Chapter 159: Miss Lettuce, How Should I Calculate My Generation?
【Copper Ring】
【Rank: Advanced】
【Attributes】
【Immune to all attacks below Rank 5】
Qin Muye took the ring from Miss Lettuce and put it on his own hand. It was a bit loose, but at least it was useful.
Rank 5 was probably the upper limit for advanced items. Beyond that, Rank 6 and above would correspond to the level of divine artifacts.
As for Miss Lettuce, Qin Muye had also figured out her background.
She was a Siren, a creature with a human head and a bird's body, or more accurately, a divine descendant, though not a Harpy. They just looked similar.
This was because they had different origins.
Qin Muye learned a lot from the witch.
The Harpies, also known as Harpyiae, were the offspring of the sea god Thaumas and the ocean nymph Electra.
The Sirens, while similar in appearance, were born from the blood of the river god Achelous.
The Harpies were fierce and wild, more like monsters, while the Sirens were beautiful and had sweet voices, but were also poisonous and deadly. They could even transform into mermaids by the sea.
This was the key difference between the two.
Of course, Miss Lettuce was different. She wasn't an ordinary Siren but the daughter of the river god Achelous. The witch was only temporarily taking care of her.
Because of her pure bloodline, she had hidden her bird-like appearance, but she still inherited the Siren's traits—beautiful looks and a sweet voice. Her terrifying charm could even drive wizards to madness.
Qin Muye was also quite taken aback. What was this?
Miss Lettuce was clearly struggling to accept her identity as a Siren.
Fortunately, she lived inland; otherwise, she might have ended up playing the role of a mermaid princess, reenacting the story of "The Little Mermaid."
Of course, the likelihood of that was low. The mermaid princess was more likely to be a daughter of Poseidon or Thaumas.
Both were sea gods, but Poseidon was of a lower generation, while Thaumas was a son of Gaia and had many sea-related offspring with her.
Greek mythology was always chaotic, whether it was the gods or their family relationships.
Besides the sea gods, there were also the primordial sea goddess Tethys and the sea goddess Halia, among others. There were many gods of the same type.
When Qin Muye learned all this from the witch, his worldview was nearly shattered. With so many gods and such a chaotic family tree, how would he know who to give red envelopes to during the New Year?
He couldn't call someone "brother" and have that person call him "father."
But then again, with the Greek gods, it might not be impossible.
After all, Zeus was a god who didn't hesitate to pursue his own daughters, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters. The private lives of other gods were probably similar.
"A Siren, a male wizard, and a female witch—quite a bountiful harvest," Qin Muye said with satisfaction.
As for offending the river god Achelous, Qin Muye wasn't really worried. If the god wanted to find him, he would have acted by now.
Oh, right, the father of the river god Achelous was the ocean god Oceanus, one of the twelve Titans and a son of the earth goddess Gaia. The river god Achelous was also a child of Oceanus and Gaia.
So, theoretically, the background was quite significant, but because he had so many contemporaries, like the three-headed dog Cerberus, who was also considered a nephew of the river god Achelous.
After all, Typhon, Cerberus's father, was also of a similar nature.
This situation nearly confused Qin Muye.
Even more confusing, he realized that Zeus and Cerberus were actually of the same generation.
Zeus was a grandson of Gaia, and so was Cerberus.
These two were among the few who didn't have a chaotic lineage.
However, chaotic as it was, Qin Muye was grateful for his ordinary looks. If he were handsome, he might have been noticed and pursued by these Greek gods, who didn't discriminate between genders.
"So, the Titans have two forms: one as gods and one as divine abominations."
Qin Muye thought that although Cerberus and Zeus looked different, their bloodlines were the same. So, what went wrong in the middle to cause genetic mutations?
Upon hearing Qin Muye's words, the witch and the wizard were both shaken. They hadn't expected him to be so bold as to speak ill of the gods behind their backs.
If the gods found out about this, the outcome would be worse than death, and they would also be implicated.
"Who knows, maybe the Titan bloodline in Lettuce is stronger than the one in my three dogs."
"By the way, Lettuce, theoretically, you and my three dogs are cousins. They have the blood of Cerberus, which means their grandmother is Gaia, and your grandmother is also Gaia."
"Ah, no, your grandmother is Gaia, and your great-grandmother is also Gaia, which makes it a bit hard to distinguish."
Listening to Qin Muye’s taboo-like words, the wizard and the witch were on the verge of breaking down, while Lettuce was dazed, as if her entire worldview had been completely washed away in just one night.
Even her family relationships were in chaos; she had become her own aunt, and the three dogs were both her nephews and her brothers.
"Of course, you can relax a bit. After all, with your status, you are of the same generation as the King of the Gods, Zeus. Try to be more open-minded about it."
Qin Muye kindly explained.
"Your Highness, please stop talking. If you keep going, we might all be killed," the witch cried out, on the brink of collapse.
This conversation had escalated from the Earth Mother to the King of the Gods, and it could really end in disaster.
"Alright, I'll stop talking," Qin Muye also felt that he had been a bit too talkative. If this really got out, he would definitely be hunted down.
Fortunately, there was no one around here. As for the gods hearing it? He wasn't worried; he guessed only Gaia, the Earth Mother, could hear it, and the other gods wouldn't care.
But if they had really heard it, he would have been buried underground by now, not standing here chatting with them.
"So, what do you three think?" Qin Muye pondered, considering some changes. After all, the fairy tale of Miss Lettuce had completely collapsed.
Currently, the heroine, Miss Lettuce, was stuck in the confusion of being her own aunt and having three dogs as nephews, losing all normal thought.
As for the witch and the wizard, he could take them to the operating table when he had the chance to examine their bodies.
Miss Lettuce would face the same fate, but given her special status, Qin Muye couldn't be too harsh.
If he really went too far, he would likely face the same fate.
The river god Achelous might not be as powerful as the Death God Thanatos, who is Rank 8, but he was at least Rank 7, so Qin Muye couldn't defeat him.
Even if he let them go now, things wouldn't be the same as if nothing had happened. After all, the Greek gods were more like personifications of various desires, with only a few being normal. Qin Muye knew nothing about the river god Achelous, so he couldn't rely on anyone else for his safety.
After some thought, Qin Muye decided to pair Aladdin with Miss Lettuce. As for the original princess, it didn't matter; she was a princess, and there were plenty of people who liked her, so one less admirer wouldn't make a difference.
Aladdin was actually a decent man, at least more normal than the necrophiliac prince in Snow White.
After all, he remembered that in the story's ending, Aladdin became a wise king, indicating he wasn't inherently bad.
Qin Muye also speculated that Aladdin might be the offspring of one of the Titan gods; otherwise, how could he have a treasure vault specifically designed for him, containing a magic lamp that imprisoned a true deity?
It was clearly meant to build up his reputation.
As for Aladdin's father, the possibility of a fake death was high, and which god it was, Qin Muye didn't know.
If Lettuce and Aladdin were paired up, even if the river god Achelous found out, he would have to swallow his bitterness and wouldn't dare to offend them.
So, the other problem now was how to convince Lettuce and deal with the witch and the wizard.
"Miss Lettuce, do you want a husband? If you do, just say the word, and I'll find you someone of equal status," Qin Muye said with a smile.
This pulled Miss Lettuce out of her daze, leaving her completely confused. The sycophantic wizard, on the other hand, was almost ready to fight Qin Muye at the thought of any 404 scenarios being played out in front of him.
