Chapter 1622: A War with No Victors (Seventy-Two)
Chapter 1622: A War with No Victors (Seventy-Two)
Part 72: A War with No Victors (Seventy-Two) Albert could guess the unspoken thoughts of the ladies, just as he believed Catherine thought he could guess hers.
However, no one would specifically point it out.
This was a subtle psychological game between them.
After all, Catherine, Isabelle, and Katrina had all signed contracts with Albert and were, in a sense, his lovers.
They wanted to give, but they also wanted to receive in return.
Although Albert wasn't particularly interested in having multiple beautiful lovers, he was still looking forward to the surprise Isabelle had mentioned.
To put it in the words of his past life, he wasn't losing out in this situation. If the ladies were willing to pursue him, he might as well enjoy it.
As for sharing some of his research results, Albert didn't mind as long as Isabelle was fine with it.
After recovering from the energetic dance, Albert, with Louise's enthusiastic feeding, devoured a large piece of chocolate cake and almost half a glass of juice.
"What did you mix into the juice?"
Albert picked up the half-empty glass of juice, narrowing his eyes as he felt subtle changes in his body, and glanced at Isabelle to his left, who was sipping champagne.
"A fruit wine brewed by Louise's family."
Isabelle passed her glass to Katrina beside her, leaned forward to lick the cream off Albert's lips, and said with a smile, "French champagne is indeed excellent, but it's too easy to get drunk on it. You still have several ladies to attend to, so you can't get drunk and neglect them. That's why I replaced the champagne with fruit juice and added some of Louise's wine."
Albert turned to look at the shy Louise, then back at the glass in his hand, his facial muscles twitching slightly.
With one-quarter Veela blood, the wine brewed by Louise's family would naturally lead people to make certain associations.
And Albert's guess was correct. The fruit wine that Louise brought was crafted using the traditional methods of the Veelas. In the magical world, it only existed in legends, as Veelas would never offer or sell it.
This enchanting wine, coveted by countless people, did possess some magical effects. Even when mixed with a large amount of fruit juice, it still had a slight influence on Albert.
The passionate dance with Catherine earlier was a testament to that.
While it was partly due to not wanting to stop halfway through the dance, Albert himself didn't want to stop, so he went along with it.
"This is a very unique wine, but it's a pity that it requires the unique brewing techniques of the Veelas." Isabelle picked up the bottle of wine and looked at Louise, indicating that she should explain the origin of the wine to Albert.
"It was given to me by my grandmother, and it seems to be related to the traditions of the Veelas," Louise said shyly. "It is said that when Veelas meet a man they like, they will offer them this wine and invite them to dance with them under the moonlight. This seems to be some kind of ancient sacred ritual for the Veelas, making men silently fall in love with them, forgetting everything else, and immersing themselves in a wonderful midsummer night together."
"So, is this a weakened version of some ancient ritual?"
Albert looked up at the ceiling of the hall, feeling that something was amiss. Now he understood why the ceiling had been transformed into a night sky, showering the dance floor with moonlight.
"I guess so, but I don't know if it will work," Louise replied.
"Catherine always says that you're too rational, and with so many beautiful lovers by your side, it would be difficult to leave a lasting impression on you without creating some unforgettable memories," Isabelle added.
"At least, I hope you'll enjoy this ball that we've carefully prepared for you," Louise said as she sat on Albert's lap and kissed him again, silencing any further words he might have said.
She hadn't forgotten Isabelle's reminder—Albert disliked lies and could easily see through them. So, she bluntly sold out Catherine.
Albert's expression became complicated, but he didn't reject Louise's overflowing affection.
However, the other ladies wouldn't allow Louise to monopolize Albert, and they soon surrounded him, giving him a taste of what it was like to be surrounded by beauties.
"Drink it, and then let's continue dancing!"
Isabelle waved her wand, conjuring an ancient, coarse cup with a faint green glow, into which she poured the fruit wine that Louise had brought.
"One for each of us."
"This wine is excellent for restoring one's stamina, but it's a pity that the Veelas usually don't sell it. It's part of their sacred ritual," Catherine said regretfully. She wished Louise could get her hands on the wine's recipe so that Albert could improve the brewing process and perhaps create a similar wine.
She had immense confidence in Albert, as if there was nothing this man couldn't do.
The two looked at each other, and Louise took the glowing cup from Isabelle, took a big sip, and then passed it to Albert.
Albert finished the wine in the cup. It was slightly sweet, reminiscent of sweet wine, but with a distinct flavor. It was likely due to the brewing process, but as Catherine had said, he could clearly feel his stamina recovering rapidly. However, it seemed to have more than one effect, as the blood in his body felt like it had been ignited, leading Albert to suspect that it contained a small amount of stimulant.
Amidst the surrounding ladies, Albert returned to the dance floor, this time with Louise leading him in a dance he had never seen before.
The other ladies seemed to have no intention of leaving, circling the couple as if waiting and anticipating something.
Oblivious to the gazes of the ladies, Albert was completely immersed in the dance, a nameless desire growing within him.
Although he could forcibly suppress this emotion, Albert chose not to. Across from him, Louise had already reached for the lily flower at her waist, and the wedding dress she wore seemed to open a new door to a whole new world for Albert.
The dance continued as if the couple had cast off all restraints, passionately dancing under the moonlight until the music stopped. Louise jumped and hugged Albert tightly, hanging onto him like a koala, and kissed him passionately.
The giggling ladies surrounded them, forming a tight circle.
Isabelle and Katrina, evidently experienced in such matters, exchanged glances and gently supported Louise.
Catherine and Valeria looked at each other, raised their hands, and extinguished all the lights in the hall, helping the newlywed couple with their final preparations.
In the dimly lit hall, countless shadows twisted and intertwined under the moonlight, creating an ambiguous atmosphere accompanied by uncontrollable, delightful sounds, weaving a magical midsummer night's symphony.
