Chapter 160: Individual Strategies (3k)
Chapter 160: Individual Strategies (3k)
"Alright, from now until sunset, you can use any method to snatch the bell from me."
Mu Yue finished speaking and hung the bell on her waist, leaning against a big tree as if she was taking a break.
Although Mu Yue was full of openings at this moment, the three of them did not make a move immediately.
Deidara and Might Guy, having been taught by Mu Yue for a long time, knew just how terrifying her strength was, especially Might Guy, who had witnessed her battle with the Six Gates Might Dai. That speed and strength were realms that he could not hope to touch at his current level.
Kakashi, already an experienced ninja, didn't plan to test Mu Yue's strength himself. He wanted to wait for Deidara and Might Guy to make their moves first and then take the opportunity to seize the bell.
"What should we do? It's so hard to snatch something from Teacher Mu Yue." Deidara scratched his head, unable to think of a way to get the bell from Mu Yue.
Might Guy, who preferred a direct approach, nodded in agreement. "I feel like we won't be able to get it at all if we just charge in."
With Mu Yue's speed, charging in would be a suicide mission.
"Do you know any intel on Captain Uchiha?" Kakashi asked after a moment's thought.
Having information on Mu Yue would be a great help in this battle.
"Of course, because Teacher Mu Yue is..." Deidara suddenly paused, remembering something.
"What is it?" Kakashi asked when he saw that Deidara had stopped mid-sentence.
"She's our summer training teacher," Deidara quickly added, his mind racing.
"Teacher Mu Yue has excellent chakra control, and she's very adept at water-walking and tree-climbing. Her Body Flicker Technique is also very fast."
Kakashi was speechless. Out of everything Deidara said, the only useful information was that her Body Flicker Technique was fast.
"So she wasn't being careless earlier," Kakashi thought to himself, speculating that Mu Yue might be a speed-type ninja.
Kakashi pondered for a while and came up with a strategy to grab the bell. Speed-type ninjas had low error tolerance, and as a teacher at the ninja school, she probably hadn't engaged in a real battle in a long time. Having just gone through a cruel battle himself, he had a significant advantage in this regard.
After thinking it through, Kakashi felt that he had a great advantage.
"Going one-on-one against her definitely won't work, but we just need to snatch the bell. We can try to use traps to distract Teacher Mu Yue and divert her attention," Deidara suggested after some thought.
He had experienced the power of traps first-hand during his training to learn the Hair Needle Senbon. If one let their guard down, they would end up suspended from a tree, pummeled, or thrown into a pit.
Might Guy nodded in agreement. Regardless of whether Deidara's idea was good or bad, he couldn't think of any other approach.
"Hey, Kakashi, aren't you going to help us set up the traps?" Deidara glared at Kakashi, who seemed unconcerned with the situation.
"Later, don't come crying to me when you're the only one left out and have to buy food by yourself."
"Your imagination is quite something, but I don't trust your trap-making skills. I can get the bell by myself," Kakashi said calmly.
Setting traps was a basic skill for ninjas. If one could confirm the battle venue in advance, setting up traps was a must. Kakashi also intended to make some traps, but he didn't plan to do it with Deidara and Might Guy.
After seeing the traps set up by Deidara and his team, Kakashi could only say that the ninja school students' trap-making skills were mediocre at best. The traps they made were not very threatening and were easy to dodge.
In Kakashi's opinion, with Deidara's trap-making level, there wasn't much difference between walking into the traps and facing Mu Yue directly. After all, in this type of training exercise, the teacher would usually go easy on the students. With Deidara's ability, he might be able to get the bell with a bit of luck.
"Kakashi, even if you beg me later, I won't share any food with you," Deidara said, wiping the sweat from his forehead after they finished setting up the traps.
"There are shops in Konoha's streets where you can buy food," Kakashi said, as if explaining something obvious to an idiot.
"Also, I won't lose." Before Deidara could get angry, Kakashi disappeared from his sight with a flash.
Kakashi didn't know how Mu Yue's special cuisine tasted, but to him, snatching the bell was like a task assigned by Mu Yue. He was just trying to complete the task to the best of his ability.
"Alright, Akimichi, you're faster, so lure Teacher Mu Yue to this trap area. With my Fire Release and the traps, Teacher Mu Yue definitely won't have much energy left to pay attention to you. That's when you seize the opportunity and grab the bell," Deidara said excitedly.
After training with Mu Yue for so long and having fought with Might Dai several times, this was their first time facing Mu Yue in battle.
Deidara wanted to gain Mu Yue's acknowledgment. In the past, they were her students, but this time was different. This time, he was a ninja, or at least an intern ninja.
"Leave it to me! My youth is already burning!" Might Guy grinned, showing his large teeth, his blood already boiling with excitement.
Worried that he would be instantly defeated if he got too close to Mu Yue, Might Guy stood twenty meters away and threw several shuriken at her.
Mu Yue, who had seemed to be resting with her eyes closed, suddenly opened her eyes and dodged the incoming shuriken.
With the sole purpose of training her students, Mu Yue naturally didn't use her full strength and instead chose to hang back, trailing just behind Might Guy.
Tobirama, who had been biding his time, sprang into action as he saw them approach. He swiftly cut the ropes binding a large log, sending it hurtling towards Mu Yue. However, Might Guy was prepared and dodged out of the way.
Whoosh!
Just as the log was about to collide with her, Mu Yue flashed to the side, appearing on a nearby tree and evading the trap.
"Fire Style: Fireball Jutsu!" Tobirama quickly performed the necessary hand seals and unleashed a fire jutsu towards Mu Yue.
A massive fireball, four meters tall, hurtled towards her.
"Success!" Tobirama couldn't help but pump his fist in celebration.
Given their proximity, Mu Yue would have little time to either dodge or counter the fireball with her own jutsu, especially with Might Guy so close by.
"Water Style: Water Wall Jutsu!" Mu Yue swiftly gathered her chakra and performed the necessary hand seals, summoning a wall of water to protect herself.
"Rock Breath, Full Concentration Breath!" Might Guy seized the opportunity presented by the water wall and accelerated using his breathing technique.
Just as Might Guy was about to grasp the bell, he realized his hand couldn't move. He looked up to see that Mu Yue had caught his hand.
"Such incredible reaction speed!" Might Guy thought in amazement. The trap, the fire jutsu, and his own ambush had all happened in an instant, yet Mu Yue had countered them effortlessly.
Bang!
Might Guy was slammed into a tree by Mu Yue.
"Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Claw Crimson!" To prevent Mu Yue from continuing her assault on Might Guy, Tobirama once again employed a fire jutsu.
For maximum power, Tobirama chose to use the standard version of the jutsu instead of the single-hand seal variation, causing countless shuriken to rain down on Mu Yue like fiery projectiles.
Mu Yue silently switched her breathing technique from Rock Breath to Thunder Breath and vanished from Tobirama's sight.
"So fast! Where did she go?" Tobirama scanned his surroundings, trying to locate Mu Yue, but to no avail.
"Damn, if only I had the Sharingan," Tobirama muttered, feeling envious of Itachi, who had awakened the Sharingan at the age of six.
In the next moment, Tobirama sensed a gust of wind behind him, and before he could react, he was sent flying, colliding with the tree next to Might Guy.
Might Guy quickly climbed to his feet, once again focusing his breathing and charging towards Mu Yue.
However, facing Mu Yue in her Thunder Breath state, Might Guy stood no chance of even grazing her with his attack.
Bang!
In the blink of an eye, Might Guy was sent flying even faster than before, crashing into a tree with enough force to make it tremble.
Witnessing Might Guy's defeat, Tobirama, who had been steeling himself to endure the pain and stand up, decided to sit back down. It was unrealistic for a single person to capture the bell, so he opted to restore his chakra instead.
After temporarily dealing with Might Guy and Tobirama, Mu Yue began searching for Kakashi.
"Her speed is indeed remarkable, but at this position, there's an opportunity!" Kakashi, who had been hiding in the shadows, observed Mu Yue's movements and prepared to act as she approached his trap zone.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
A barrage of shuriken flew towards Mu Yue, forcing her to retreat.
Kakashi then burst into action, dashing forward and drawing a short blade from his back, aiming to slash Mu Yue.
Mu Yue reacted swiftly, producing a kunai to block the incoming blade.
Kakashi's blade was fast and precise, each strike aimed at Mu Yue's vital points, forcing her to give ground.
"I've got her!" Kakashi exclaimed as he detonated the explosive tags he had prepared earlier.
Sensing something amiss, Mu Yue quickly retreated to the side.
BOOM!!!
A brilliant flash of red light filled the air, followed by a massive explosion that left a charred crater more than five meters wide.
Kakashi seized this opportunity to grab for the bell at Mu Yue's waist.
"The traps are good, but one person's strength isn't enough," Mu Yue said as she caught Kakashi's hand.
"Such incredible speed and reflexes!" Kakashi thought in shock. He hadn't felt much when watching Might Guy and Tobirama being overpowered, but now that he was facing Mu Yue himself, he realized how absurdly fast she was.
"Why didn't you join the attack when Tobirama and the others were assaulting her? It would've been easier to seize an opportunity with three people."
"Because I think one person is enough," Kakashi replied.
"Is that so? Looks like your idea was wrong," Mu Yue said with a slight smile. Before Kakashi could react, he found himself slammed into the tree next to him.
Poof!
Kakashi's body turned into white smoke and dissipated.
The real Kakashi, who had been hiding in the shadows, seized the opportunity when Mu Yue was occupied with her attack and brandished his White Fang, aiming to slice the bell from her waist.
"Indeed, one person is enough," Kakashi thought.
