Chapter 1620: A War Without Victors (Seventy)
Chapter 1620: A War Without Victors (Seventy)
"The white wedding dress suits Louise well."
Katrina's eyes lit up as she released Albert's hand and quickly walked over to Louise. She took Louise's hand, spun her around, and then pulled her towards Albert for a closer look.
"You look beautiful, and it suits you very well."
Albert felt that his words were a bit odd. If Louise were wearing a traditional wedding gown, he wouldn't have found it strange, but... this was not a conventional wedding dress.
"See, you're almost bewitched by her, Albert."
Katrina giggled as she reached out to pluck the white lily from Louise's waist, seemingly intending to give Albert another big surprise.
Unfortunately, Louise's reaction was much faster than hers. Before Katrina could make her move, Louise had already covered the white lily at her waist as if it were a precious treasure.
"You shouldn't have covered it just now. Instead, you should have taken the opportunity to fall into Albert's arms. He wouldn't have pushed you away, would he?" Katrina offered Louise some mischievous advice while pushing her to sit next to Albert. She then playfully winked at Albert and said, "Moreover, you're going to let him see it eventually. You'll get used to it and won't feel embarrassed anymore."
"That's how I did it," Katrina whispered into Louise's ear, "So, be bolder and take the initiative."
Louise hesitated for a moment but eventually mustered the courage to turn and sit on Albert's lap. She tilted her head back and looked at Albert with passionate eyes.
Her feelings were quickly reciprocated, and her lips were soon sealed by his.
Albert was quite skilled at kissing, and he immediately captivated Louise, who seemed ready to push him down right there in front of everyone.
"Ahem, while we don't mind, if you two continue like that, tonight's ball will be ruined." Isabel looked at the couple, who were entangled on the sofa, and gently reminded them, "I feel that it would be a pity to miss this ball."
Isabel's words snapped Louise out of her trance, and she quickly climbed off Albert, her cheeks turning a lovely shade of pink.
"I..."
"I'm right, aren't I?"
Aside from Isabel, Albert had been rather indifferent to the other girls, which was why the bold Granger had been able to take the initiative.
Katrina had also suspected that Albert was doing it on purpose, wanting to let Isabel know that even with multiple lovers, his love for her would never waver.
If that was indeed his intention, then it was safe to say that Albert's strategy had been a success. There was always a mysterious tacit understanding between him and Isabel.
Catherine and Valeria didn't keep everyone waiting for too long either. Soon, they entered the living room together.
Both women were dressed to captivate the male gaze.
Especially Valeria, who seemed intent on showcasing her petite figure. Her dress was exceptionally revealing, with no intention to conceal any part of her body, leaving others to wonder if she would be able to dance properly later.
As soon as Valeria entered the living room, she left her girlfriend's side and beelined towards Albert, throwing herself into his arms. She rubbed against him like a little cat before lifting her head to kiss him on the lips.
Valeria's kiss was sweet, reminiscent of the early days of a romance, intoxicatingly sweet.
If Albert had been an inexperienced young man, he might have become completely enamored by Valeria's bold advances. However, Albert was far from innocent, and he was familiar with such tactics. Many girls would eat something sweet before kissing to ensure their mouths tasted pleasant.
Nonetheless, Valeria's kissing technique was significantly better than Louise's, indicating that her relationship with Catherine was quite stable.
However, due to it being her first time interacting with a strange man, Valeria's heartbeat quickened, and she was no calmer than Louise sitting beside her.
Catherine averted her gaze from the passionately kissing couple and turned to Isabel, who was observing with interest. She furrowed her brows and asked, "Do you guys often play like this?"
"Rarely, but life needs some spices." Isabel appraised Catherine's three-point style swimsuit up and down and smiled as she commented, "However, you two are bolder and more confident than I expected, but you might lack a bit of allure."
"Why?"
Catherine was very confident in her charm.
"It'll get dull." Isabel replied without hesitation, "Okay, now that everyone is here, let's begin tonight's ball."
As she spoke, she walked over to the radio and started playing Yanira's sweet songs from the beginning.
"Actually, we did try to find Yanira, but unfortunately, she already had concerts scheduled and couldn't make time to come to England with us." Catherine listened to the beautiful melody and seemed quite regretful of Yanira's absence.
"But she agreed to be our image spokesperson and help with the sales of Spanish beauty potions." Valeria climbed off Albert, appearing very satisfied with their previous intimate exchange.
"The ball has begun."
"I know."
Valeria reached out and placed her hand on Catherine's outstretched palm, and the two of them stepped hand-in-hand into the "stage".
To everyone's surprise, Catherine and Valeria began dancing a passionate and unrestrained tango.
Albert felt a little dizzy watching the two girls in front of him, suspecting that they were doing it on purpose.
"Let's join them."
Isabel took Katrina's hand and stepped onto the stage as well. Their dance was not as wild and unrestrained as Catherine and Valeria's, and they opted for a simpler and more cheerful folk dance.
"Let's go!"
Louise took a deep breath and summoned her courage to say to Albert, "Let's go dance too!"
"Okay."
Albert took Louise's hand and joined the others in the dance floor, gracefully dancing the waltz.
Although he didn't quite understand how three different dances could be performed to the same soft and gentle love song, Albert thoroughly enjoyed this unique ball.
It was truly special.
And absurd.
But Albert believed that no man would dislike such an event.
Isabel watched the two figures dancing gracefully and whispered to Katrina beside her, "It seems that Albert really likes tonight's ball."
"I'm suddenly feeling a bit excited," Katrina murmured.
After successfully killing Voldemort, Albert's life had become tranquil, like a calm and waveless lake.
Not that a peaceful life was undesirable, but the three of them were too young to settle for such monotony.
That was how young people were; they yearned for new and exciting experiences.
And tonight's unique ball had stirred up the calm waters of Albert's life, reigniting his passion. It was like dropping a bomb into the lake, once again creating ripples in his serene life.
