Chapter 1619: A War Without Victors (Sixty-Nine)
Chapter 1619: A War Without Victors (Sixty-Nine)
Similar conversations were taking place in the bathroom.
Of course, even without Isabelle and Katrina voicing their thoughts, Albert, a master of mind-reading, could tell what the girls were thinking.
This was a common occurrence in his previous life.
However, he had never been a promiscuous man, and after being with numerous women, the initial excitement of a new relationship had faded.
He wasn't sure if it was because his desires had diminished or if his love had been spread too thin.
Regardless, Albert did not feel any thrill at having gained several beautiful lovers.
Isabelle seemed to have realized this early on and thus didn't mind Louise's presence.
"I think you should be happier," Katrina said with a smile as she helped Albert scrub his back with a towel. "After all, you gained three more women who are as good as wives today. Not many people have that kind of treatment."
Albert didn't respond to that but instead asked Isabelle, who was taking a bath.
"Did you give them the items?"
"Yes," Isabelle picked up some foam and blew on it. "To be honest, they do like you quite a bit. Otherwise, they wouldn't have easily agreed to make a pledge with you, risking their lives."
"So, you're not interested in them, and you see this more as a transactional benefit?" Katrina raised her eyebrows slightly, feeling that Albert was being a bit sentimental, but she was also grateful for her own situation.
They had emotions too, and they were not just an attachment to their sister.
"There are many beautiful girls in this world, and it's impossible for me to fall in love with every one of them," Albert said, rinsing off the foam from his body before deciding to soak in the large bathtub for a while.
"Louise really likes you," Isabelle said with a smile as she hugged Albert from behind and let him lean against her. She chuckled softly and added, "Of the three, she's the most suitable to be your mistress. It's a kind of traditional culture for them, so you don't have to worry too much about it."
"I think Valeria is more suitable," Katrina mumbled. "That woman... her standards aren't very high, and she probably expected this a long time ago."
"She already has Katherine, and North America is too far from Europe. It's inevitable that their interactions will be limited in the future," Isabelle said, glancing at Katrina, who was leaning against Albert. She continued, "To be honest, I was hoping that Hermione could join us as well. Then all your mistresses would be here, and tonight would definitely be more lively."
"I remember there was also a little Spanish girl who liked Albert. What was her name again?" Katrina couldn't remember the girl's name at the moment.
"Yanira, there's her signature on the record," Isabelle recalled the girl with vampire blood. "I think she should be graduating from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic soon."
"I remember Katherine wanted to bring that beautiful girl along, and she even considered making her the spokesperson for the Witch Beauty Potion," Katrina said, feeling that Albert had a lot of suitors. However, he didn't seem too keen on discussing this topic and kept his eyes closed, looking a little dazed and sleepy.
Unfortunately, he didn't soak for long before getting up to prepare for the dinner, as the house-elves had already sent over the carefully prepared food.
To be honest, the entire dinner process left Albert a little dazed and confused. At the very least, the welcome banquet at Hogwarts was not like this.
However, the girls didn't seem to mind and were quite satisfied with the rich and varied cuisine from different countries.
The only problem was that the portions seemed a little small.
"I'm actually quite curious as to how you can resist the temptation of food?" Valeria sized up the two sisters. From Isabelle's earlier introduction, it was clear that such a sumptuous feast was not uncommon in their family.
"Exercise and a good diet plan. It's rare for us to indulge like this,"
Isabelle picked up an oyster with her fork, dipped it in the boiling soup, then dipped it in some seasoning before popping it into her mouth.
This dish was originally meant for Albert, but he seemed to have grown tired of it.
"Maybe I should hire a house-elf chef too," Katherine suddenly felt a little unbalanced. They certainly had the money, but their daily meals were usually simple and the taste was average.
"Give us your recipe too while you're at it," Valeria added. "To be honest, I haven't had delicious food since I went to America."
"I think you're exaggerating," Katherine rolled her eyes.
"I'm actually more curious about how you train your house-elves to become excellent chefs," Louise knew that the various delicacies at this dinner came from all over the world.
"Maybe it's their hobby?"
Katrina had also been curious about this before, and Albert had said that it was because the house-elves enjoyed cooking.
The dinner ended in laughter and conversation, but the welcome party for the evening was not over yet. The messy dinner table was cleared away, and in its place was a table piled high with desserts and drinks.
The decorations in the living room changed again as Isabelle and Katrina waved their wands, transforming the bright lighting into a suggestive pink hue, as if foreshadowing what was to come.
The carpet beneath their feet disappeared, replaced by a large carpet that covered the entire living room.
Several soft lounge chairs appeared along the walls, and the soft melody of Yanira's singing filled the air. From then on, no house-elves were allowed to enter.
The girls returned to their respective rooms to get ready for the upcoming ball.
"So, this is the surprise you prepared for me?"
Albert looked at the fitted outfits that the two sisters had specially prepared for him, and his eyes twitched slightly.
He never expected it to be such a unique ball.
"Isn't this a pleasant surprise?"
Isabelle kissed Albert on the lips and winked playfully.
"It's not really a surprise, more like a shock,"
Albert looked at his cool outfit in the full-length mirror and sighed softly. "Aren't you girls embarrassed? I suddenly understand why some people like to wear masks."
"Not at all!"
Isabelle didn't mind changing clothes in front of Albert at all. It was a semi-transparent white nightgown that Albert had seen before, meant to add some spice to their nights together.
Katrina's outfit was black, and she had already reached out to loop her arm through Albert's, winking at Isabelle.
When the three of them returned to the hall, the other three girls had not yet arrived, so they sat down and chatted for a while before the door to the living room was pushed open again.
Louise, wearing a wedding dress embroidered with white lilies, walked in shyly. The white suspender stockings and white gloves accentuated the purity of her mermaid bloodline, making her look like a bride about to be married.
