Chapter 160: True "Safety" Means Killing People Ahead of Time
Chapter 160: True "Safety" Means Killing People Ahead of Time
Smoke and dust dispersed as Kaido steadied himself, locking eyes on the newcomer.
"Lucius Kro?"
The wounds carved into his back were already knitting shut, leaving not a single scar.
Kaido clenched his fists, purple lightning crackling across his arms as his fury deepened. "Come kill me, Lucius Kro!!!"
"Oh~ How terrifying."
Lucius Kro crossed his hands into an "OK" gesture, his sunglasses gleaming.
"Yata Mirror Beads!"
Shiishiishiish!
A barrage of laser beams erupted from Lucius Kro's palms.
Kaido stamped his foot, charging headlong into the onslaught without dodging. Lasers scorched his body, leaving blistering burns, but he pressed forward, his lightning-charged Fist roaring toward the lightstorm.
Boom!!!
The chaotic shockwave from his Fist collided with the lasers, compressing the energy into a blinding sphere before detonating.
Ziiiiip!
Suddenly, Kuro materialized beside Kaido, his blade Autumn Water flashing in a triple slash. The Haki-infused sword arcs encircled Kaido like a swarm.
"Swallow Return!"
Pengpengpeng!
Three slashes lashed Kaido’s body before coalescing into a single, devastating strike lodged in his shoulder.
Purple lightning erupted across his frame—Haki had blocked the attack.
Swinging his Fist, Kaido retaliated with a thunderous punch toward Kuro.
Boomboomboom!
Lasers rained down again, searing his body and slowing his movements. Kuro’s form rippled like a wave, dispersing as the punch tore through empty space.
Kuro reappeared beside Lucius Kro, a wisp of smoke trailing him. A vicious grin split his face as he tightened his grip on Autumn Water, visibly more relaxed.
Two-on-one was far easier.
Time to turn the tables!
"Rua!!!"
Kaido roared, unleashing a storm of purple lightning to counter the lasers. The smoke and dust from the battle scattered with his guttural cry.
Boom!
Dark clouds above split open, releasing a cascade of lightning that struck both combatants.
"Totsuka Sword!"
Lucius Kro clapped his hands, summoning a Light Sword. Lightning tore through his body, scattering him into radiant fragments that surged toward Kaido.
Kuro cleaved through falling lightning, his Black Blade glowing golden as he and Lucius Kro flanked the towering figure.
Beneath the stormy sky, Kaido was ensnared in dual golden lights, the energy swirling around his massive frame.
Lucius Kro’s Light Sword sparked against Kaido’s Haki before being blasted away by a punch, his form dispersing into light as he soared into the sky.
"Yata Mirror Beads!"
Lasers rained again.
Simultaneously, Kaido swung at Kuro, who vanished in a blur, reappearing behind him. The speed ignited smoke from his feet scorching the ground.
"Lion!"
Kuro unsheathed Autumn Water, releasing hundreds of Haki-charged slashes. Together with Lucius Kro’s lasers, they engulfed Kaido in smoke and debris.
Lucius Kro blinked in surprise mid-air. "Still alive? Scary."
Kaido swept away the smoke with a dismissive swipe. His body bore burns and gashes, but blood clotted rapidly, the wounds healing at an incredible pace.
His regeneration wasn’t quite Marco-level—yet he shrugged off injuries as if untouched.
Zoan Awakening’s vitality wasn’t a joke.
"Not enough! Still not enough!!!"
Kaido roared, springing toward Kuro with both fists.
Why target me instead of that creepy guy?!
Kuro inwardly cursed. Obviously, Lucius Kro was the bigger threat!
Lasers struck his back, staggering him.
"Endless attacks already?!"
Kuro’s two fingers glowed golden on Autumn Water. "Four Mythical Beasts!"
The Four Mythical Beasts surged around Kaido as Lucius Kro’s lasers created an opening. Kuro lunged, Autumn Water blazing downward.
"Ultimate Mystic Art!"
A colossal dragon spiraled from the sky, merging with his blade.
Kaido’s eyes narrowed. Purple lightning erupted wildly as he roared heavenward. "Bring it! Kill me!!!"
Shing!
The blade pierced his Haki, carving a shallow cross-shaped wound across his chest. Even Kuro's full-strength strike couldn’t breach deeper—yet the wound refused to heal.
Kaido staggered back, snarling. Swinging his Fist, he charged.
Boomboomboom!
Lasers bombarded his body, but Kuro vanished in a blur, evading the onslaught. The punches shattered the ground, leaving massive fissures.
Kuro narrowed his eyes, shouting skyward. "Gramps!"
Lucius Kro intensified his barrage, lasers engulfing Kaido in a storm of stone fragments.
Pinned down, Kaido couldn’t rise.
"Lion’s Majesty!"
Kuro clenched his fist. The earth beneath him crumbled, merging with debris and weapons to form a colossal lion’s head roaring downward. The meteoric beast slammed into Kaido, dragging him earthward as it ignited the air into crimson.
The sky cleared, dark clouds vanishing with Kaido’s descent, revealing a starry night.
So they’d fought through the day.
Kuro panted, not glancing at the falling meteor as he signaled Lucius Kro. "Let’s go, Gramps!"
He flew off, seizing the escape window. Kaido’s not someone you kill easily—they’d arrested him before with no permanent results. Fighting him further was pointless, even with Gramps’ help.
Besides, why risk another encounter?
Kuro preferred safety. Avoid threats unless unavoidable.
But if danger threatens your safety?
Eliminate them preemptively. That’s how he’d ensure perfect safety.
Too bad he couldn’t pull it off.
"Oh~ What a terrifying ability", Lucius Kro mused, scratching his head at the meteoric lion. He shrugged.
No need to capture Kaido now. A coming war didn’t need more enemies.
"Fine, just retrieve you then", Lucius Kro chuckled.
Let’s eat first; there are three more chapters to finish tonight before dawn.
Fish head bows; thanks to lords for more patience.
