Chapter 162: Too Much Detail Can Be a Bad Thing
Chapter 162: Too Much Detail Can Be a Bad Thing
"Breath of the Rocks, Total Concentration Breathing!"
Might Guy focused his breathing, absorbing large amounts of oxygen while rapidly gathering chakra, pushing his body to its absolute limit.
"Konoha Strong Whirlwind!"
Might Guy continued his assault towards Mu Yue.
Boom!!
Mu Yue dodged Might Guy's attack, but the tall tree behind him fell, crushing towards Mu Yue.
"Earth Style: Earth Flow Wall!"
Kakashi quickly performed hand seals and summoned a thick wall of earth with a dog's head in the center, blocking one of Mu Yue's escape routes.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
At the same time, Obito didn't waste any time, immediately using the powerful yet chakra-efficient Fireball Jutsu to block another path of retreat.
Mu Yue was now trapped, with a falling tree above, a wall of earth to his side, and a blazing fireball rushing towards him, while Might Guy and Obito closed in.
With one hand holding up the tree, Mu Yue switched to the Intermediate level of the Fire Breath, and with his free hand, he performed a single-hand seal and released a ninjutsu.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!"
Mu Yue spat out a massive fireball, five meters in height, directly at the incoming fireball.
The two fireballs collided, and Mu Yue's stronger fireball devoured Obito's, with the remaining flames continuing to rush towards him.
"A single-handed seal to release ninjutsu!" Kakashi was shocked as he watched Mu Yue's maneuver; he hadn't expected him to be able to perform such a high-level fire jutsu while supporting the weight of the tree.
Taking advantage of Mu Yue being occupied, Might Guy rushed towards him, and Kakashi, realizing what was happening, used the Body Flicker Technique to join the assault.
Now he couldn't be sure if this Mu Yue was a shadow clone or the original body.
Could a shadow clone display such prowess?
Obito, using the full power of the Fire Breath, dodged the incoming fireball and rushed towards Mu Yue.
Mu Yue pushed the tree towards Might Guy, instantly knocking him back, and then engaged Kakashi, who was armed with kunai and a short blade, in intense combat.
Obito, in his Total Concentration Breathing state, became a human flamethrower, continuously using the characteristics of the Fire Breath to create flames that interfered with Mu Yue's movements.
Might Guy, on the other hand, relentlessly charged at Mu Yue, attacking with various high-speed Whirlwind kicks.
Finally, Kakashi took advantage of a brief lull in their attacks and sneaked underground, successfully removing the bell from Mu Yue's waist.
"It really is the original body." Kakashi looked at the three bells in his hand, slightly perplexed.
"We finally did it," Obito said as he collapsed on the ground, exhausted.
The three of them could handle it for a while, but after facing Mu Yue's relentless attacks for some time, Obito felt drained.
Might Guy also lay on the ground, gasping for breath to recover his stamina.
He had been fighting in close quarters with Mu Yue throughout, and if it weren't for the slight improvement he felt when he rushed out to protect Kakashi earlier, he might not have lasted until the end.
Kakashi, too, was weary. He had been the first to bear the brunt of their training, and now that his teammates were resting, he sat down to catch his breath.
As the sun set, the three disciples beside Mu Yue rested in their own ways, while Mu Yue remained standing.
"Well done," Mu Yue said with a smile as he sat down. "Through your cooperation, you've completed the training."
Although it was largely due to his deliberate restraint, the trio's coordination was indeed impressive, especially during the first wave of attacks. An average jonin might have genuinely struggled against them.
With Mu Yue's true strength, if he hadn't held back, Obito and the others wouldn't have stood a chance. With his Byakugan, the ability to see the world through walls, and his perfect Lightning Breath, it would have been strange if they had managed to successfully ambush him.
He had gone back to cook, so he took the opportunity to shower and change.
Kakashi's mouth twitched as he realized he had overthought things. Sometimes, paying too much attention to detail could be a bad thing.
"Now it's time to replenish our energy," Mu Yue said as he got up and quickly brought over the food he had prepared, distributing it among the three of them.
"We have grilled fish and tempura today," Docto exclaimed as he eagerly opened his bento box, his mouth watering at the sight of the delicious food. "I'm digging in!" And with that, he began to devour his meal.
"Only by refueling can we make our youth burn even brighter! I'm starting too!" Might Guy opened his bento box and, after taking in the wonderful aromas, began to eat rapidly as well.
Watching Docto and Might Guy eat as if someone might snatch their food away, Kakashi felt a bit strange. They seemed more exhausted than usual, but not to the point of wolfing down their meals like this.
Kakashi opened his own bento box and realized that Mu Yue was indeed quite skilled in the culinary arts. The arrangement and presentation of the food were aesthetically pleasing.
He picked up a piece of fried shrimp and popped it into his mouth, biting through the crispy exterior to release an explosion of locked-in juices. The combination of crispy, tender, and fresh flavors gave Kakashi an unprecedented dining experience.
In a daze, Kakashi felt as if he had been transported to an underwater world, where there was no need for training or missions, and he could swim freely every day.
"Delicious!" Kakashi exclaimed subconsciously.
When he came to his senses, Kakashi quickly looked around, only to find that no one was using ninjutsu; everyone was simply enjoying their meals.
Kakashi admitted that he had underestimated Mu Yue's culinary skills. It would have been a shame to miss out on such a delicious meal just because of a failed training session.
The more Kakashi ate, the more he enjoyed it, and the faster he ate. Suddenly, his chopsticks missed their target, and he realized that he had finished his bento box and was still craving more.
"I'm satisfied; no regrets today," Docto said with a goofy smile as he lay on the ground.
Receiving Mu Yue's praise and getting to eat such delicious food—aside from the absence of Rin, today had been perfect.
"Kakashi, you should thank me and Mighty Guy," Docto began to gloat after finishing his meal. "If it weren't for us, you'd be slinking off to buy food on the streets."
"You clearly said it was the original body, yet you told us not to come out."
"While I did misjudge that it was a shadow clone, if that had indeed been one, your actions would have only led to a failed training session," Kakashi replied.
He admitted that he had misjudged it being a shadow clone, and he was wrong about that. However, he didn't think his decision had been incorrect.
If this had been an actual mission, Docto and Mighty Guy's actions would have resulted in a complete failure and lost opportunity.
"You're just being stubborn. Not lending a hand when your comrades are in danger—what kind of ninja does that make you?" Docto seized the rare opportunity to strike back at Kakashi.
"No matter how many times I encounter this situation, I will always make the same choice."
Kakashi recalled Mighty Guy's courageous kick and, surprisingly, didn't immediately refute Docto's statement.
"You're disobeying orders," Kakashi quickly found a way to counter-attack Docto.
Mu Yue didn't intervene, merely watching the exchange with a smile. It wasn't until it was time to disband that he spoke up:
"Tomorrow, we officially start taking on missions."
