Chapter 16: The Dwarven Caravan, Molic Copperbeard
Chapter 16: The Dwarven Caravan, Molic Copperbeard
On the sixth day, after staying in for two days, Qin Muye ventured out with Molic Copperbeard to take on some monsters. Well, not exactly to fight them; he just needed to stay out of harm’s way.
This time, he brought along ten sprites specifically to protect him. These sprites benefited from Molic's attribute bonuses.
Molic, at level 3 with his equipment, had an attack power of 22 and a defense of 18. With a 10% attribute boost, the sprites gained 2 points in both attack and defense. If any danger arose, they could serve as cannon fodder for Qin Muye.
Moreover, the sprites also benefited from Molic's Intermediate Offensive Skill and Basic Tactics, allowing them to hold their own against most first-tier units, except for elite ones.
However, Qin Muye didn't really expect the sprites to do much fighting. That job was for Molic, who was even stronger now at level 3 than when he was at the Champion level.
Especially last night, Molic gained a new skill, though it was a bit peculiar. Unlike Offensive Skills or Tactics that could be shared with units, this was more like an active magic ability.
[Bloodthirsty Frenzy: Activates a 15-minute duration where 1% of health is lost per minute, and attack power increases by 2%. The duration resets if health drops below the threshold.]
This ability was typical of a Frenzied Warrior, complementing the Blood-soaked Struggle skill. Together, 1% of health could be exchanged for 3% of attack power.
Qin Muye understood that these skills from the class certificates could be transformed into hero skills. He could learn them himself, but with 0 attack power, even a 200% increase would still be 0.
This skill was best suited for Molic, who could sustain the blood loss. Later, he would find a way to get Molic a healing item, which would make things more interesting in battle.
Currently, both Blood-soaked Struggle and Bloodthirsty Frenzy involved trading health for attack power, but there was a limit—up to 300%. If Molic reached 300%, he would be dead.
So, the best approach was to keep the attack boost around 150%, reserving 50% of his health.
Qin Muye didn't have Molic activate it yet, as there were no formidable enemies around. To sustain it indefinitely, he would need to find a healing item.
However, such items were hard to come by. Most of the treasures he had obtained so far increased attack and defense, with very few boosting knowledge or magic power.
[A Crushing Victory: You gained 82.5 experience points.]
[You scavenged and obtained:]
[.]
Molic had slain ten goblins. Since the experience was split between them, Qin Muye and Molic each gained 50 points. However, due to his Intermediate Enlightenment and Learning Ability, Qin Muye received an additional 32.5 experience points. The resources were basic, with no special items.
The journey was rather dull, and if not for the need to meet the territory upgrade requirements, he wouldn't have bothered to come out. It was almost like a leisurely stroll.
"Master, there seems to be a caravan up ahead," Molic suddenly spoke up.
Qin Muye perked up and looked in the distance. Indeed, there was a caravan. He was a bit puzzled, wondering if it was just a projection or a clone like the Wisdom Tree.
"Let's approach them," Qin Muye decided.
While approaching a group of natives could be dangerous, it was also an opportunity.
[You have encountered a caravan.]
With the notification, Qin Muye saw the caravan come to a halt. They seemed to be aware of his presence.
A dwarf squinted his eyes at Qin Muye before hopping off the carriage.
"Let me take a look. What does a blessed lord like you need?" the dwarf asked.
Molik Copperbeard
Occupation: ???
Talent: ???
Attributes: ???
Skills: ???
Magic: ???
The reconnaissance spell only revealed question marks to Qin Muye, except for the name. He realized he needed to upgrade his temporary reconnaissance spell to a permanent one soon, or he wouldn’t be able to gather information on higher-tier entities.
Clearly, this dwarf named Molik Copperbeard was stronger than him, reaching the 2nd tier.
"That's very impolite. As this is our first meeting, I'll forgive your rudeness," Molik said with a hint of displeasure in his tone.
Qin Muye smiled. "I apologize. This is my first time meeting a dwarf, let alone a hero."
Molik could use the reconnaissance spell to reveal names, while the Wisdom Tree had been like a stone, unable to activate the spell at all.
"Fine, old Molik has other places to go. These damned rules. Tell me what you need, and just prepare the gold," Molik's tone softened slightly, but not by much. He also revealed a bit about the situation of the natives, such as being bound by the rules.
"Are there any blueprints for goblin workshops, related renovation knowledge, and magical knowledge?" Qin Muye asked directly, without even looking at the merchant interface.
This caught Molik off guard, but he answered straightforwardly. "Goblin workshop blueprints cost 1000 gold coins, and goblin factory blueprints cost 5000 gold coins. I'll throw in a goblin magic manual for free."
"Also, there's a complete set of elemental mage apprentice basics, but that costs 10,000 gold coins. It includes all the basic spells, which are the 1st tier spells of earth, fire, water, and air."
"As for higher-tier spells, you can't afford them."
Molik's tone was tinged with irritation, clearly upset at the time Qin Muye was taking.
"Alright, I'll take the blueprints for the goblin workshop and goblin factory. As for the magic manual, I can't afford it. When will you pass by here again, Sir Molik?" Qin Muye operated the interface and paid 6000 gold coins. He hadn't expected the blueprints to be so expensive.
There were many other blueprints that caught his eye, but he couldn't afford them. His gold was only enough for these two.
You spent 6000 gold coins to purchase blueprints: Goblin Workshop, Goblin Factory
You received the Advanced Goblin Experiment Manual from Molik Copperbeard
Advanced Goblin Experiment Manual
Research Requirements: 2nd Tier Territory, Magic Guild or Mage Tower
Using this will grant you the following goblin magic research: Luck, Goblin Spirit: Vigor, Goblin Constitution: Magic
"Next time? If you don't bind me with these damned rules, I'll be back in about a month," Molik muttered, but he was honest.
"In that case, I look forward to your next visit, Sir Molik," Qin Muye stepped back and closed the shop interface.
"If your territory has a tavern or market, I'd be happy to trade with you. I hope you have them built by the time I return," Molik said, then left without looking back, feeling quite unlucky.
