"Congratulations on successfully conquering a large-scale Mountain Bandit Camp. You and your subordinates have earned 150,000 skill experience points to allocate."
Lu HaiKong chose to pillage, and the battle concluded with this decision.
A Mountain Bandit Camp with no less than five thousand bandits had fallen into Lu HaiKong's hands, and it had only taken a single night, with less than ten of their own suffering severe injuries.
It might seem unbelievable, but such a victory was not out of the ordinary.
After all, the Iron Stronghold was a system-generated monster spawn point. Although it had a considerable number of troops and even some data-generated NPCs, the Iron Stronghold had been in a state of complacency for a long time. Coupled with the system's constraints, they couldn't venture beyond the camp's boundaries.
This camp was essentially an immobile boss, lacking vigilance, allowing the Flame Battalion to thoroughly scout their details and make thorough preparations. Under these circumstances, was there any difficulty in capturing this camp?
As the dust settled, Lu HaiKong didn't immediately exit the Assembly Hall. Having swung his axe excessively, he felt a bit fatigued. As both the lord and instructor of the young men outside, he needed to maintain a certain level of authority.
After resting for over half an hour, as Lu HaiKong's stamina gradually recovered, he emerged from the hall, holding the Ghost Mask Axe. There was no trace of his previous desperate struggle.
Well, he hadn't been acting recklessly; he just wanted a breakthrough, as his strength had been stuck at 69 for too long. However, the Iron Family Brothers were clearly too weak, and Lu HaiKong didn't get his wish. Nonetheless, the rewards from capturing the Iron Stronghold were enough to make him forget his frustration.
When Lu HaiKong emerged, the Mountain Bandits from the Iron Stronghold had disappeared. They had fled when Lu HaiKong chose to pillage, leaving behind the assembled Flame Battalion and the collected spoils of war outside the Assembly Hall.
Since Lu HaiKong opted for pillaging, the bandits would take the camp's valuables with them. Lu HaiKong's gains depended on how much the Flame Battalion could salvage and what the bandits left behind. If luck wasn't on their side, they might not even find a single hair.
Fortunately, Lu HaiKong seemed to have good fortune. The Flame Battalion had intercepted a substantial amount, forming a small mountain of supplies right outside the Assembly Hall. They appeared to be bringing in more.
Lu HaiKong, unconcerned with these ordinary items, assigned the task of inventorying to the Flame Battalion and instructed them to notify the three battalions below to assist in the inventorying and prepare for transportation. Lu HaiKong focused his attention on the items obtained from the four individuals.
One unlucky fellow, whom Lu HaiKong had casually struck with his axe, had dropped a Silver Chest. Lu HaiKong hadn't had time to examine its contents before leaving, and the only others present were the Iron Family Brothers.
The Flame Battalion had collected their items long ago and placed them outside the Assembly Hall for Lu HaiKong's inspection.
"Only one Soulstone? Damn, the drop rate for these things is abysmal," Lu HaiKong grumbled.
Despite having four individuals with strength over seventy, there was only one Soulstone in the end. He had expected at least two or three.
In addition to the Soulstones, the other items they dropped were relatively common, mostly Martial Skill Manuals. However, two items caught Lu HaiKong's eye.
One was a palm-sized token that he was familiar with, as he had already obtained two of them. When Lu HaiKong picked it up, his face lit up with joy.
Recruitment Order (Bandit Guard)
Item Type: Military Item
Usage Conditions: Bandit Barracks Level 10 or above, Large Mountain Camp or larger
Lu HaiKong had seen the strength of the Bandit Guard before. They were quite formidable, with just twenty of them able to hold off an attack from fifty members of the Flame Camp. Their strength was impressive.
Seeing that the Recruitment Order was for Bandit Guards, Lu HaiKong felt a great sense of relief. He had always been concerned about the lack of a strong melee unit in his army. Now, with the Bandit Guards, this weakness could finally be addressed.
In addition to the Recruitment Order, there was another item similar in size, but it was something Lu HaiKong had never seen before.
Legion Formation Order
Item Type: Military Item
Usage Conditions: Large Mountain Camp, one General required.
Usage Effect: Allows the formation of a battalion from a group of up to 500 miscellaneous troops.
Lu HaiKong was a bit puzzled by this item since he had never used it before. However, from its usage conditions, it seemed to be a valuable tool. But now wasn't the time to study it. Lu HaiKong put the Recruitment Order, Soulstones, and Legion Formation Order away, leaving the rest to be sorted by the Flame Camp.
Just as Lu HaiKong was about to open the three treasure chests from the battle, Zhao Gang and a few others approached him, bowing respectfully.
"Pay your respects to the Lord!"
"Very good, you all performed admirably this time," Lu HaiKong said, looking at the group with satisfaction.
Although Zhao Gang was the overall commander of the battle, he wasn't the only one who made significant contributions. The others behind him had also played crucial roles on the battlefield.
These NPCs, being data-driven, didn't show any humility when praised by Lu HaiKong. Instead, they were all delighted.
"Once we return, Zhao Gang and Wang Yi, report to the Third Battalion."
Lu HaiKong had planned this in advance. The Flame Camp was designed to train outstanding generals, so those who were ready to 'graduate' wouldn't be kept back.
Lu HaiKong intended to place Zhao Gang in charge of the First Battalion. However, considering Zhao Gang's impulsive nature, he decided to pair him with a more level-headed deputy, Wang Yi.
Wang Yi was calm and grounded, with a gentle personality. Placing him under Zhao Gang would not only balance Zhao Gang's impulsiveness but also prevent any conflicts due to differing opinions. Together, they made a perfect team.
Zhao Gang and Wang Yi nodded and bowed in gratitude.
Lu HaiKong then turned his attention to the next two individuals. To be honest, their talents were no less impressive than Zhao Gang and Wang Yi. They were also ready to 'graduate,' but Lu HaiKong was unsure how to best assign them.
