Chapter 1588: A War with No Victors (Thirty-Eight)
Chapter 1588: A War with No Victors (Thirty-Eight)
"What did Catherine say?"
Sitting on the sofa, Katrina, who had been listening to the conversation between the two, finally looked up at her sister. The twin-sided mirror had returned to its original state.
"Catherine said she'll come to Britain this year to exchange experiences and knowledge with us." Isabelle glanced at her sister and then turned back to the new formula she had just received.
"Do they know when they'll be coming to Britain?" Katrina looked a bit agitated, but her expression was more vigilant than anything else.
"No." Isabelle shook her head, "But I doubt we'll have to wait too long."
"I have a feeling they're not just coming for knowledge exchange." Katrina's eyes remained fixed on the twin-sided mirror, suggesting that she had a different opinion about this matter.
"After all, they're not getting any younger." Isabelle said meaningfully, "If they don't step up their efforts, they'll truly miss their chance."
"Then how can you still..."
Katrina was frustrated. She couldn't understand why Isabelle remained so calm when it was obvious that the two of them were targeting Albert.
After putting away the sorted documents into the folder, Isabelle suddenly spoke up, "My dear sister, perhaps it's time for you to take the initiative."
"But... he obviously did it on purpose, and... it would make me feel like I have no charm." Katrina, after her initial panic, came up with another excuse.
"Don't you have the courage to do this? You know he's generally averse to these things..."
"But he still slept with Granger."
Whenever this topic came up, Katrina felt a surge of irritability. She had made the first move, yet someone else had beaten her to it.
"That's the biggest problem." Isabelle sighed and reminded her, "Albert is an emotionally monogamous person. The little desire he had was almost entirely spent after his encounter with Granger."
"Why should I put up with this?" Katrina was indeed angry about this. She believed herself to be more attractive than Granger, but Albert seemed to have lost interest in her after returning from Australia.
"My dear sister, if you had taken the initiative back then, perhaps there wouldn't have been a place for Granger at all."
Isabelle knew the real reason, but she couldn't be direct with Katrina because she couldn't exactly say that Katrina was her secondary choice.
Given a better option, Albert would naturally lean towards his wife. Katrina's greatest value lay in the sisters' joint seduction.
At least, that's how Isabelle saw it.
"I recall you haven't been very..." Katrina suddenly looked at her sister with suspicious eyes, wondering if she had been unfaithful.
"I'm not a lion." Isabelle reminded her.
"Alright then, when do you think would be a good time?" Katrina also felt that they couldn't drag this out any longer.
"The sooner, the better. Preferably tonight."
"Tonight?"
Katrina was taken aback.
"You have to act fast. Once Catherine arrives, you might not be able to smile anymore." Isabelle felt that her sister still needed guidance.
Love was something that required patience and nurturing, especially when it came to an excellent man like Albert. Without putting in effort and fighting for oneself, one would not even have a chance.
After experiencing certain things a few times, one naturally becomes immune to them.
And Katrina still hadn't realized that a person's energy is limited.
"Alright, I'll ask Kara to prepare a few dishes." Katrina chose to trust Isabelle's judgment and got up to go to the kitchen.
Just then, the doorbell rang at the entrance.
A minute later, Albert appeared at the hallway entrance to the main hall.
"You don't look very happy. What happened?"
Isabelle stood up from the sofa and gave Albert a gentle hug.
"Something did happen."
Albert didn't hide it from her and briefly shared the day's events with Isabelle.
"Political struggles can be cruel sometimes."
Isabelle understood Albert's less-than-ideal mood upon his return, but she also knew that after he had agreed to become Kingsley's senior advisor, it was inevitable that he would get entangled in these troublesome matters.
"However..."
Isabelle kissed Albert on the lips and said softly, "You can always choose to walk away."
She knew him well and was aware that if he truly wanted to, some of these troublesome matters wouldn't exist.
"You're right, but people are always greedy. I wish I could be as open-minded as Professor Flitwick."
Albert admired Professor Flitwick's detachment, but he also knew that there were some things he couldn't just let go of.
At the very least, he needed to keep an eye on things, just like Dumbledore had once done.
"If you don't want anything and have no desires, it means you've become an old man."
Isabelle led Albert to sit down and, noticing his gaze fall on the folder on the table, she shared with him the events of her day as well.
The matters regarding the beauty shop were almost settled, and Catherine and Valeria planned to come to Britain.
"They're coming to Britain to exchange experiences with you?" Albert expressed his skepticism.
"You should know very well why they're coming to Britain." Isabelle smiled at her husband.
"I don't have much interaction with them." Albert shook his head.
"They don't see it that way."
Seeing Albert's twitching expression, Isabelle placed her hand on his chest.
"You're not jealous." Albert looked at his wife with suspicion. "You're not going to deal with them for me?"
Isabelle didn't respond to that and instead changed the subject, asking, "Have you forgotten something else recently?"
Feeling Isabelle's fingers sliding down his chest to his crotch, Albert immediately understood and kissed her again, saying, "We can take a shower first."
"It seems you've forgotten about Katrina. She hasn't been very happy lately." Isabelle deliberately covered her face with her hand to remind him.
"Alright, it's my fault, but you know I've been very busy lately, and most girls want their first time to be wonderful." Albert quickly came up with an excuse, as he had been extremely busy since returning from Australia.
"Tonight!" Isabelle insisted.
"You're not having an easy time either." Albert sighed, indicating his agreement.
"What about you? Do you want to join?"
"Next time, or Katrina will probably hate me." Isabelle whispered into Albert's ear, her head leaning close to his.
"If Katrina had a fraction of your ability, I think I would have died under the schemes of women by now." Albert sighed.
"It'll get much better once she lets go completely."
Isabelle was never worried about this aspect. Albert knew better than most wizards how to take care of his body, and he was more robust than the average wizard.
In some ways, wizards with magic were indeed much stronger than Muggles.
