Chapter 158: It's Here to Find Someone!
Chapter 158: It's Here to Find Someone!
5:00 am at the Grand Pot Lake Lighthouse on the Padia West Coast.
Miss Junsha looked solemn, holding a walkie-talkie and leading the officers from the Police Department to evacuate the wild Pokemon in the vicinity in an orderly manner.
Support from the Padia League had not arrived yet, and they could only do their best to prepare for the landing of the gigantic creature.
Half an hour earlier, they had sent a helicopter to investigate the creature up close.
But so far, the helicopter had not returned.
"...Do your best to evacuate the wild Pokemon nearby and get ready to respond!" Miss Junsha gave instructions in a calm and collected manner.
"Yes!" The officers sprang into action.
Suddenly, a thick fog rolled in.
Miss Junsha looked up, gazing out at the distant sea. As expected, she noticed that the mysterious creature was even closer now.
The monitor behind her quickly reported, "Report! The target is just ten kilometers away from the coastline! At its current speed, it will reach the destination in about ten minutes!"
"Ten minutes? We don't have enough time!" Miss Junsha frowned. "Damn, where did that thing come from?"
Just then, the sound of a helicopter engine rang out from above.
Everyone looked up and saw a helicopter with the insignia of the Padia League slowly landing on the beach.
A tall, tanned woman with long black hair and dressed in black stepped out.
She had a serious expression, her face devoid of emotion, and although she looked very young, she exuded an air of formidable strength.
Upon seeing the newcomer, Miss Junsha immediately saluted and respectfully said, "Chief!"
This woman was none other than the Chief Champion of the Padia League, Ye Zhu, who also served as the President of the Padia Pokemon League. She was one of the most powerful champions, revered for her exceptional skills.
It was quite a coincidence that Ye Zhu had been inspecting the Frost Smear Gym just the day before.
After the inspection, she had decided to stay there for the night before returning to the Pokemon League the next morning. But now, unexpected circumstances had arisen.
"Brief me on the situation here," Ye Zhu said.
Miss Junsha nodded and began her report, "An hour ago, we received a distress call from fishermen who were out at sea. They spotted a mysterious black shadow moving rapidly underwater. They thought they would be attacked, but the creature seemed to have no ill intentions and was simply moving towards the Padia region on its own."
Upon hearing this, Ye Zhu remained silent and nodded slightly. She took the telescope from Miss Junsha and walked to the shore, where the waves lapped against the sand, and gazed out at the distant sea.
Through the telescope, she saw a massive black shadow shrouded in mist, approaching their location.
Ye Zhu furrowed her brows. "What kind of Pokemon is that?"
Miss Junsha shook her head. "The helicopter we sent to investigate hasn't returned yet."
Just then, another helicopter landed on the coast.
A young officer in uniform ran out, looking flustered. "R-report!"
"What's the situation?!" Miss Junsha asked urgently.
The young officer's voice trembled as he spoke. "T-that's not a monster... It's a gigantic Dragonite! Based on our estimates, its height exceeds thirty meters! If you include the part underwater, it might even be forty meters tall!"
A forty-meter tall Dragonite?
Hearing this staggering number, everyone present turned pale.
At this size, it could truly be called a colossal sea beast! The thought crossed Ye Zhu's mind that such an enormous Pokemon existed in this world.
But soon, she realized that now was not the time for such contemplations.
If a Dragonite over forty meters tall were to reach the city, the consequences would be unimaginable.
She fell silent for a moment, then asked, "Did you attract its attention when you approached it?"
The young officer shook his head. "No, it didn't show any signs of aggression. It doesn't seem to have malicious intentions."
"Hmm," Ye Zhu acknowledged, falling into deep thought once more.
Miss Junsha asked, "Chief, what should we do?"
As Ye Zhu recalled the fishermen's report, she replied, "No malicious intentions... This suggests that its purpose is most likely not to attack humans..."
Miss Junsha was taken aback for a moment. "Should we stop the evacuation?"
Ye Zhu shook her head without hesitation. "No, even if it doesn't intend to harm us, a Pokemon of that size could still unintentionally cause massive destruction to the city once it reaches the shore."
Having said that, she lapsed into silence once more, deep in contemplation.
Miss Junsha remained quiet, not wanting to disturb her.
After a long pause, Ye Zhu suddenly asked, "Has the Gym Leader of the Baigu Gym been notified?"
If her memory served her right, the Gym Leader, Lipu, possessed an Espeon capable of telepathic communication.
If Lipu was nearby, they might be able to attempt communication with the gigantic Dragonite.
Miss Junsha was slightly startled, then quickly nodded. "Yes, Chief! Gym Leader Lipu is already on her way here!"
Initially, she hadn't known that the Chief Champion was in the vicinity, so she had called upon all the nearby Gym Leaders for assistance, hoping that someone could come to their aid.
Watching Ye Zhu's determined figure boarding the helicopter, Miss Junsha felt a sense of admiration.
At this moment, she somewhat understood why this Chief Champion, despite her young age, had become an admired figure for all Pokemon trainers in the Padia region.
———
The thick fog enveloped the area.
The helicopter navigated through the mist, hovering above the turbulent waters caused by the gigantic creature below.
Ye Zhu calmly gazed downwards, her eyes fixed on the disturbance the massive Pokemon was creating.
Suddenly, the pilot from the front cabin shouted, "Chief! We're here!"
The helicopter hovered in front of the looming shadow, and Ye Zhu stood up, her eyes locking onto the gigantic Dragonite.
Within the dense fog, she could vaguely make out the true form of the shadow.
Just one glance, and the Chief Champion was stunned.
The ancient and formidable aura it exuded was unlike anything a typical Pokemon could possess! Where did it come from, and where was it heading?
There were still so many unknowns in this world, and Ye Zhu had no intention of engaging in a direct conflict. Standing at the helicopter's open cabin door, she attempted to communicate with the creature.
"Stop right there! There are many humans and Pokemon living on this land. If you continue, you will bring destruction upon them!"
However, her words fell on deaf ears.
The gigantic Dragonite continued its relentless march forward.
Witnessing this, Ye Zhu furrowed her brows slightly.
Her right hand reached for a Poke Ball, and with a flash of white light, a massive Regirock appeared above the tumultuous seas.
"Regirock, freeze the surrounding waters!"
At the command, Regirock sprang into action.
A terrifying Ice-type energy emanated from its body, and frost spread across the surface, quickly freezing the surrounding waters.
In the blink of an eye, the nearby sea transformed into a sheet of ice, blocking the gigantic Dragonite's path.
It was then that the colossal Dragonite seemed to finally take notice.
It lowered its head slightly, its gaze falling upon the Pokemon that dared to stand in its way.
The Dragonite opened its massive maw, and a devastating energy gathered within, transforming into an incredibly thick beam that shot forth with earth-shattering power.
The frozen ice shattered instantly, and the seawater surged, creating towering waves. The ice melted under the onslaught of the terrifying energy, and the resulting steam thickened the fog in the air.
Even a champion-level Pokemon like Regirock seemed as fragile as a small boat adrift in the raging sea under the Dragonite's attack.
Ye Zhu watched in awe as the scene unfolded before her.
The strength of this gigantic Dragonite! It was likely on par with a Champion, or perhaps even beyond!
Such earth-shattering power... If unleashed upon a city, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Images flashed through Ye Zhu's mind—collapsing skyscrapers, once-thriving cities reduced to rubble, fires raging, and people engulfed by the inferno.
"I must stop it from reaching the shore at all costs!" Ye Zhu thought to herself.
Seeing that communication was futile, she didn't hesitate to deploy her full strength to halt the behemoth's advance.
Just then, a helicopter carrying Lipu, the Superpower Gym Leader, arrived at the scene.
Lipu had already heard everything from Junsha, and seeing Ye Zhu's serious demeanor, she was taken aback.
With a playful smile, Lipu said, "It's my first time seeing you look so serious! But leave it to me from here!"
Ye Zhu put away the Poke Ball she had just taken out and recalled the Regirock below with a flash of white light.
Lipu released a Poke Ball, and with another flash of light, a Sceptile appeared in mid-air.
"Sceptile, it's all up to you now!"
"Scept," Sceptile acknowledged, its eyes glowing with a blue light.
In the next second, it vanished, reappearing at a distance.
The gigantic Dragonite halted its march, craning its neck to regard the unfamiliar Pokemon.
Although Ye Zhu and Lipu maintained calm expressions, their hearts were pounding with anticipation. Their eyes didn't blink as they watched Sceptile attempt to communicate with the colossal Dragonite.
During their flight to the scene, Lipu had witnessed the beast unleashing its devastating Hyper Beam.
Even with her vast experience, she was left shaken by the display of power.
It was a spectacle akin to a legendary Pokemon, leaving her at a loss for words to describe it.
At that moment, not just them but also Junsha and the officers on the shore held their breath in anticipation.
Time ticked by slowly, and it felt like an eternity had passed—perhaps only a few dozen seconds or a few minutes had gone by.
Finally, Sceptile's figure reappeared by Lipu's side.
Lipu and Ye Zhu looked on anxiously, "Well?"
Sceptile used its Telepathy, and its voice resonated in their minds:
"It says it has come here to find someone."
