Chapter 157: The Bald Tyrant's Co-habitation Request!
Chapter 157: The Bald Tyrant's Co-habitation Request!
In Z City, within the confines of Yecheng's home, the latter was still oblivious to the fact that due to the Vaccine Man incident, he had now become a "Mysterious Powerhouse" in the eyes of the Hero Association.
"Ahhhhhhhh!"
Yecheng, who had only fallen asleep in the early hours of the morning, finally woke up around noon. As he was about to stretch his arms after waking up, he realized that there was another creature lying beside him.
Last night, after receiving Saitama's provocation, Yecheng resolutely picked up his gaming controller and engaged in a fierce battle with the Bald Tyrant. However, the outcome was something he couldn't accept! In the initial three rounds, they ended in a draw, with two wins each. In the fourth round, Yecheng narrowly emerged as the victor.
But the Bald Tyrant insisted that since the previous rounds were tied at two wins each, the following rounds should also be played with the same format, otherwise, it would be unfair.
Yecheng wanted the Bald Tyrant to lose wholeheartedly, and he also felt that the other party's argument made sense, so he readily agreed.
However, the subsequent events greatly exceeded Yecheng's expectations. In the following two rounds, the Bald Tyrant gradually mastered the techniques, and in the end, he narrowly defeated Yecheng.
Seeing the Bald Tyrant's triumphant taunts, Yecheng was naturally dissatisfied. Being crushed in practical combat was one thing, but now he couldn't even win against the Bald Tyrant in a game. How could he endure this?
After losing the game, Yecheng immediately expressed that the Bald Tyrant had now become familiar with the game, and from now on, he wouldn't let him off with half a health bar. Instead, he would deal with the Bald Tyrant seriously.
So, they continued with a best-of-five, three-win format, followed by a best-of-seven, four-win format...
In the end, Yecheng couldn't even remember how many wins were needed for the final round, but his record against the Bald Tyrant was evenly split. Each time, either Yecheng was dissatisfied, or the Bald Tyrant refused to concede.
Eventually, the Bald Tyrant even resorted to pulling out the power cord, a despicable move.
As Yecheng was about to secure victory by winning two consecutive rounds, he witnessed the Bald Tyrant's shameless act and picked up a nearby long sword, unsheathing it and slashing at his opponent!
The terrifying crescent slash grazed the Bald Tyrant's scalp and flew past, eventually piercing through the window and out into the open.
Z City, known for its concentration of monstrosities, was no exception.
On the street, a pumpkin-headed monstrosity was boasting to another monstrosity about how he was on the verge of becoming a "Ghost Rank Monster."
But in the next moment, a crescent slash suddenly flew by from a distance, and before the soon-to-be "Ghost Rank Monster" could finish his boast, his head was split into two halves! The slash, after bisecting the pumpkin-headed monstrosity, continued with unabated force, carving out a hundred-meter-long trench along the road!
The few monstrosities who were talking to the pumpkin-headed monstrosity were shocked to see it suddenly split in two right in front of them.
Earlier, they had heard rumors within the monstrosity community that Z City had an "Urban Legend."
It was said that monstrosities living there often met unexplained deaths on the streets.
Some monstrosities even claimed that the infamous "Urban Legend" would often take the dead monstrosities home for cooking and consumption!
However, the sudden crescent slash they had just witnessed seemed different from the Urban Legend they had heard about before. Could this be a new Urban Legend?
"Hey, Saitama, you should have gone home by now. Why are you still here?"
After cultivating all night, the two woke up on the floor, and Yecheng, seeing Saitama with sleepy eyes leaving his home, heaved a sigh of relief, feeling that the Bald Tyrant did have some self-awareness.
However, his relief lasted only a few minutes before he saw Saitama return to his home to fetch his toiletries.
Night City watched as Saitama entered the bathroom, his face contorting in disbelief.
"Hey, Baldy, what are you doing? This is my home. Go brush your teeth and wash your face at your own place!" Night City exclaimed angrily.
Saitama, his mouth foaming from brushing his teeth, maintained a blank expression and replied, "Night City, have you forgotten something? Starting today, I'll be staying here. You promised me last night, remember?"
"Nonsense! When did I ever agree to something so absurd...?" Night City, his face filled with displeasure, was about to retort, but then he recalled that he might have indeed made such a promise the night before.
It was during a late-night gaming session, when Saitama was losing badly, that he made a bet with Baldy. If Saitama couldn't beat Baldy by 5 AM, he would grant Baldy one condition. Conversely, if Saitama won, Baldy would grant Saitama a condition.
The outcome was obvious; by midnight, the evenly matched (chicken fight) duo still couldn't determine a winner.
Baldy's condition to Night City was to move in with Night City, as Night City's living environment was like heaven to Baldy. After just one night, Baldy declared he didn't want to return to his shabby house.
Night City's house was spacious, with extra rooms and an abundance of manga and games.
For Baldy, who also enjoyed these things but lacked the means to afford them, Night City's place was the ideal living environment.
"Damn it! I've been backstabbed by you, you bastard!" Night City's intestines twisted with regret as he recalled last night's promise.
In hindsight, Baldy had clearly set a trap. The seemingly honest Baldy was far more cunning than Night City had imagined.
Moreover, Baldy's gaming skills were not as amateurish as Night City had thought.
It was true that Baldy had been utterly defeated by King with a single finger, but the key point was that King was not an ordinary gamer.
Baldy's apparent weakness in front of King was not due to his own weakness but because King was ridiculously powerful!
Since the promise had been made, Night City didn't want to go back on his word.
However, Night City also set three clauses for Baldy. Although he agreed to let Baldy move in and use the house's amenities, all expenses for food, drink, and other necessities must be shared equally. If the roommate were a cute girl, Night City wouldn't mind covering all expenses.
But since it was Saitama, the situation was different.
Firstly, Night City's orientation was normal. Secondly, he had no interest in Saitama. Moreover, before becoming a hero, Saitama seemed to have the ability to attract monsters.
"Anyway, let's settle this month's boarding fee first. I'm a bit over budget this month, and I'm actually short on living expenses now. My modeling salary won't arrive until the end of the month, so Saitama, please pay some boarding fee as a temporary measure."
Night City, who had previously been able to feed himself, now had an extra mouth to feed, and his already tight budget couldn't cover it. So, he straightforwardly asked Baldy for the boarding fee.
