Chapter 16: ∞ Energy
Chapter 16: ∞ Energy
“Huh?”
The Gastly circled around the Mega Stone in Jing He’s hand, its eyes filled with curiosity.
A Mega Stone?
What’s that?
“If I’m not mistaken, this should be your Mega Stone.”
Jing He rubbed the spherical object in his hand, speaking softly.
“Huh?”
Mine?
The Gastly was taken aback.
So, what exactly is this thing?
“Mega Stone.”
Seeing Gastly’s confused expression, Jing He smiled and began to explain.
As is well known, most Pokemon go through one or two stages of evolution, with a few exceptions.
For example, Gastly evolves into Haunter, and then into Gengar, which is its final evolutionary form. After that, no matter how much its strength or level increases, Gengar won’t undergo significant physical changes.
However, if you have the corresponding “Gengar Mega Stone” and a “Key Stone” that can activate the Mega Stone’s power, and if Gengar has a high enough bond with its trainer, it can “Mega Evolve” into a Mega Gengar!
This is the purpose of a Mega Stone.
“Huh, huh?”
Mega Gengar?
The Gastly swallowed hard, its eyes gleaming.
Just the name sounds so powerful, doesn’t it?
Super, right?
“First, you need to evolve into Gengar,” Jing He said, dashing Gastly’s fantasies with a splash of cold water.
“Huh!”
But Gastly didn’t seem discouraged. It nodded seriously, its face set with determination.
Looks like I need to train harder!
Jing He chuckled, surprised that the Mega Stone could serve as such a motivator.
Usually, during training, Gastly, while not entirely lazy, had a mischievous and cunning nature. Whenever Jing He wasn’t watching, it would find ways to slack off and goof around. Jing He had never found a good solution to this problem.
Now, with the Mega Stone and the allure of becoming a Mega Gengar, Gastly might take training more seriously.
However, Jing He had more on his mind than just Gastly’s future dreams.
Why did Dr. Solance end up with the Mega Stone, and why did the Great Violet Corporation want it?
First, there are two theories about the origin of Mega Stones.
The first theory suggests that Mega Stones might have been created when special evolution stones, like Fire Stones or Water Stones, were illuminated by the energy of Xerneas and Yveltal, the “ultimate weapons” from about three thousand years ago. This is why many Mega Stones are found in the Kalos region.
The second theory states that about a thousand years ago, a massive meteorite struck the Hoenn region, forming what is now known as Sootopolis City. At the meteorite’s core was a giant Key Stone, and the scattered pieces of the meteorite became the various Mega Stones and Key Stones found in Hoenn.
So, finding a Mega Stone in Hoenn isn’t entirely surprising.
But the question remains.
Why would the Great Violet Corporation, an energy company, be interested in a Mega Stone?
And how did they know Dr. Solance had it?
Until these questions were answered, even if Jing He managed to fool Daiki, he would likely still be sought out, given that he had the Gengar Mega Stone in his possession.
“Hold on.”
Jing He brought over his computer and began searching through Devon Corporation and Great Violet Corporation’s history.
With his knowledge of the Pokemon world, he quickly found the key—∞ Energy!
Or, as it was also known, “Living Energy.” This concept was proposed by the current president of Devon Corporation’s grandfather, inspired by the “ultimate weapons” from three thousand years ago. It took several generations to perfect and successfully develop the technology.
Devon Corporation, a manufacturing company, managed to develop the technology to convert life energy into “∞ Energy,” which, combined with the vulnerabilities of the energy company Great Violet Corporation, led to the latter’s bankruptcy.
This energy also helped Devon Corporation become the behemoth it is today, capable of rivaling the Silvion Corporation in the Kanto region.
Given that Mega Stones also originated from the “ultimate weapons” and theoretically contain a form of “Living Energy” or “∞ Energy,” it made sense that the Great Violet Corporation was after the Mega Stones for their energy.
With these theories, many questions seemed to make sense.
After reviewing the information, Jing He sat in his chair, propping his chin and falling into deep thought.
Understanding this information, he did come up with a few thorough solutions, but they required careful execution.
However, just dealing with Dazai, the “remnants” of Dazijin Corporation shouldn't find him again for a while.
This allowed him to breathe a temporary sigh of relief.
"Gengar, let's continue practicing Hypnosis," Jing He called out.
"Rogue—"
To his surprise, Gengar's voice came from the kitchen.
Accompanied by the smell of gas, Gengar, who had gained a bit more weight, appeared before him with a sly smile.
Just three seconds, only three seconds! They looked at each other for a few seconds.
"Burp—"
Jing He sighed.
The next day, Jing He dressed in relatively formal attire and led Gengar out of the house.
Today, he had a Pokemon Psychology class to teach.
The autumn temperature in Kanaz City was still comfortable, and the rain from the previous day had cooled the originally hot weather. So, even in a shirt, vest, and a simple suit, he didn't feel hot.
Since his class was in the second period, he and Gengar rested in the counseling room—Jing He brewed coffee, organized his lesson plans, and Gengar watched videos.
Recently, Gengar often watched videos on Jing He's computer, and it seemed that he had indeed learned a few things from them.
When the bell for the first period rang, he took Gengar to the classroom.
Pokemon Psychology was a relatively unpopular elective course, evident from the fact that Jing He only taught his first class on the first day after so many days of the school year. Therefore, his classroom didn't need a large lecture hall and was instead in a small room on the second floor.
However, when Jing He reached the stairs on the first floor of the building, he encountered a tall female teacher with long black hair.
"Teacher Jing He, you're going to class," the female teacher, dressed in a light blue long dress, greeted him with a gentle but distant smile.
"Yes, I didn't expect Teacher Aquan to remember me."
"Teacher Jing He, we weren't sitting close last time at the teachers' meeting. Go ahead to your class, we can chat next time."
"Sure."
As Jing He and Teacher Aquan passed each other, Jing He felt a chill run down his spine, a bone-chilling cold.
Aquan, the Oceanic Stream! One of the three major officers of the Oceanic Team!
If not for today's encounter, Jing He wouldn't have thought that among the hundreds of teachers at Kanaz Pokemon Academy, there was such a person.
Jing He took a deep breath, maintaining his pace as he continued upstairs. The Oceanic Team was still lying low, and Daimu hadn't become the Champion yet. The "Sea vs. Land" conflict between the Oceanic and Magma Teams was still a while away. As long as he didn't provoke her, there shouldn't be any issues.
He couldn't even confirm if Aquan had already become an officer of the Oceanic Team.
On the surface, they were just two ordinary subject teachers at this renowned Pokemon Academy. Such a position, while already excellent for many ordinary people, seemed trivial to some powerful trainers.
The distance in her smile was better, the farther, the better. He hoped never to see her again.
"Rogue—"
Gengar poked his head out from Jing He's clothes, squinting his eyes at Aquan's retreating back.
Who did he look down on?
He licked his tongue.
