Chapter 158: Look, Hidden Weapons! (Third Update)
Chapter 158: Look, Hidden Weapons! (Third Update)
The leading Aurors, experienced as they were, immediately guessed that Jerry had used the Disillusionment Charm. With a wave of their wands, they cast the counter-charm to reveal him.
A ripple of energy passed through the air, and Jerry's figure reappeared, but by then he had already dashed to the staircase behind the Aurors.
It turned out that after casting the Smokescreen Spell, Jerry had immediately followed it up with the Disillusionment Charm. Thanks to his enhanced physical condition from practicing the meditation technique, he was far more agile than the average person.
Even though the Auror Captain reacted quickly, it was still a step too late for Jerry.
"Goodbye!"
With two large strides, Jerry dodged the Aurors' simultaneous magical attacks and leaped back to the basement bar.
The bar was already empty, and he wasted no time, rushing straight out the door.
However, the Aurors were not so easy to shake off. As soon as Jerry escaped the bar and reached the street, he saw one by one, the Aurors apparating from the basement to block his path.
"I really have to give it to you guys, you're quite the bunch of cheaters, aren't you?"
Realizing that he couldn't escape by running alone, Jerry had no choice but to stand his ground and fight.
He didn't particularly want to tangle with these Aurors and certainly didn't want to harm them, but he had no other choice. Without the ability to apparate, he would never escape unless he took them down.
Moreover, he had to finish this quickly. If he drew in more Aurors, things would get even more complicated.
Using the Seven-Star Flower Step, Jerry's body darted left and right, evading the various magical attacks coming from the opposite side.
Although his wizard robes were enchanted with a Shield Charm, it wasn't invincible. When the magical attacks were powerful enough, the Shield Charm could still be broken.
And these Aurors were no pushovers. Each one was a skilled wizard, and while the Shield Charm could block one attack, it couldn't withstand the combined force of a dozen Aurors.
Fortunately, Jerry's physical strength had greatly increased due to his meditation technique, and his Seven-Star Flower Step made him incredibly hard to hit, especially when they weren't using area-of-effect spells.
However, he wasn't just dodging. While evading, he quietly grabbed a handful of Silver Needles from his pocket and scattered them.
"Look, hidden weapons!"
The hidden weapons were, of course, a ruse. He wasn't from the Unparalleled East, nor was he a Tang Sect Disciple; he had no skills in throwing hidden weapons.
But he did know Mind-Controlled Magic, which allowed him to manipulate the Silver Needles with magic, much like how Hovas had used telekinetic magic to control a knife to attack him.
However, he thought a knife was too conspicuous. Silver Needles were more discreet, and their light weight made them faster to control.
Although the damage from Silver Needles wasn't high, they could still provide significant assistance in battle.
And if he coated the Silver Needles with a toxic potion and aimed for vital areas like the eyes, ears, mouth, nose, or more sensitive spots, they could be lethal.
"Ah, what's that poking me!"
The Aurors were fully focused on casting their spells, attacking the incredibly agile figure in front of them. Suddenly, they felt a sharp pain in their fingernails and instinctively let out a cry, dropping their wands.
Jerry had some knowledge of martial arts, but it was more of a hobby. He didn't know which acupoints to target to paralyze or knock out his opponents, and he didn't want to aim for vital areas.
So, drawing from a TV show he had watched in his past life, he directly controlled the Silver Needles to pierce the Aurors' fingernails.
Sure enough, the effect was significant!
Jerry retracted the Silver Needles and, without a word, turned and ran. As long as he could escape the Aurors' line of sight and hide in a dark corner, they wouldn't be able to find him, even if they could Apparate.
If he weren't worried about the Fire Dragon Spell and Particle Cannon causing too much damage and accidentally killing a couple of Aurors, making the situation worse, he could have used them to permanently end the fight.
The magic he learned at school, while powerful, and his casting speed were clearly inferior to the experienced Aurors.
However, his physical advantages were too significant, and he knew many high-powered spells. If he were to use his full strength, even a dozen Aurors wouldn't be a match for him.
When the power levels were close, the one with more tricks and more aces up their sleeve had a clear advantage.
The Aurors found it hard to hit Jerry with their spells, while he could keep attacking while dodging, using spells they had never seen before, leaving them helpless.
Seeing the Silver Needles flying from their fingernails, the Aurors immediately understood that the black wizard had attacked them with unknown magic.
Enduring the pain in their nails, they quickly picked up their wands from the ground and prepared to Apparate to chase the black wizard, who was already out of sight.
However, a giant dragon suddenly appeared behind the black wizard and spewed a massive blast of flames into the sky.
Jerry had released the Magic Dragon from his Compass while running to prevent the Aurors from pursuing him.
Sure enough, upon seeing the fire-breathing Magic Dragon, the Aurors immediately abandoned their pursuit of Jerry and began to tense up, forming a circle around the Magic Dragon.
Although the Magic Dragon didn't look exactly like a dragon, its large size and ability to breathe fire made it appear just as dangerous as a Fantastic Beast. If left unchecked, it would certainly cause significant damage to the magic street.
Compared to a black wizard dealing in illegal goods, the Magic Dragon was a much more pressing threat.
"Stupefy!"
A dozen Aurors simultaneously cast the Sleeping Charm at the Magic Dragon.
Under normal circumstances, with their level of spellcasting, even a real dragon would fall asleep if hit by a dozen Sleeping Charms at once.
Unfortunately, the Magic Dragon was not a living creature but a magical construct, so it was immune to the Sleeping Charm.
The Aurors were shocked and quickly cast the Blinding Charm, specifically designed for large Fantastic Beasts like dragons, but it had no effect on the Magic Dragon.
While the Aurors were engaged with the Magic Dragon, Jerry focused a small part of his attention on his body, running to the bottom of Wells Inn.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
At that moment, loud explosions echoed in the distance, and Jerry's body trembled as he put away his Compass.
It turned out that the Aurors, realizing that the Sleeping Charm and Blinding Charm were ineffective, had used the powerful Explosion Charm to blast the Magic Dragon to pieces.
"The Thundering Explosion Charm, pretty powerful. I should find time to learn it!"
He wasn't upset about the Magic Dragon being destroyed, as it was just a Plastic Model. He could always order another one later.
With money, a Disguise Charm, and the ability to use Obliviate and False Memory Charm, ordering a Plastic Model was a simple matter, and he didn't have to worry about Shield tracing it back to him.
