potions Shop" here, and it seemed like she had become a staff member at the Witch's Beauty Shop? This was quite a turn of events...
"I work for the Witch's Beauty Shop now," Mrs. Primpeney replied calmly, as if she had explained this numerous times already.
"What about your shop?"
"Of course, I closed down the beauty potions shop before it got any worse," Mrs. Primpeney candidly admitted.
"Do you need to register?" She asked, looking at the group.
"Register?"
"If you need help, you'll need to register and make an appointment first," Mrs. Primpeney explained to the girls. "Today is a great opportunity, as the owners of Witch's Beauty Shops from various countries are here for the opening ceremony. They're happy to take time out of their schedules to help solve your long-term skin problems."
"Of course, most people are registering for appointments to enhance their beauty," Mrs. Primpeney winked at Hermione's group and kindly reminded them, "The owners of the Witch's Beauty Shops are all stunning ladies and experts in the field of beauty. Once you meet them, you'll understand that listening to their professional advice can only benefit your quest for enhanced beauty."
