Chapter 1599: A War with No Victors (Forty-Nine)
Chapter 1599: A War with No Victors (Forty-Nine)
"Generating electricity using solar and wind power isn't too difficult..."
At the entrance of the tent, Hermione pointed to the lit lamp on the table and said to Albert, who was flipping through a newspaper at the edge of the table, "But generating power using these methods isn't very stable."
"You'll need to prepare storage batteries. Storage has always been a big issue."
"Those things aren't cheap, and..."
Hermione felt that Albert shouldn't try to promote the use of electricity in a wizarding village; it was simply wishful thinking.
"Do you think they should be separated?"
"I think we should let them make their own choices." Hermione looked at the feebly rotating electric fan on her right and reminded him, "This is a bold attempt, and our technology isn't mature enough yet. Maybe we should slow down and give everyone time to adapt. Once they see the convenience of electricity, they'll take the initiative to get their homes wired."
"Perhaps you're right, but we're not in a hurry to discuss this issue yet." Albert explained, "What we need more is someone who knows how to use these things."
"Can't you do it yourself?"
Hermione believed that since Albert intended to bring electricity to the village, he must have studied these things beforehand. Perhaps... no, he was definitely more skilled than she was.
"It's impossible for me or Sana to do everything. Otherwise, we won't have time for other things."
Albert wasn't trying to shirk his responsibilities. He could fill in when they were short-staffed, but the problem was that they couldn't always be understaffed, so he had to leave this task to someone else.
Sana took out a file from the file box and handed it to Hermione, explaining, "I made two backup plans according to Albert's idea. However, we haven't decided which one to use yet."
After flipping through the file in her hand, Hermione felt even more like she was superfluous, and the joy she had felt from completing the task Albert had assigned her vanished instantly.
"Which plan do you intend to use?" Sana suddenly asked.
"Let's decide after the village is built. For now, we'll just prepare the plans."
"You're quite far-sighted."
Hermione gazed resentfully at Albert, who was reading the newspaper, and planned to find time to have him make it up to her for the hurt to her heart.
At that moment, Ginny and George walked into the tent side by side.
"Have you decided?" Sana asked with a smile.
"The villa near the park." George walked to the model and stuck a flag with Harry's name on it in front of a particular villa. "There's enough space nearby to set up a tent."
"I thought you'd lend Harry the manor you used for your wedding with Isabelle?"
"That's not my manor, and that place is protected by the Unbreakable Vow. It's a hassle to use it." Albert turned another page of the newspaper. After learning about Harry's problem from Sirius, he had simply helped him solve it.
"Harry will be very happy. At least they won't have to worry about where to live after they get married." Hermione said happily.
After all, Harry and Ginny couldn't continue living at the Weasley's after they got married.
That would be too embarrassing! "By the way, what's the name of this village?" Ginny awkwardly changed the subject.
She and Harry had thought about this issue, but neither of them had a good solution because their wedding date was too rushed, and many things weren't ready yet.
"Doesn't our village have a name?" George looked at Albert in surprise.
"I've been collecting name suggestions, but most of them aren't very good." Sana took out her notebook, flipped through it, and said, "However, most of the names suggested aren't very impressive."
Hermione secretly glanced at the capable Sana and suddenly realized that those chosen by Albert were indeed extraordinary.
"There's no need to rush this. We can take our time and think of something good." Albert said.
"What would you name it if you were to choose?" Sana asked directly.
"Avalon."
"The ideal country? That's not bad."
Sana made a note of it and asked around, but most people couldn't come up with a good name on the spot.
"How's Harry doing lately?" George changed the subject.
To be honest, he thought Albert's suggestion of Avalon was pretty good, and it certainly wasn't because he was too lazy to think of a name.
"He's been busy. Recently, those Death Eaters have been causing trouble everywhere like madmen, creating many undead attacks. Harry and Ron often have to work late into the night." Ginny was heartbroken that Harry had to work overtime every day, and she couldn't help but complain, "I really don't understand where those Death Eaters get the courage to provoke the Ministry of Magic."
"Maybe their brains have been collectively jammed in doors." George shrugged.
In fact, not just him, but most people couldn't make sense of the current situation and even more so, the meaning behind the Death Eaters' confrontation with the Ministry of Magic.
Did they want to die faster?
"Isn't the Ministry of Magic saying that someone is targeting Kingsley and trying to prevent him from becoming the Minister of Magic?" Sana said the "standard answer" she had read in the newspaper.
"Do you believe that?"
George didn't buy that excuse, either. Perhaps that was part of the reason, but there must be other more important reasons, otherwise, this incident wouldn't seem so strange.
After all, how could the remaining Death Eaters have the energy to cause such a huge mess?
"I heard that Kingsley seems to be considering reorganizing the Special Operations Squad. They are severely short-staffed." George glanced at Albert and continued, "I just met Percy, and Kingsley hopes to hire some temporary Aurors to get through this difficult time."
"How much for a month?" Albert asked.
"I thought you'd lend Kingsley a hand." Hermione was surprised that Albert brought up remuneration right off the bat.
"Even if they were close brothers, accounts must be made clear, let alone the fact that everyone is busy." Albert shrugged, "If the remuneration is satisfactory, I believe everyone would be happy to help out in their free time."
"It's a bit lower than regular Aurors. The Ministry of Magic doesn't have the funds to pay high fees." Sana glanced at Ginny. She felt that if the construction of this side were to stop due to this, Harry and Ginny would probably cry! If the construction stopped, the entire village would come to a halt, and their wedding house would become a distant dream.
"If it's not much, then forget it. We can't have everyone working for nothing."
"Aren't you going to help Kingsley?" Hermione was even more surprised.
"The attacks in the wizarding world nowadays are actually due to internal conflicts within the Ministry of Magic." Albert hesitated for a moment before explaining to everyone, "You can think of it as a conflict between the old and new factions due to unequal distribution of interests."
"Unequal distribution of interests?"
Everyone looked at each other, hearing this explanation for the first time.
"There's a saying that the current chaos is actually caused by certain pure-blood families who used to support Voldemort." Albert said meaningfully, "The reason is that Kingsley is gradually removing the spies Voldemort planted within the Ministry of Magic."
Was this the truth?
Or, part of the truth?
