Chapter 1623: A War Without Victors (Seventy-Three)
Chapter 1623: A War Without Victors (Seventy-Three)
After Louise came to her senses, she found herself lying on a cushioned chair, still basking in the afterglow of pleasure mixed with the weakness of exhaustion.
"Are you awake?"
Katrina put down the towel, picked up the glass of juice from the bedside, and helped Louise drink some to regain her energy.
"I feel like I just lost my soul..."
Louise struggled to prop herself up, trying to sit up properly, but her energy was severely depleted, and she felt weak all over.
"Mhm, you certainly did..."
Katrina helped Louise drink some more juice and then fed her a small piece of broken chocolate.
"It must be the after-effects of the wine he drank. Albert is usually very gentle, especially since it was your first time. He'll cherish you and give you beautiful memories."
Katrina knew that Louise needed Albert's companionship. In the past, Albert would have stayed by her side instead of leaving her here.
Unfortunately, that was the past, and as for the present...
Katrina turned her head to look at her side, knowing that the girls had made their own choices, and no one could be blamed for it. Ever since the girls agreed to host this dinner and planned to give Albert an unforgettable midsummer night, it was already destined to turn out like this.
Of course, part of the reason also lied with herself and Isabelle.
"Where's Albert?"
After finishing the juice and eating some chocolate, Louise finally regained some strength, but she felt emptiness in her heart, especially after hearing Katrina's words.
"As for him, he's currently being taken care of by Catherine and Valeria."
Isabelle turned her head to glance at Albert, who was intimate with Catherine and Valeria not far away. She put down the wine glass in her hand on the nearby table, leaned down and kissed the equally tired Louise on the forehead, comforting her softly, "Albert just expended a lot of energy on you, and he needs some time to recover."
As she spoke, she sat down beside Louise, reached out to pull her into her arms, and gently touched her sensitive spots with her fingers, so that Louise wouldn't feel lonely and empty afterward.
"The wine you brought is excellent. I'd like to drink some too, but I guess I won't have that chance tonight." Isabelle gestured for Katrina to bring the fruit juice she had brought earlier for Louise to drink, "The night is still young, let's get some rest first. If you want to be intimate with Albert again later, you'll need to regain your strength."
Although Louise didn't see Albert being intimate with the girls, she could guess what was happening. After parting lips with Isabelle, she slumped softly in her arms and gently hummed in acknowledgment. After Katrina fed her some more water and cake, she fell into a deep sleep again.
"Isn't this too much?"
Katrina looked at the exhausted Louise and asked her sister, "This was her first time..."
"It seems Louise is so tired that she fell asleep."
Valeria was drinking juice to replenish her energy and glanced at the sleeping Louise with surprise.
"I put a small amount of sleeping pills in her juice." Isabelle said calmly, "Louise was exhausted earlier, and she needs a good night's sleep to take care of her body. Besides, there will be plenty of similar opportunities in the future."
"Do you think Louise will get pregnant?"
Valeria looked at the sleeping girl and suddenly turned to Isabelle.
"I don't know, but I think she might. She plans to stay in the UK for a while, so there's plenty of time." Isabelle laid the sleeping Louise back down gently, leaned down and placed a light kiss on her forehead, then looked calmly at the complex-faced Valeria, "Louise is different from you; she's mentally prepared for this."
"Really?"
What would Valeria choose if it were her?
"Not having a child is fine too."
Valeria turned her head to look at the couple entwined again and whispered her true feelings, "I actually envy you."
"You can give up your life in the US and move to the UK to be Albert's full-time lover." Isabelle knew that Valeria wouldn't give up her hard-earned life in the US, even though she didn't have to worry about her livelihood.
"If it were right after I graduated from school, I wouldn't mind being a carefree canary in his cage, but now... never mind, Catherine needs me." Valeria shook her head in refusal and gave a ridiculous reason, not expecting Isabelle to believe her anyway.
"And besides, a lover is just a lover. I've never thought of completely entering Albert's life, and as for children... Katrina hasn't made up her mind yet either, has she?"
"I haven't put it off because I haven't made up my mind. It's because Albert has been wasting his energy on other women." Katrina's tone was particularly resentful, "If you really want to have a child, it's better to do it sooner while you're still young and your body can recover better."
Katrina wasn't lying.
She had only recently become Albert's lover, and the number of times they had been alone together could be counted on one hand. No wonder she felt resentful.
Whether it was Hermione or the three of them, they were all annoying.
Of course, Valeria wasn't wrong either. Katrina indeed hadn't made up her mind yet. A child was not just a continuation of bloodline but also a responsibility. She hadn't fully enjoyed her life with Albert yet, and the Witch Beauty Shop had just opened; it wasn't the right time to have a child.
"That's why it's enviable." Valeria looked at Louise sympathetically, "Having a child would be too cruel for Louise, and she would have to face everything alone eventually."
"She has a lot of choices, and it was her choice." Isabelle said calmly, "Just as Catherine made her own choice, and you have the right to make yours as well."
"That's what you want to see, isn't it?" Valeria shrugged and moved away from the 'toxic' Isabelle, returning to Albert's side.
Valeria knew that if Louise were to have Albert's child early on, it would be the biggest punishment for her in history.
This was probably what Isabelle wanted to see as well.
Compared to Isabelle's generosity, she would probably rather see Albert's child occupy most of Louise's remaining life.
If Louise were like Isabelle, her life would certainly be fulfilled. But she wasn't; she was just someone's lover, and the birth of a child would inevitably bring a series of problems and troubles.
