Chapter 157: Phoenix Feather Command Arrow
Chapter 157: Phoenix Feather Command Arrow
Fourth Floor of the Castle.
As the Weasley brothers and Cedric hastily fled, they failed to notice that the door, which had been opened, slowly closed behind them.
"Clang!"
The closed door blocked Rowan's roar, and silence returned to the corridor.
Inside the room, Rowan stood with its three noses constantly sniffing towards the corner of the wall.
As Rowan drew closer, its noses almost touching the wall, a sudden arm extended from the air.
"Slap!"
The arm seemed to disdain Rowan's action and, with a round motion, slapped one of the dog heads.
"Get lost!"
"Woof!"
Instead of getting angry, Rowan wagged its tail and eagerly approached with excitement.
It remembered this voice and the scent, belonging to the person who could understand its speech and always brought delicious jerky treats during their encounters.
Rowan eagerly moved closer, its three heads nudging eagerly.
"Alright, Rowan... Back off."
Kyle had no choice but to lift his Invisibility Cloak, pat Rowan's large head, and take out three large bags of pre-prepared treats from his pocket, placing them on the ground.
Each head had its share, and there was no need to fight over them.
Rowan quickly lowered its head and began to feast.
This jerky was the most delicious food it had ever tasted, but Hagrid never made it for him.
Just as Rowan was eating, a chaotic sound of footsteps echoed from outside the door.
"Clunk..." The door was pulled hard from the outside.
"It's over, the door is locked," Ron's whimpering voice came from outside. "We're done for, we're as good as dead!"
"Oh... Come here quickly!" This was a somewhat rough voice.
Kyle looked towards the door, frowned, and put on his Invisibility Cloak again.
"Alohomora!"
The lock clicked, and the door suddenly opened.
The next second, four panicked young wizards rushed in, then turned and closed the door, pressing their ears against it.
After a while, Ron spoke softly, "He thought the door was locked, I don't think there'll be any more..."
"Ron, I have a bad feeling."
Harry took a deep breath and said, "Remember the roars we heard just now? I think they came from this room... What's wrong, Neville?"
As he spoke, Harry noticed Neville pulling on his sleeve. He turned and saw Neville's face had turned deathly pale, with large beads of sweat constantly dripping from his forehead.
Without needing to ask, Harry quickly understood why Neville looked this way.
He had seen the three-headed dog.
Disturbed during its meal, Rowan was in a very foul mood. It glared at the young wizards before it, and its three heads simultaneously let out angry roars.
Ron and Neville were stunned, standing in place, wanting to run but their legs trembling uncontrollably.
In this critical moment, Harry reacted the fastest. He fumbled to open the door behind him, and together with Hermione, they pulled Ron and Neville and ran out.
Rowan didn't chase after them, merely letting out two symbolic roars before resuming its feast on the jerky.
But Harry and the others didn't know this, and like the previous group, they fled the fourth floor without looking back.
They ran all the way to the portrait of the Fat Lady, where they finally stopped, panting heavily.
"Where have you all been!" The Fat Lady asked, "What day is it today? Six young wizards, including the two just now, have gone out for a night stroll.
"Don't ask..."
"Pig noses, pig noses..."
The password was 'Pig Noses', and without further questions, the Fat Lady spun forward to open the door. They stumbled into the common room, shaking, and collapsed into armchairs.
For a long while, no one spoke, especially Neville, who seemed as if he would never speak again.
"It's strange..."
Hermione, catching her breath, was the first to speak. "Did you notice that the dog was eating something?"
"Yeah, it almost ate us," Ron, still in shock, said with lingering fear. "It was definitely thinking about how to swallow us whole."
"What's wrong with your eyes?" Hermione said angrily. "I mean, it was already eating something before we went in, and it was three portions of packaged food!"
"What does that mean?" Harry asked.

"Can't you guys think for yourselves?" Hermione said impatiently. "Do you remember those roars we heard on the way?"
This means that before us, someone had already entered that room and pacified the three-headed dog with food. He must have had a purpose for doing this.
"You're overthinking it. We should be thanking him," Ron said, patting his chest. "If he hadn't sent food to the dog in advance, we might have..."
"Didn't you notice where the dog was standing?" Hermione asked.
"On the floor?" Ron said nonchalantly. "I was looking at its heads, not its feet. You might not have noticed, but it has three heads."
"Not the floor, but on the trapdoor. It's obviously guarding something."
"Guarding something?"
"Yes!" Hermione stood up, glaring at them angrily.
"If you two don't mind, I'm going to sleep now... to prevent either of you from coming up with some brilliant idea that gets us expelled!"
Ron stared at her back, his mouth hanging open in surprise.
"Which is worse? She should have thought it through before speaking."
On the other side.
After Harry and the others left, Kyle lifted the Invisibility Cloak again and walked to the Rowan tree, trying to open the trapdoor beneath it.
At first, Rowan firmly kept its claws on the door, refusing to let Kyle pass.
It was only when Kyle took out a Phoenix feather that it moved its claws.
"See, I told you I was sent by Dumbledore, but you didn't believe me."
Kyle said sternly, "As punishment, you won't get your Mortar Mouse Jerky next time."
Rowan became anxious and started rolling around on the ground. Then, it moved closer to Kyle, and its three big heads looked at him pitifully.
If a tabby cat had made this expression, Kyle would have had no resistance.
But Rowan was too ugly and not suitable for this kind of look. Kyle glanced at it and felt his forehead throbbing.
For some peace and the sake of his eyes, Kyle took out a large bag of Mortar Mouse Jerky and threw it to the side.
Rowan happily ran over to it.
Kyle ignored it and lifted the trapdoor, looking down.
But it was pitch black below, and nothing could be seen.
